The Rosemont Brookhaven could be a wonderful place to live if management actually cared about the residents living in it. Our apartment flooded three times from our AC unit which we were told by the maintenance crew it was one of the oldest in the complex and needed to be updated. The first two times they lifted the carpets and put fans underneath. I had to fight to get them to replace the carpet. Then we had a flood coming through our ceiling from the apartment above us and we had a huge crack in the ceiling that we had asked then to fix multiple times and no one ever came to fix it which resulted in mold. Let's see what other issues we had, we upgraded our apartment since we had the flood, this was the only way to get rid of the carpets. They took out old lighting fixtures in the ceiling and never came back to patch up the holes in the ceiling from the previous fixtures. Since they took the carpet out they put down a "linoleum wood" on the floor. Where the molding was ripped up they glued the linoleum down and never replaced the molding in some areas so all you saw was brown glue. I had reached out to Lauren and she said we had to call the contractor to get them to come back... Seems odd when that's their job isn't it? So we called the contractor multiple times and left messages and they never returned our calls. That was also never fixed. Finally we decided to not renew our lease, and we get a bill in the mail for $500 for damages to our blinds (we have a cat) and we couldn't find the gym key, and a piece of the rug in the bedroom which by the way was not replaced after the 2nd flood, needed to be patched up. Totally fine paying for the blinds and the keys, but seriously? So I reached out to Lauren, never get an answer from her or upper management, and what happens? They send the bill right to collections. I've never delt with any company that cares so poorly about the residents. Good luck to the next person they move into our old apartment because I guarantee they just put a bandaid on everything instead of fixing the real issues.

The leasing agent Carly, was cold as if beneath her to show me around, racist, and rude. I could not get past her, so I left.

My main complaint about this place is the NOISE! From besides a busy subway line in Queens to besides the BQE in Brooklyn I've lived in some pretty noisy places. This is the loudest place I have ever lived. Each day starts promptly at 9 with a garbage truck making as much noise as it possibly can. That lasts for 30 minutes to an house. The fire house sounds it's alarm everyday at 12 and then multiple other times throughout the day. It's loud as can be and seriously the loudest fire alarm I've ever heard. Excessively loud. And then I gotta hand it to the Patchogue fire department for their enthusiasm. They are blaring those horns and sirens like a little kid with his toy fire truck Christmas morning whether they need to or not. On the other side of the building you get the drunks doing their thing. I do like living here and the staff is the best but the noise is absolutely killer.

It appears the owners are attempting to push out the cash pay tenants to allow the government-subsided tenants in. On Section 8, the rent for my particular apartment went up $420 to $2200! This is a shoe-box size apartment, forget about closet space. The shenanigans that are going around here with the tenants and these particular "groups" is ridiculous. Every tenants association meeting in one year of residence had turned out to be a screaming match! It was supposed to be dissolved, then management is allowing it to resurface tomorrow with an "election" fixed of course. A tenant's association is not needed, especially one with a treasurere? Why is a treasurer needed? This is a joke. One of the "bully" tenants was allowed to remove our library/computer room to create a pantry..open only 3 hours a week. So all the books and videos were slopped into the community room shelves the computer are MIA. The computer room/library was a listed "amenity" here. No matter how much we complain to the upper management, nothing gets done. The noise above me wakes me up every morning and when this tenant is home definitely defines my mood living in a ground floor apartment. Should be the best right? Not. Lots of bugs in the summer ...we are located right in the woods really. I would not recommend checking into this place. What it USED to be is not any longer. It looked like a luxury hotel with strict managers at time, but that kept the place nice. But I finally accepted their call..when they call you from the list, they expect an immediate answer. Some people just can't move in 30 days!! Back on the bottom of the list you go. I am very unhappy with the way things are run here. There is no decor in the hallways. Looks like an institution..or is it?

First things first, I've…read morenever rented from anywhere prior to moving in here, so I wasn't keen on what was supposed to be done, such as a "walk through". When I viewed the apartment, I did like it. It's a nice size and lower level which I prefer. The carpets were stained and worn. I inquired about new carpets, and their response was "we are having them professionally cleaned. If in a few months you still feel they need to be replaced, we will do it." Within the first few weeks of moving in, it was Thanksgiving. I was hosting about 15 people, my first holiday in my new place. Exciting, right? Nope. My fridge FULL of food died overnight. By Thanksgiving morning, everything was rotten. I called the emergency number due to it being a holiday, and did not get any response. Friday, the day after my ruined holiday, I finally got someone on the phone. No I'm sorry, no sympathy, nothing. The next day, Saturday, the super came with a "new" fridge. It was a used one from another apartment, disgusting and filthy. Stains inside and out that I had to clean myself. A few weeks went by and I started noticing stains on the carpet that were resurfacing after their "professional" cleaning. I called regarding the carpet and repeated what I was originally told when I first inquired. Their response..."we don't replace carpets mid-lease, I don't know who told you that. You were misinformed." OK fine. Thanks a lot. April 2, 2015...I was going to do my laundry (in the basement of the building) and I saw several police cars, ambulance, fire trucks, etc (which is a regular occurrence, at least once a week) I proceeded to go downstairs and the door had crime scene tape over it. I approached a police officer concerned with what was transpiring. He told me there had been a fight and I couldn't use the laundry room for a few days, at least. I went to the laundromat. About 2 days later, I proceeded again to head downstairs to do laundry. I opened the door and right away, I noticed drops of blood on the steps leading to laundry room. I stepped around it and went down anyway. It looked like a murder scene. Blood spatter all over the walls, on the washer and dryer, on the chair, the floor, everywhere. I immediately ran upstairs and as I was walking out I noticed blood in the foyer as well. Also splashed on the door and mailboxes. I called Fairfield and explained what I found. Their response "Oh they already cleaned it up." Long story short, I had to get the Department of Health involved. They said they couldn't do much, I corresponded with a man named Bruce for days on end about it. They had the throw rug in the foyer "professionally" cleaned but to this day, I use rubber gloves to obtain my mail, as the blood spatter is still there. July 2015...my upstairs neighbors water from their bathroom began gushing into my bathroom. I was told "put a bucket there I'll come tomorrow to look at it." They eventually removed part of the ceiling which stayed like that for a week until they came and fixed it. To this day, it still hasn't been painted, just a shoddy spackle job. There has been countless other incidents, but I figured I'd touch on the important ones. If you or a loved one plan on moving there. Beware. I gave it one star because zero wasn't an option. I'd also like to add that the customer service provided by one particular individual is appalling, I'll spare her name in good faith, however, never in my life have I been treated with such disrespect by a so called "professional". She responded to an email I sent, which was regarding a question I had about a mistake on their part, in caps lock, like she was raising her voice at me. I could go on for days. But I'll stop here.

Almost Home was hired to…read moreship some personal items that I inherited from my Aunt's estate, including a clock that once sat in my grandparents home. When I opened the box, I found it was in pieces (see photos I have uploaded). The packaging material that Almost Home uses is padded paper (brown packing paper layered with 3 layers of white paper, so it is about 5 layers of paper layered together). I when I unpacked the pieces, I found the base of the clock was flush against the bottom of the box with crumpled paper all around it. So they place my nearly 30 lb clock into the box (with no padding underneath it), then crumbled the padded paper all around it. Not only that, but the box was not labeled "fragile", nor was there a "this way up" notation on the box. When I contacted the carrier who delivered the box, they were extremely apologetic about my loss, but said that they could not take responsibility for the damage because it was packaged with paper, which the carrier specifically indicates should only be used for lightweight, non-fragile items. This makes sense to me, because paper is entirely compressible when pressed upon by a large heavy object. I imagine that when the box was jostled (as is wont to happen during shipping) the heavy clock pushed against the paper, which then compressed and created a void around the clock allowing it to move back an forth even more until it battered itself into pieces each time it was picked up during its cross country trip. When I wrote to Almost Home to register my complaint about the damage to the clock, I had 5 interactions via email without a single apology for the damage to the clock, until the very last email in which they said they felt bad about the damage, but it was not their fault because the box itself was not damaged, therefore the responsibility for the damage to the clock lay with the carrier, not with them. If you have a heavy fragile item to be shipped please do not use Almost Home to package it. Please see here for how to pack a clock: https://www.kensclockclinic.com/pdf/How%20to%20Pack%20a%20Clock%20or%20Clock%20Movement%20for%20Shipping.pdf.
