Been in Roselle 16 years, my kids and I have frequented the park district for joining for activities. Spring 2019 had series of incident with one of their volunteers, that person was wrong for their behaviors, demeanor, being arrogant, rude & creepy. Then the RPD top administrative staff handling of the incident. This was brought up in a complaint with the RPD administration with details. Before administration even talked to me, they rushed to judgement & made a decision, handled things poorly, sided with this individual volunteer who was out of character, rude, out of line & creepy in hawking & stalking me and my daughters that day both in Bloomingdale at their Middle School volleyball game & then later at the RPD volleyball. The RPD staff did nothing on the issues, only acted to protect this volunteer working with all girls. Lack of follow up communication about the incident. I spoke with Roselle Police about it, even they stated that's creepy & wrong! While sitting with the officer & discussing initially over phone with administrator, they would not identify their volunteer when asked. Not right but not a problem, identified him through the community grape vine. I've heard complaints about RPD administrators & some others with Roselle civic/public sector directly communicating with many others from our community, as I am a community & consumer advocate. RPD has been on TV news being investigated & involved cases with the IL Attorney Generals Office for these sort issues. Unfortunately the news people spoke to are backed up, but said they will follow up in this story. Many complaints from the community, & with this experience highlight that they basically feel & state that it falls on deft ears & they don't care. Confirmed in earnest with this here. And this incidence also, with others also in community complaining, abuse of power! Not cool on all accounts RPD, Village of Roselle & Dist 12 Schools, these are most sighted. Not all bad, but when it is, it's unacceptable bad. Now experiencing the same, feel this was favoritism, nepotism or whatever (they did not follow up or communicate adequately or professionally so who knows really) could even be discrimination for all I know. Being left in the dark, not caring or doing your jobs is further disturbing actually. Poor administrative judgement, actions & performances. We do not feel comfortable ever returning as this stands, and as a community and consumer service advocate many years, this involving my children, other families and children in OUR community, (we pay taxes for you to serve us, not the other way, paid to do a job, not job the people who pay taxes & fees for programs so you can make a living) I plan to escalate with appropriate channels and actions! This is really a sorry case to be happening anywhere, I offered every opportunity to those involved and outside areas of our community to make it right. This incident could have been handled easily most likely & much better than poor returns all the way around! Presentations of cover/ hiding, not communicating and following up, and especially making power play's, poor decisions, not the easy or right ways to do things! I was honest at the original time & can only suppose that the truth & these other concerns are too much for these individuals from RDP to handle. Only the case when failing to align as equals in resolutions, on these type issues & community concerns especially considering these are tax funded programs and employees. Will step it up with elevated complaints & petitions to local & state representatives and officials. These are child endangerment, community & public safety related concerns. Others can do the same, people are tired of this from our communities & especially tax funded programs for children! Mercy! Also check on Yelp & Google Search for more stories! Current status 4 months since as of July 2019, no further contact, formal complaint taken as requested, or formal investigations by Roselle Park District or District 12 Schools. read more
