My girls are absolute ambassadors of OKS, as I see the totality of what Oak Knoll offers, in them. The teachers and faculty are like family, the care they exude is ever so natural and nurturing. Don't get me started on the academics. In the lower school, the classes are interwoven. I was actually intrigued to learn that in the sixth grade for instance, as the origin of the golden ratio was being taught in math class, the students were also being shown how it was applied to the Mona Lisa painting in their Arts class, it's application in the Renaissance era in Social Studies, and there was reference to the concept in Science, and even in the library classes. My sixth grader was absolutely fascinated relating her experience. As for the nurturing environment, you can sense the importance of core values in the school, it only takes one visit to feel it in the air. The students are also exposed to practical religious tenets, helping those in need, etc. I honestly cannot say enough about Oak Knoll. I wrote this review specifically to go against Allan, Menan, and Celito. There are many topics to…read morecover including sexual abuse, toxic environment, kids cheating their way with money, faculty destroying student self worth, and it just being an overall terrible school. First I would like to cover sexual abuse. Going to Allan's example of sexual assault with Anthony du Bourg, he stated that Anthony was a teacher in the 60s and walked "through the locker room when we were undressed." In other words Mr. Anthony walked through the locker room in the 60s when Allan was changing. That means if Allan in 2017 would be pretty old. Not only this, but all of the other examples given by other reviews happened every 20 years and have no solid evidence. These reviews also state that there are better schools in the area, Newark Academy, Delbarton, Kent Place, and so much more have terrible incidents that are far worse than Pingry's. These claims have a high chance of not being true and there is no school in the world that has no creepos lingering. Considering that there are only 3 alleged assaulters for a school history of almost 200 years is really amazing. Now I would like to talk about the supposed toxic environment. Anywhere you go in life there will always be toxic people. I believe that Menan is just a parent who had a kid hang around the wrong crowd. The Pingry School also has amazing staff and faculty that can support anyone at anytime. Compared to other private schools and public schools Pingry is nowhere near as toxic. According to Allan people were racist and really toxic, the 1960s was a really long time ago and the world was really different. I understand that numerous students agree with me and love their school. For kids cheating their way with money, this is completely untrue. I have been at Pingry for a very long time and I can't tell you how many kids have been expelled for vaping, doing drugs, sexual assault, racism, and more vile actions. Pingry is extremely strict with this and the honor code is not used as a weapon, but more as a guideline. There are kids that got expelled immediately with billionaires for parents and have not been on school grounds since. Faculty destroying student self worth is the topic I disagree with the most. There are so many trusted adults in the school and for the reviews saying that they suck probably got failed and just trying to throw dirt. The teachers are very uplifting and help the students non-stop. Teachers also might favor students, but thats alright because whatever school you go to that might happen and it is not all the teachers at Pingry that do that. Pingry is an amazing school and If it was so terrible then why is it the third best school in NJ on Niche? I am not sure what these clowns are thinking putting these reviews, but is a Saturday night and this took like 20 minutes. Guaranteed all of these clowns are either Pingry rejects or got expelled. This is difficult to do in any school but SHP teaches that "your SHP brothers are actually family. It is obvious that the students have true concern for one another (even if they don't know that brother personally). Alumni seem to feel so much like SHP was their home that they never forget about the brotherhood & continue to introduce themselves if they see anything that makes them feel like the student or adult must have some tie to the school. There are so many clubs & sports available. Students have so many different types of opportunities to find "their tribe". The students truly enter as boys and leave as self confident educated men. The education is second to none with many different areas of study. The discipline must be just right b/c the boys all are well mannered, decent people that learn very quickly how to advocate for themselves. In addition, they are required to learn & participate in volunteer work yearly by assisting their fellow man with no judgement. Their values become incredibly strong. It is truly a wonderful school for boys from various economic & demographic parts of the world. I highly recommend it.

My sister goes to Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) and their parking is 100000X better than Union! There are lots so far away that students have to walk so far just to get to the campus and even then, the faculty gets the closest parking - which takes up most of the first 3 lots because God forbid they have to walk more than 5 feet away from the school. And in the snow/rain, it's horrible the way they expect students to want to go to this school with terrible parking lots, walk 20 feet just to get to the campus, and go to class. At that rate, you should take online courses or better yet, go to RVCC! RV is 1000X better and if it wasn't for my program being American Language and Deaf Studies, I would have gone there! Their parking lots alone are reason enough for people to want to go there! If that doesn't get you ready to go, go to Raritan because you do NOT have to PAY for a parking ticket! They have separate dividers for the faculty and staff through a parking ticket, but for students, it's free!! The silent study rooms. I had time between my classes to go there and it was good, except for when people are TALKING IN A SILENT STUDY ROOM! It is silent! I don't know if these students can't read the sign on the door because almost everyone was talking during a certain time - around 12-4. It is a silent study room! There is no group work! No whispering! No talking! And no videos! It is not rocket science or brain surgery! Do NOT do it!! And, on top of that, they would have construction going on again near the silent study room for who knows what, so because of that noise, many people didn't bother to obey the rules of the room, so more people started to talk. That room was also put right next to a different room where students could go for leisure time or group study, so every once in a while, I would hear loud laughter and even some banging on the wall as the students on the other side were arguing over some answers for their homework. What kind of "genius" puts a silent study room right next to a room where students can have group study?! I was constantly telling people to "please go outside" or "please, no group study" because it was a SILENT STUDY ROOM! They need to have someone there ensuring that students who go in do NOT TALK! I would be studying for tests/quizzes/homework/exams, and so many students would be talking and having a group study together! I HATED that college! If Raritan Valley had my program as a Major, I would have been thrilled to have gone to that college, but Union had it, so I was forced to choose that one. Union College was absolutely awful! Terrible parking, horrible design, unbelievable slow learning with basic topics I learned in middle/high school, and very lazy security who are too busy on their phones or sitting at the desk, watching YouTube videos or playing Solitaire. If they have your program at Raritan Valley Community College, go there! It is so much better, my sister is always telling me good things about the staff that help her out, and the parking alone is definitely worth it!
