Just to be clear, this is for Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley Michigan. This place is horrible to deal with! Oct 2016 we buried my father there and it wasn't until July 2016 they finally threw some grass seed down to cover the grave. It was nearly a year before his headstone was placed. They did make sure to call and harass my mother MONTHLY for 2 YEARS for "extra services & grief counseling" even after declining those services with each call. Sept 3023 my mother passed, Wendy couldn't be bothered with us after we caught her in a lie within the first 5 minutes so she passed us along to someone else to finish up paperwork on a prepaid service. The day of the service, the workers were rude and rushed us along, talking loudly and being obnoxious the whole time. Then we were told they would have the headstone back in place, the brass death date added and grass fixed "soon". Well, it's been 8 months and nothing is fixed. I'm out there at least twice a month and it looks ridiculous. read more

My mother has been laid to rest here and to say the least this is the crappiest place we could have put her for forever. Like to the point I wish moving her remains wouldn't be such a process and costly. Every big day or milestone that I come up here, the gates are shut. They never clean anything. For weeks after a storm, dozens of plots had things blown and broken and nobody touched it. There has to be one person working here from the work that gets done. The hours used to be "dawn to dusk" and now it's 5-6 hours a day. If you want to be able to actually visit your loved one and be proud of where they are, stay far away from here. Just tried to take my sisters at 4pm today to visit our mom for her birthday and realized it's now only open until 3pm. I understand having closing times but you are a place for the living to visit their loved ones and you put 5 hours in a day. What a joke. read more

On December 4, my dog Max passed away. He was 14 years 2 months old. I had at that point needed to find a cemetery to bury my dog since cremation was not an option. I was following the canons of the Orthodox Church in which we do not allow cremation since it is considered a pagan ritual and hence a person that does decide to be cremated cannot be buried by the church. I ended up at Roseland Cemetery and the person that handled my case, Chelsea Rowan, Family Service Counselor, and she was a very big help in every way possible. We looked at markers for my dog, where he would be buried, the transport of Max's remains to the cemetery. She helped me in every way possible and answered my questions when I had them. I have total satisfaction in the way things transpired. I will maintain contact with Chelsea even after all is completed because of the way things transpired. This cemetery has both maintenance issues as well as customer service issues. The Columbarium, Garden of Peace, at Roseland Park Cemetery, Berkley, MI, has been deteriorating for over a decade. I have taken a lot of photos, over the years that show the problems progressing as time went on. I have been voicing my family's complaints regarding the structure of Garden of Peace. I have been given the run around, and bounced from RPC to Midwest Memorial Group back to RPC. I have been lied to more times than I can count. I warned RPC years ago, that the structure was failing to the point where door panels to the crypts were going to fall off. Well, the door panel to my relatives fell off and broke, not once but twice that I witnessed. Last event was discovered on March 31, 2024. My relatives crypt opened and filled with the broken stone debris and their urns removed. No one notified our family. Long story short, 4 of my loved one's urns were recently removed from the cemetery due to the results of the neglected columbarium, Garden of Peace. My family has requested, in writing, for money back on all 4 crypts. No response from RPC. No returned calls. So, it is now slowly becoming a legal issue, and a big one at that. I would not deal with this cemetery if I were looking for a final resting place for loved ones. There is no excuse for letting a columbarium fall apart, like this one did. I know experiences vary and I would like to give my perspective of the experience with Roseland Park. I lost my mother March of 2021 and shopping for final arrangement's was emotionally difficult. When I went to Roseland Park and met with Wendy she could not have made me feel more at ease, I was reluctant due to the reviews but felt I needed visit for myself seeing the cemetery in my community for nearly my whole life and it always looked well maintained. I visited Roseland Park and two others and I definitely could tell the difference. The level of detail to my mothers final arrangement far exceeded my expectations. They were courteous and not rushed. The grounds are very well taken care of, I appreciated that the grounds are regularly cleared of dead floral arrangements. I also appreciate that they are sure to not try to cut the ground when they are over saturated with water, I would honestly prefer temporary tall grass over seeing tire tracks on my mothers grave plot. The after care meeting was another point of them going above and beyond they shared with me so many useful documents to close out my mother's affairs' that I never had considered. Then then we met again and I was presented with a beautiful memorial gift of my mother. I went to visit on Mother's day and they had staff outside giving away free flag for the grave sites and had a beverage truck on location giving away free drinks for everyone visiting their loved ones over the weekend. I would highly recommend Roseland Park to any family who truly cares about their family members final internment. WARNING TO ANYONE CONSIDERING THIS CEMETERY! RUN! My sister has been buried there for almost 20 years now and we have had nothing but problems with her headstone sinking and not being maintained. We PERSONALLY had to find someone to raise it and fix it from sinking! So many people have stopped in the office and informed them of the problem, and they gave lip service and did nothing! It has been brought to my attention that my brother, who was buried there in April 2021 is also enduring the neglect that my sisters gravesite had endured by this cemetery! The DISRESPECT that this cemetery not only showed my sister but now also my brother is awful and heartbreaking! My brothers gravesite as of a couple days ago, (he was laid to rest 2 months ago) the dirt hasn't been filled in all the way, no grass seed, nothing. They got their money and could care less. This cemetery is not only rude towards the grieving family but extremely DISRESPECTFUL to the final resting place of our loved ones. I would not recommend this place at all! read more

10 years ago, my family decided to make Roseland the final resting place for my father. The staff was very helpful, friendly, & empathetic. Emily was wonderful. The only thing that we didn't like was the extra charge on the day of his services. We had a deadline of when we needed to arrive (from the funeral service to the cemetery). We arrived on time but the last couple of cars in a very long procession pulled through the gate minutes later. They stopped the hearse & all following cars at the front of the park and would not take us to the burial site until we paid a cash late arrival fee (I think about $150). This was a little insensitive as everyone was visibly emotional from the funeral services. I feel like this should have been waived or at a minimum, contact us later about this fee. After the 1st year or 2, the headstone began to sink. Emily was extremely helpful in making sure that it was properly reset and followed up by texting us pictures. I've been photographing headstones in local cemeteries for FindAGrave.com. There were several I needed in Roseland. The place is enormous and I knew that without help I'd never find the graves I needed. I contacted the cemetery by email and heard back from Bernice a few days later. She was extremely nice and helped me locate the first five graves. She said to contact her again with more. I did, and got a response from a different staffer, Jim, who was even more friendly and helpful. Lastly, when I was actually in the cemetery I realized I had no map. I called the office and was helped by Chris. She was just as friendly and professional as Jim and Bernice. The office was closed to the public but she said she'd email me a map. I sure hope people check these reviews before falling into this mess, I wish I had. Both my parents are buried at this cemetery and like others have stated: these are the most rude and ruthless people who are selling these grave plots. Disgusting salesman who do nothing but prey on your sadness and continually try to upsell you on everything. Nothing but a bunch of leeches and liars. When my father passed away they took my mother for a lot of money and sold her two plots, one for her as well and a double headstone. She was then harassed for months and months, by phone, for additional services, which she declined each time. Now that she has passed, we, her family, are still dealing with these unkind people. It is now eight months since her passing and she is yet to have her grave site put together and no date of death added to her headstone. We have made numerous calls and IF you get a hold of someone its always a run around with no straight answers. Please, please don't make the same mistake my family did by giving these people your money. read more

Be very careful with any contract with this cemetary. If you have a credit and do another contract they will charge you the sales tax before the credit is applied which is illegal. Place is mostly a dump with four feet pot holes and mud to your knees. Rotting trees that fall on the headstones and remain that way. Stay away. Bunch of Crooks!!!!! read more

The staff at the front desk is very rude and they lie to your face because all that matters is money and nothing else. Two months ago I paid for my grandfather's grave marker and they told me it would be done and placed in 1 to 2 weeks tops. Today I went in to their office, 2 months later, for an update and was informed that it would be another 16 to 20 weeks before the marker would even be produced. No respect whatsoever for the dead or the living, no morals, just another money grab. read more

Not sure where the negative reviews are coming from. I went there this past weekend to find some family graves. The office was extremely busy. A man helped me find who I was looking for a pointed me in the direction. I had a hard time locating the graves as I have never been there before, and it had been a long while since family was there to visit. A young man named David (DJ) saw me searching. He stopped what he was doing, came over and asked me if I needed some help. He asked me to follow him and then as he needed more direction, went to the office. In looking up the phone number I came across a review for this cemetery. (It did not occur to me to review a cemetery...) First off, this had been a beautiful place. No longer. I was shocked at the maintenance...one example was the dozens of large dead trees that should be taken down. I was told that this cemetery was sold some years back to a company in New Jersey. The staff do have aggressive sales techniques as they have quotas. They badgered me related to a simple ashes innernment and arrived at the gravesite and wanted me to come to the office for grief counseling LOL GRIEF COUNSELING FROM A SALES REP !!! I got an earful about the place when I called a local engraver to do the stone work. If you don't already own a plot I would think seriously here. They do hound you with calls and you really have to have the skills to shut it down. When I did they switched to calling my sister. read more

This is the worst cemetery I have ever dealt with. You call and get "no one is in the office right now. The " roads " will total you car. There is no care of the stones even after 4 requests for them to be raised. They do a supposed work order and never do the work. I went yesterday to transfer some graves and said I could not without making an appointment and coming back. When my mother died and I gave permission for burial in the remaining graves to my sister and husband, it was done 3 times and never done right. It appears no on in the office knows or cares what they are doing. Lastly, the deeds I went to transfer I was told would cost $399 to transfer THIS IS ROBBERY. Parkview Cemetery in Livonia charges $50 and I am sure most would be in a reasonable range not priced like this place. I am glad I never planned to put anymore family there. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else. There are nice, honest and reasonable places available. I would give a a zero if it were an option. Many cemeteries charge $50 to transfer deeds. 20 years ago, when my daughter died, this was a nice cemetery.  This week, when making arrangements to bury my son, I was appalled at the way family was treated.  The woman who answers the phone, Shannon?, was rude and condescending to our grieving family.  All we wanted to do at this point was look at alternative headstones, yet Shannon? wouldn't allow such a thing.  Only the woman who took our deposit could help us according to Shannon?.  Had Roseland not had our deposit (which they weren't refunding) we would have taken our loved one elsewhere. The cemetery has not been well maintained, many headstones are barely visible they've sunken so much, and even if you tell them at the office that your loved one's headstone needs to be raised, they don't do it, unless you stay on them constantly.  The section markers are missing in many places so unless you know where you're going , without the section markers its easy to get lost.   Even tho I now have 2 children buried at Roseland, I have instructed my remaining family to bury me elsewhere.  Sad that this place really doesn't care about the grieving family, but only about the $$'s they can railroad out of a person's grief. read more

Went to Roseland Park Cemetery today to put a wreath on my mother's grave. The website said you must go to the office to have it "tagged". Little did I know that they charge you $6.00 to put flowers or a wreath on your loved ones grave! Could not believe this. Never heard of this practice. I guess this is to penalize you for not using their grave decoration service which is very high priced. If I had to do it again, I'd never choose this cemetery. Poorly maintained also. I would not even give them a star. I was made to give them a star to post. My father was buried there. The day he was buried there was a sales lady present to over see the burial . My mother who is in her eighties wanted a moment for a family prayer. The backhoe driver became very upset because he was forced to work on a Saturday and became very vocal. He was asked to wait by the sales lady. He walked by the family and boo hoo they died. He waited i asked a family member to take his pic so we would later know who he was. He then got out of back hoe hit them with his hat and threatened not to bury him . Mind you this whole time the saleslady did not say a word. They reimbursed my mothers credit card twice the cost of the extra charge of a Saturday. They then took it back out of the card. This place does not deserve to bury a loved one. I called this place for a family member and I was quickly put off by the aggressive, high pressure approach taken by the woman who answered the phone - I could only surmise that she was working for a commission. The following week, Roseland Park displayed on my Caller Id screen four different times. If you decide to call them, be sure to hit *67 first. Once they have your contact information - they will phone stalk you. I have since learned from others who have family buried there, that they receive routine calls, pushing to sell grave blankets, wreathes, advance planning funeral packages, etc. read more

My family and I are very disappointed with the insensitivity and abrasive nature of the staff at Roseland Park Cemetery. I just read the past reviews and unfortunately, they still hold true. Something needs to be done. People are in a fragile state when they are dealing with the cemetery and to be treated with such disrespect is disgusting. They are all about the sale, and relentless. Even going so far as to tell my dad that if he doesn't get a grave marker on my moms grave by Mother's Day, his daughters will be really upset with him. Last year (May/June 2016) I visited the cemetery office to arrange new markers for my father and grandparents. I was courteously presented with options and the follow-up sending me proofs and making arrangements cannot be faulted. It is a shame the others on this site had different experiences but I assure you those I encountered were very professional. read more

It appears to be a nice and pretty final resting place for your loved ones but there is nothing nice or resting for you once they have your contact information. It wasn't enough that they continuously lost the paperwork arranging for my father's burial and then once complete and we had an appointment to meet them and turn over his ashes they locked it in an office that no one there had a key to but then they have to call me constantly for the most unimportant matters. They called three times just to let me know that members of their staff have left and this new person would be there for me. For what? My father is already buried, there is nothing left that I need from you. They called just to see how I felt about their services. The first time was fine and they got a good response from me, the other 6 times was unnecessary and they were asked to stop calling me. Another time they called for something, forget what, and the topic of my mother came up. They immediately started on how I needed to come in immediately to sign paperwork for her burial. She's healthy and alive; there was no reason to be pushy and insensitive by trying to MAKE me plan my mother's funeral now. When I did not come in, they called another family member to push the subject. They have called to offer me an estate/final arrangement planning guide. I asked them to mail it to me; they refused and insisted that I come in to get it. They called a couple more times until my husband when to get it. It wasn't worth the paper it was written on, an internet search will get you better information. Even after getting the information, they kept calling me to come get it, mostly recently Monday night, more than a year after picking it up. I swear that they have a crystal ball and know the day that you manage to not hurt and/or cry for your loss because that is the day they will call. They also insist on reminding you who is buried at their facility, as though I would confuse them with the other place I buried the half of my father...? It does not matter how nicely or rudely you ask/tell them to stop calling, they will continue to call. I have asked nicely, I have demanded, I have screamed and cussed and they won't stop calling me; it has been just over 2 years. They always call just before the anniversary of my father's death, right around his birthday and on Monday, the day after what would have been my parent's 51st anniversary. I am now leaning HEAVILY toward having my father's cremations exhumed but I still doubt it will make them stop calling me. After burying my father I found out that they did the same thing to a friend whose daughter was murdered. I am tired of these people sticking a knife and salt in my wounds.
