Although it was late a night they made the arrangements to do so. Then, mom and I met with Larry the next day to begin the planning process. He asked us questions to understand our needs and walked us through several different options, including options for flowers, cards, guest book, military honors, selecting a minister, etc. He also explained they would order the death certificates for us and notify social security. He made the process easy to understand and with transparency regarding all costs. His staff was very helpful too. A few days later I called and asked about photo boards and the woman I spoke with told me I could come by and pick some up, along with a bag of pins, to take home. I took them home and made up a few boards of photos to show during the service. On the day of the funeral I went in a little early to drop off the photo boards. My neighbors also dropped off some food and beverages and a cooler with ice in the lower level sitting area. Matt was very helpful during the service as were other women who worked there. Larry checked in as well. During the service we had more people than anticipated and they quickly arranged more chairs. We also had the option to use the chapel for the service but decided to stay in the room up front. We had a lovely service for my dad and we thought that Pastor Drex did a really nice job. Because we were leaving the funeral home and going directly to dinner, they told me I could leave everything and come back the next day to pick everything up, which I did. Matt helped me load all the flowers in my car and he had everything ready to go for me including the flag, death certificates, all of the photos (they took down the photo boards for me), the guest book, extra memorial cards, and my dad's ashes. We were really pleased with the care and consideration of the entire team. They helped take a lot of stress out of the arrangements for us during a difficult time.

They were wonderful though I didn't think much about it at those times since I didn't have anything to do with the planning. My sweet Mom passed away November 22, 2011 and my parents lived up north but we wanted the funeral through Phillips. That was a Tuesday evening and Thursday was Thanksgiving. I called Phillips and they sent a driver up to pick my Mom up which would be a good three hour drive in normal conditions. He said that the deer were out and all over the roads so he had to drive slowly. We were happy he made it safely. We asked him why it seems like so many people pass away in the winter. Does it just seem that way or is it true? He told us they do starting the Tuesday before Thanksgiving (the day my Mom passed) and going through the winter. When we came down to make arrangements, we told them we did not want the funeral on Monday as it was our Dad's birthday and that would be hard for him and us also. They helped us make the arrangements with the cemetery. My parents lived in and my Dad still lives in an Amish Community and is friends with many Amish people. Since Mom passed away, Dad started a taxi service for the Amish. They hire him to drive them to work, shopping, doctor appointments, errands, to bid jobs etc. A bus load of Amish people came down to Phillips to the visitation for my Mom. The people that were working at Phillips at the time they came were in awe. They knew that they must've thought a lot of my parents in order to do that. Amish aren't very comfortable in a situation like that but the people at Phillips held the door open for them to come from the bus, and welcomed them. They are wonderful people.

During our dad's last few days in the funeral home, we reached out to step to see what services they can provide in packages they had to offer. Charmaine was excellent as she explained all the options available. Since some of the family members were limited and the time they had to stay, we needed the funeral to be within a few days of dad's passing. The funeral and viewing would be a morning experience with one hour for the family and 30 minutes for the visitors. Then we drive out to the cemetery for a grief side interment. During our planning session with Steph funeral home, we selected the vault casket, and insert. Charmaine called the cemetery and arranged for the internment. They showed us the options for prayer cards. They were also able to provide a minister for the funeral three days later. When we arrived the day of the funeral, we were absolutely amazed as to the superb job they did in preparing dad. After the family visitation a few family friends stop by and after visiting with them for a bit, the service was ready to start. The Pastor began by welcoming , family and friends and announcing each part of the service. Music was pre-recorded and played by the funeral home staff. After the service, we've gathered briefly outside for family pictures and headed out to the cemetery in a second car processional. The entertainment was simple, we watched them places casket in the vault in the vault into the ground. The staff was holding our fresh cut flowers we had at the funeral home for us to put some on top of the vault. For us, it was a very, very good experience. If you need to bury a loved on, I recommend you check them out.

I completed the funeral services for my mother-in-law at the Gramer Funeral Home in Clawson in July 2024. As part of our family's customs, I plan to carry her ashes overseas next year for the immersion ceremony (Asthi Visarjan). When I submitted the application to the Consulate in October 2025 for a no-objection certificate to transport the ashes, they requested a cremation certificate with some specific information. I contacted Gramer Funeral Home for assistance, and Megan and Paul were extremely helpful. They prepared the certificate the same day--within just a few hours--and provided the required letter without any hesitation, even though a year had passed since the cremation. Their support, promptness, and understanding during this additional step meant a great deal to me and my family. Thank you, Navin

Unfortunately, my family had to pull together a funeral for my dad unexpectedly in early May. Unexpected is the key word because if it's not already planned, all the decisions and details can be incredibly overwhelming - all while you're grieving. Mandziuk & Son were wonderful from start to finish, and helped make everything seamless. They guided us, were very professional, accommodating, and perhaps most importantly, helped us pull everything together incredibly quickly. For example, we picked out some pictures and some songs that they were able to create a nice memorial video for us within 24 hours. They also work closely with the churches and cemeteries so the family doesn't have to worry about coordinating any of that. With their help, I felt we were able to really honor my dad's life and for that I'll always be grateful.
