She is knowledgeable and continues to explore new techniques and things to try. One of my most favorite additions is some heated bamboo stick she uses in parts of her sessions. I also love her stone massages (especially during the cold MN winters). Dana will tailor your massage to your needs; you only need to communicate what they are. For example, she helped me so much with scar tissue and flexibility after I broke my arm (humerus bone) one year. If I tell Dana about a certain problem that she doesn't know how to treat off the top of her head, she takes the time to research in the reference books she keeps in her office.

I have become a regular at Elite Thereputic Massage. They have real, Tui na Chinese massage. This…read morestyle involves using the forearms, elbows, palms (and even knees and feet sometimes) rather than the finger tips to get deeper into the tissues for a much deeper level of relaxation. I used to have to constantly ask massage therapists to go softer because their pointy fingertips hurt my muscles. Here, I can get a good, very firm-pressured, deep-tissue massage without hurting my muscles in the process. I have chronic lower back pain and I go to see Sissi on a regular basis. I've tried massage, chiropractic care, you-name-it to find relief from my back pain (and the relief only lasts a few hours), but this is the first place I've found that can give me several days of relief from a 1 hour session! They offer normal, table-massage or futon-massage. I like the futon because I'm bigger and there is a bit more room. The futon massage is only a few bucks more, but I think it is worth it. They also have a shower on site, so I can clean up before or after my massage. They use a nice, unscented oil to massage and then a hot towel to clean off the oil afterward. They do full-body massage (including the glutes) which I believe is a major contributor to my lower-back-pain relief. Vickie, the owner, is usually at the front desk is so nice & pleasant to deal with. She is always smiling. Sissi's hands (arms, elbows) take away the pain in my back, and her kind, quiet respect melts away all stress. I can't say enough good things about how professional they all are!

April was a wonderful massage therapist and I really…read moreappreciated that she didn't try to chat through the whole experience like some other places I've been. Also REALLY enjoyed that she didn't try to tell me that I needed to come back three times a week for the rest of my life if I didn't want to die a slow, painful death. Isn't a sales pitch after a relaxing service experience just the worst?? In addition, I know this topic is a deal breaker for some so I'd like to note it here. The lotion she used was not overly oily or heavily scented. I had to run a couple of errands on the way home and didn't even feel completely repulsive doing so! Next time, I would pass on the scalp massage. It was really loud and mostly just made my hair greasy. If you've never been to an office park before, it can seem a little strange and intimidating, but don't worry! April's space is very home-y in contrast to the industrial building.
