    Winterhawks Game 2010
    Mikhail H.

I have seen many a hockey game here and sat all over the arena from top to bottom - there REALLY is not a bad seat in the house! I am happy I do not drink beer since I hear it is steep but I will say though the food is overpriced (as with ANY stadium), it is not nearly as bad as some. For some items it seemed downright cheap! I have also been to catered events upstairs and to a catered box here - not a bad way to watch an event at all - they do a solid job. This arena really is a credit to Portland.

We had a great time watching the Blazers put the hurt to the A-town Hawks last Saturday. My wife had a co-worker give her some tickets since he couldn't make it up from Eugene. We both wanted to drink before and after the game so instead of being un-elite and Drinking and Driving, we decided to catch the max. AWESOME. We walked from our appartment to the max and got off right in front of the arena, how convenient! When we entered we asked an older fellow where we would be able to find our seats. After he checked out or tickets, he said, "You actually follow these stairs up to the next level. Everything is free except alcohol." What did you just say? Huh? I'm confused....did he just say everything was free? For the next 15 seconds while walking up the stairs I was wondering what I was going to see. WOW!! Meat trays, Cheese trays, fruit, fried rice, egg rolls, short ribs, pizza, hot dogs, pop corn, all candy, ice cream, soda, water....FREE! I was shocked and surprised! Apparently we were in the preferred seating area and it was part of the seats. We pigged out and enjoyed a great Blazer performance. The arena is open, no obstructed views, seats are packed tight, and if you are sitting in the middle of a row, every person will have to stand up to let you out. Which sucks to say, "Excuse me, Sorry, Excuse me, Thanks, Appreciate it," Sure the time may have been a bit enhanced by being able to pig out for $0.00, but the price of the drinks knocked us back to reality. $9 for a cocktail, $8 for an IPA. DAAAMN!! Good thing I had a flask of whisky on me. Shhhh! I didn't just say that. We had a great time, people around us were nice and conversational, L.A. was hitting his turn around jumpers, Batum was all over the court, Camby was building a brick house from the charity stripe... 4 stars for this PDX venue!

We came here to see the Trailblazers vs. Clippers game during a very bad storm. I know it rains a lot here but this was one of their worst storms of the year so I was surprised so many fans trekked their way to the arena to watch the game. It's a beautiful arena and they have really good beers too. Why am I the first to review? Portland Yelpers...get reviewing!

My first time at the Rose Garden was also my first time at an NBA game since I lived in Chicago...and if it tells you how long ago that was, Michael Jordan and Scotty Pippin were pretty much the talk of the town! I won some tickets for the Blazers/Hawks game at work and decided it would be a good idea to go. So my friend Steve and I head on over to the Rose Garden and I was wowed that Portland has such a venue! There really is no bad seat in the house, but with that said, our were particularly good - behind the 1st half visiting team backboard about twenty rows from the action - pretty cool! I didn't bother taking the bar up on any drinks (not being willing to take out a large personal loan to fund the transaction) but the whole arena is very modern, with huge monitors and elaborate light-up boards that run the entire perimeter of the structure. The game was fun, and the arena was easy to navigate (even with the over-eager security guard who decided that I would make a good random search! Profiling! Yelpers are being singled out! XD ) I really enjoyed my time at the Rose Garden, and hope to take in more games, shows and what-not in the future!

As far as sporting events, this is one of the best experience sports fans can get. I was away on business and the colleagues and I decided to take an adventure to the Rose Garden, since none of us had been there before. We were all from out of town. Since being a giant Basketball fan, my only experience will obviously be the Staples Center for comparisons. So on Wednesday we got tickets ummm (scalpers) and got great seats, lower level bowl - 50.00 tickets in the 200 section behind the basket. You know the 120.00 tickets for Lakers and 60.00 for Clips! We got in the building and this place was packed. What? Fans actually arrive before the game cheer? Completely unheard of at Staple Center for Lakers. The place was loud! The game was Blazers vs. Mavs and they booed the Mavs every opportunity they got. The environment was similar to that of a college basketball game. For some inferior complex reason, they actually brought up the Lakers at a Mavs game and the fans went crazy of course. Laker Haters! Ehh! Now the food, for 7.00 you get a giant Italian Sausage cooked to order with grilled peppers and onions. For 10.00 you get a plain Hot Dog called the Sky Scraper Dog at Staples. The Italian Sausage was so good that I had two of them. Awesome!! Not good for the health though! I recommend this place if you are in town. It is what a sporting event should be, not talking on the cell phone, texting, and looking for celebrities. I love the Lakers but Staples suck as far as fans goes! TIPS - It can get real loud here, don't go here if you have an ear infection. Your ear drums will blow up and spill out of your nose!

We enjoyed Portland vs OKC tonight and had a wonderful time. As far as parking, it can be a mess to navigate, especially when leaving an event. I recommend arriving early or paying for parking ahead of time when going to events. The only other downfall is the seats are narrow, uncomfortable and you feel like a sardine. Overall the Moda is a nice venue and offers many great events.

It was a short visit, so I didn't get to fully experience the game day atmosphere, the concessions, or the general operations of the arena. I did get to watch my Arkansas team play in March Madness and a few other games. I sat in the nosebleed section, which was a bit challenging to see the opponents, but the games were still amazing. I attended all four games I could, so I don't have any complaints about that. The atmosphere was incredible. Although the stadium wasn't packed, the passionate fans made it feel like a packed house throughout the entire game. The game day experience was truly exceptional. The seating arrangement was a bit uncomfortable. The 300 seating sections felt like a 30-degree angle, with the seats positioned just a tad too close together, making them feel unsafe. It's as if you can almost feel yourself falling if you The lines for concessions and restrooms were not too long, which was a pleasant surprise. Getting into the arena was also quick. The arena itself appears modern and well-maintained, with no visible signs of wear and tear. Overall, I'm looking forward to visiting the Moda Center again in the future to see NCAA basketball games, professional-level games, or even concerts when I'm in Portland. I'm definitely a fan of this facility.

The Trailblazers were playing Boston (and actually won) just before the puck drop, so the Max was pretty packed. Still better than driving by a long shot. The game was really fun...the first period had two fights...no I am serious, the refs actually let them fight. Usually they come in and break the kids up, but they let them fight. This made my son really happy...he was hoping for this. I gotta admit I was psyked too. I was yelling along with him. The game was really fun. Sadly, the Tri-Cities team tied the game 4-4 with 2.1 seconds left in the 3rd period. Then they pretended like they were playing soccer and rocked the 'Hawks to sleep before blowing by them and scoring the winning goal in Overtime. Oh well. Still super fun and worth the time with my son. #GoHawks

Prior to watching…read morea couple of Portland Winterhawks games, I looked up this venue and saw that it's also registered in the National Register of Historic Places, interesting. This arena opened up in 1960, and at the time was considered the largest civic and technological structure in the Pacific Northwest. Later was renamed Veterans Memorial Coliseum in 2011 as a tribute to the veterans of WWII and the Korean War. Fast-forward to today... ~ Parking ~ Parking within the Rose Quarter, shared with the Moda Center, is my recommendation as to 'where to park'. There are two main parking structures, and both require a pre-paid parking QR code upon entry. If you don't have a QR then good luck turning around. Some hotels nearby have designated parking spaces available as well. Which isn't be too bad of a walk, depending. Unfortunately, both the parking structures and hotels use the ParkWhiz app which can be kinda shady. But my recommendation is to still buy pre-paid parking at the Rose Quarter, even though it can cost between $30-$50. Yeah, ridiculous! And purchase asap as spaces run out fast. There's always street parking too, but that's at your own risk. ~ Venue ~ Yes it definitely seems "dated" here, but I expected it. Well maintained for the most part, I'd say. The outside grounds are still getting a facelift, but inside the place wasn't so bad. No issues getting through Security screening. They even have a 'Toyota priority line' if you own a Toyota. Just show them your keys. The concessions are expensive as usual, but again to me, it's just expected with practically every sporting venue everywhere. Along the windows, there were other food vendors like BBQ, popcorn/candy, and Dippin' Dots. I usually do the venue concessions as they serve local beers. ~ Seating / View ~ For the games, I purchased in Section 16 Row L (blue seats) and Section 61 Row B (red seats). The blue seats in the lower section felt newer and OK. Enough cushioning. The red seats were in the higher section, so I think they were a bit older and slightly more crammed then the blue seats. The ushers were helpful, and the rows had big lettering so you can't miss your row. And I feel the seats were angled nicely too. It's true as some yelpers stated, that 'there really isn't a bad seat in the house'. Except maybe the front row of the higher sections. ~ Restroom ~ Again, this place was built in the 60s, so yeah, it's old and crammed in there. The best time to do your thing is during the game unfortunately as there's less traffic. Always long lines between periods or intermission. Honestly, the place really earns between 3 and 4-stars, but there weren't enough annoying negatives for me. The venue is tolerable as I've been to worse. Prices have gone up big-time! So, I might come back only if I feel prices are fair for a particular event. But overall, it's an oldie but goodie! One last note: I'll upgrade this review to a fifth star, only it their website would highlight: The 1992 Tournament of the Americas was held here, it's the qualifying tournament for the Olympic basketball team which premiered the "Dream Team" playing in their first game together!

As a big NBA fan in the late 90s and into the 2010s, and as a Georgia Tech alum and longtime men's basketball season ticket holder, never in a million years would I have guessed Damon Stoudamire - of all people - would be one of Tech's head coaches. That was a connection I would have never made. I always saw Damon as a Portland/Pacific NW/NBA kind of guy, *not* an ACC men's basketball coach. I told Damon that when I met him, back in 2024, and he listed a few connections to Atlanta that included his sons. I knew he was well-connected in the basketball world and I could see why Tech's then-athletic director J Batt hired him. Damon can now add ACC head men's basketball coach to his journeyman resume. Also, Damon hired Bonzi Wells to be on his staff. I watched those two up close and in person at about 50 home games over the last three years (2023-2026). Anyway, this review is supposed to be about the Blazers. When I think of the Blazers, I think of Damon, Bonzi, and the "Jail Blazers." I first saw them in person during the 1999-2000 season at Staples Center, Portland at the Los Angeles Clippers. I liked that team and wanted them to win the 2000 NBA championship. It's too bad they didn't because they got so close. I highly recommend watching the 2026 Netflix documentary "Untold: Jail Blazers." It features Damon, Bonzi, and Rasheed Wallace. It's very entertaining to hear their first-hand accounts of the Jail Blazers era. I grew to really like and respect Damon and was sad to see him go. As a diehard Tim Duncan-era Spurs fan, I thought Tiago Splitter did a nice job as interim coach of the Blazers this season.

Freestyles are also less expensive than other rinks in the areas. If you have done a learn to skate program there are some more advanced classes you can take like Choreo & Moves. The coaching staff is awesome, knowledgeable and patient. They go above and beyond to make students feel welcome, safe and included. (Special shout-out to Lydia!) Lloyd Center is also great for folks just wanting to skate for fun. Much of the day is available as Open skate and there are in and out privileges for the day. That means you can skate, pop off to grab lunch or shop and then skate again. It's a great little outing to do with friends or family.

Alright well. Took my nieces skating here. I don't have much to compare it to but the experience…read morewas fun for them. Price was a bit spendy but I found a coupon so it worked out well. It included the skates. It was particularly busy that day but manageable. You can rent a locker for $5. It's bigger than it looks..was able to fit 4 pairs of teenager shoes in there, a jacket and a purse. I'd go again. If I wasn't so worried that my nieces would need me for something, I would have just walked the mall but I got stuck taking pics and holding their phones like a chump..haha. good times.
