This appears to be the only motel in town. So if you're exhausted and it's bed time you don't have much of a choice. That can be a scary deal. Often places will take advantage of the situation and maintain a motel at a level just barely above what people will accept. They'll endure a reputation as a fleabag place and keep all the money they might have spent on repairs and upkeep as profit.
The glorious news is that the folks that run the Rose Motel refuse to do business that way. I walked into the office at 11 or midnight and was greeted by a cheerful attendant. I asked if being a AAA member or paying in cash might lower the price and she dropped the price $5 to $56 out the door. I opened the door to my room and was delighted to see a pristinely clean room that smelled faintly of flowers. The floor was in good shape. The bed was in good shape. The furniture looked brand new!
I had left myself to the mercy of fate and had somehow stumbled on to this beautiful motel. I was floored!!
The only improvement I can see is the wifi. I couldn't get any. But that meant that I wasn't distracted and could more fully appreciate what a wonderfully well maintained place this was. read more
