No towing or relocating involved at all, simply winch out of the mud. Maybe 20min actual work. I asked for a price over the phone and he told me he would need to see job. Based on knowing the approximate going rate (I had used two towing services in the last 8mo) and he seemed like an honorable guy, I mistakenly did not get his price before the job. He took full advantage and charged me a whopping $416. He had to drive approximately 5min from his location to do the job. I got 3 estimates of that job after the fact. They all asked the size and location of the tractor and asked how close they could get to it considering the mud. The three estimates were $90-125, $100-125, $100-150. He charges me approximately 400% above market rate. After subsequent estimates, I tried to reason with him on the price gouging and he used some weak and in my opinion, untrue reasons to justify this ridiculous charge. In my opinion, he did it because he could! Be aware, my suggestion is to use a more honorable service.

This company is one of the reasons Louisiana pays such high insurance premiums. they are either…read moreincompetent or crooks, probably both. Facts: 1. my friends family member was killed in a car accident and Rick's was called from the police list to pick up the vehicle. 2. when my friends family tried to get access to the vehicle Rick's employees said they needed a power of attorney access the vehicle without the owner. they told the employee that the owner was killed in the accident and the employee said " I know, Im sorry it's the Law". 3. in the state of Louisiana ( and in almost every other state) even if you have a power of attorney once the person granting the power of attorney dies the POA is no longer valid. it expires when you do. 4. in the above circumstances the car insurance company can give authorization to the family to access the vehicle to collect the family members belongings. My Opinion: 1. if this company did not know that the insurance could authorize the family the access ( which we got access the same day we called the insurance by advice from the state troopers office) then they probably shouldn't be on the police list to get these calls. 2. i believe they did know this rule and knew that the insurance company was paying the bill so the longer they have the vehicle the more money they can squeeze out of the insurance company because they know its a guaranteed payday for them. the insurance company was waiting for the family to let them know they got everything they needed out of the car so it could have it towed to a salvation yard and Rick's knew this and managed to get over a week of storage paid for for no good reason. And Louisiana residents wonder why we pay high insurance premiums its crooks like this squeezing insurance companies for all they can get that drive up our premiums. 3. once my friends family is done grieving i hope they file a complaint, this company should not be on a police call list if they don't know how to handle an accident in which the owner didn't survive. 4. put a note in your car of who you want to tow your vehicle if you are in an accident and are not conscious so crooks like this company cant take advantage of the situation.
