I always get thrown off by all of the choices we, as parents, face every year with various summer options. Once again, I am so glad I've resisted every year and sent the kids to Camp Kehillah. The staff is very consistent (still), the days are filled with amazing activities and the program varies for the older kids (offering lots of field trips and age appropriate games).While I love the Jewish aspect, our neighbor has gone who is not Jewish and they also love it feeling it's more community oriented than religious. Overall, an amazing experience.

Our daughter started at Oakview at age two, and from the moment we toured the school, we knew it was special. The warm and welcoming environment stood out to us. Every classroom felt joyful, engaging, colorful, and thoughtfully designed. After touring a handful of places we knew Oakview was the one. Over the years, it has been a joy to watch our daughters grow and thrive. Our oldest recently graduated and is heading to kindergarten with confidence, independence, and a genuine love of learning. I have especially loved seeing how much she admires and adores her teachers. The teachers really go above and beyond with unique and creative, hands-on projects and building relationships with each child and their families. Lastly, as newcomers to Marin, we met so many wonderful families through the school who have become some of our closest friends. Oakview has been an incredibly special part of our lives, and we are deeply grateful for the love, care, education, creativity, and community it has provided. We couldn't recommend it more highly.

The teachers lead with so much kindness and care and you can genuinely feel how much they value each child. It feels great knowing my two boys are safe, well cared for, having fun, and learning every day, not just academically, but also how to be kind little humans. It looked like things turned around for a year or two, but now they're worse now than before. The one remaining bright spot were the friends and community we built through the school, but now many families we know are pulling their kids out for other schools, or are actively planning on it in the coming year. The school is raising tuition and hoping to scoop up clueless newcomers to area who heard about how great MPMS was in the past, before they realize what it is now.

Who would become our adopted FR-AMILY, if you will. ;) RVNS is unparalleled in this respect imo. There is a true sense of inclusiveness and belonging, of high-touch/low-pressure engagement between the teachers and staff, the children, and the amazing families who enroll. RVNS has that special something that is so hard to put words to so I encourage you to schedule a tour and experience it for yourself. Just be forewarned...if your child is anything like mine you'll have a hard time getting them to leave after that tour! :) Also worth noting that during the Covid-19 era RVNS has masterfully embraced the heightened safety guidelines without losing any of their special sauce. They've made adjustments to their programs to allow for small pods, maximum time outdoors, and implemented new mask and cleaning protocols without in any way alarming the children. The level of thought, care and communication with parents has been top-notch, and we feel safe and comforted in these uncertain times.

We were a new 6th grade family joining the MDS community. It was great for our son to be entering the 6th grade at a new school with another dozen or so new children from outside schools. The summer buddy family program gave us an opportunity to meet other rising 6th graders and their families. We cannot thanks these parents enough for the warm welcome prior to the start of the school year. In the 6th grade the kids are given their own laptops to be used throughout Middle School. The 6th grade 4 day Outdoor Ed trip to Pinnacle National Park fell on our sons birthday. It was his first time away without any parent chaperones and he loved it. The school dealt with COVID-19 by following the science and took great precautions to ensure the safety of the children. In late March 2019 there was a 2 week teacher training then the kids were back in school via Zoom. We continued to use distance learning in the 7th grade until the winter break when he returned to the classroom. He is now in the 8th grade and we feel grateful to MDS for keeping our kids and community safe. The teachers, administrators and staff are 100% vaccinated as are the students age 12 and older. The kids ages 5-11 are now catching up to reach 100% vaccinated. The high level of education and life experiences our son is getting at MDS has exceeded our expectation. He has made new friends and is excited to be looking at the next chapter of his education, High School. We highly recommend this independent school.

Our daughter experienced immense linguistic and social growth when she started at SGCC and watching her develop loving relationships with her teachers and classmates has been a joy. The teachers are constantly demonstrating that they are invested in the students by remembering thoughtful details about their lives, relating funny stories from their day, or passing along observations. The program brings in outside enrichment activities, like a music teacher and local librarian, as well as fostering a safe place for open play, exploration, art, and games. I can't keep up with the amount of art my kid brings home! Overall, our family's experience with SGCC has been stellar, and I am thrilled to have another child entering into this supportive community.

The amount of love and effort the team of teachers at Little mountain bring on a daily basis is hard to put into words.  Our first child is currently in his second year at LMP, and his time there has had such a unique impact on him as a growing child. He has learned, changed, interacted and played every single day he attends. He comes home with new questions, awesome stories, and new lessons learned. One of the main things we have loved about little mountain is the play based curriculum. The team of teachers there have perfected this curriculum over years of teaching together. A few of the teachers have worked together in Marin for over 30 years at other area preschools before starting their own. They are experts at getting to know the nuances of each child, and helping them individually navigate their development both at school and at home. The teachers attend national child development/teaching conferences each year to stay current on research based teaching, which to me shows how dedicated they are to making sure the kids grow in a healthy way.   Another huge part of Little Mountain is the parent/family community. Together the teachers and parents foster this throughout the year with parent appreciation days, community work days in the school's amazing backyard, an annual fundraiser, and after school activities such as wheelie wednesdays. Pick up and drop off are always fun with lots of interaction between families and kiddos. Parent participation is encouraged and appreciated. Parents can stay as long as they want to and/or come read books, volunteer, or something like help cook a special meal. I can't recommend Little Mountain enough. Our second child will be attending the next two years. If you are looking for a great preschool with a small community feel, this is it.
