I The waitress did an impressive job taking care of everyone. With the cost of managing an establishment I'm sure it's difficult to stay above water. So one waitress makes sense. BUT even so, this place doesn't cut corners. Not only are the servings very generous the food is incredible. I couldn't believe it was vegan. The aesthetics of the restaurant is very whimsical and could be a great date spot. There were families, couples, girl dinners going on, it was a vibe!!. I suggest you try the pineapple rice it was so good. The mango colada was yummy. It was a 10 out of 10. The owner Jackie was so nice and humble. She put the icing on the cake!! Apparently there was a wait of 45 mins if we wanted a table, but no wait if we sat at the "bar." (1) I saw a couple open tables, so found that weird, but we said it's okay and obliged to sit at the bar. After that, it was a little bit weird as the waiter took like 10 mins to get to us. Apparently there was only one person covering the entire place. Anyhow, he spent a decent amount of time explaining every single special to us (which we declined all those offers as most seemed tempting if we added an extra surcharge to them). Also, we didn't get water served immediately, which was kinda weird. But once we asked, we finally got ourselves a bottle, which we had to serve ourselves... We decided to split two items: Zucchini Nuggets: Good idea, but maybe slightly poorly executed. The picture on the website isn't necessarily an accurate reflection. I say that because the zucchini wasn't really crispy in the inside. The breading easily separated and I realized the zucchini was just fried as is.... wasn't really grilled or crispy by any stretch. I was expecting a more crispier zucchini, but at least the fried breading & the marinara sauce were great Lettuce Wraps: I liked this more. In particular, the sweet chili cauliflower was my favorite compared to the mushroom couscous (which was actually good). Surprisingly, the lettuce wraps filled us up quite well, though maybe the side of french fries helped. All in all, it's not a super heavy dinner, which is great. I do wish the zucchini nuggets were better executed & the service was a bit more attentive. Maybe next time. _________________________________________________________________________ Notes: (1) The place is BYOB, so seeing "bar" seating is a bit funny to me.

They were selling margaritas outside at this event. Me and another dad just finished our margaritas and decided to walk into Pet Shop with our empty plastic cups to see if they could make any to go drinks. We were greeted by Jessie at the empty bar. I told him "hey we have these plastic cups....any chance we can purchase to go drinks for the event outside." He said no...which was fine. But then he reached across the bar and snatched the cups out of our hands stating he could not let us walk out with the empty cups we came in with. He could have asked us to hand him the cups instead of grabbing it from us like that. We were stunned for a minute that that actually happened. So after that happened I asked if I can use the restaurant's bathroom. Jessie seemed annoyed...looked at us up and down and replied "the bathroom are for paying customers only." We took it as judgement as if the other dad and I were some kind of peasants. We ended up purchasing 2 margaritas at the bar in order to use the restaurant's bathroom. The margaritas were good and priced good($10 each). The business was empty. Wasn't like he was busy. The bartender Jessie was acting like an a**hole. You shouldn't work in the hospitality business if you lack basic customer service skills.

Run by a mom & daughter duo, Amma & Nur-E are truly so down-to-earth, full of positivity, and their energy is luminous. Amma is genuinely passionate about her craft and unbelievably humble! We arrived 10 minutes before 8pm and were greeted by Nur-E who literally shook our hands and welcomed us with open arms. The restaurant seats ~18 people so you can imagine how intimate, curated, and deeply rooted in tradition this dinner felt. Amma is from Dhaka, Bangladesh and with every course that came out, Nur-E described it to us in her expert storytelling ways! Everything we had was incredible. The Mango Lassi is blended by hand for that perfect consistency and refreshing, lightly sweet, homemade taste! After 5 whole courses came out, Nour-E came out and told us we had 7 more to go! So definitely come hungry and know you will leave beyond satisfied. My favorites were the Lau Chingri (Shrimp & Bottle Gourd Squash), the Rohu Fish Fried, the Murgir (Chicken) Roast & Palao, Beef Curry (Gorur Gostho) and Khashir (Goat) Biryani. Basically everything we had!! Each dish was balanced in depth, richness, and heat. The meats & fish were so tender, the rices were unbelievably fragrant, and the sauces were aromatic and layered rather than just spicy. The Rohu Fish Fried is imported from Bangladesh and lightly coated in spices and pan-fried until golden brown. This was my first time having this fish and it won't be my last! The Murgir (Chicken) Roast & Palao will live rent free in my head for a long time. It's richly caramelized, light yet aromatic, and deliciously comforting. I can see why this is usually a celebratory dish and is the only dish that Amma will serve at every Dawat Dinner! This dish is so popular that you can now find the recipe on Food & Wine. Speaking of accomplishments, the Lau Chingri (Shrimp & Bottle Gourd Squash) was named one of The New York Times' Best Dishes of 2025. We were also so lucky that Amma made her Mishti Doi for dessert! It's a sweet yogurt that has a custard-like creaminess and was the perfect way to end the meal after all those incredible flavors. We were so grateful to get a special one in a traditional clay pot. Also, there's tons of food but the staff will package any leftovers for you to take with you! They've literally thought of everything to make this an exceptional experience. Nur-E closed our dinner saying "food is life's greatest connector" and I couldn't agree more! Amma is truly an inspiration for opening Korai Kitchen at 61 years old, becoming a James Beard Nominee at 67 and getting 3 Stars from New York Times, and now signing her first cook book deal at 69. This is definitely in my top 10 meals of 2026 and is one of the most memorable meals I've ever had. I can't recommend Korai Kitchen enough.
