it has good deco, but its very expensive and burger king and McDonalds are better and the food is alright.

Inhabitants told us: there are only two restaurants in Montrose. So we found the jumping kangoro. It look good, the waiters arefriendly. But the food looks much better than it tastes: flat, artificial, just not tasty. What a shame, the graet location with the great view to the sea promised better. read more

Although this restaurant looks good the menu is rather disappointing as is the food. We found the food tasteless, took a long time to come to the table and felt as though we we were on a conveyor belt, a night to just get as many bums on seats as possible. I have been to Roo's Leap many times over the years and really enjoyed it, but now it feels very crowded with the tables so close together and the amount and quality of meals are poor, and not value for money. A few words to sum up Roo's Leap. What happened to the place? Used to go years ago all the time and it was an excellent night out, the food was great and the menu was varied and original now it seems that the management has changed (not positive on this) and brought the place down a notch or two possibly cutting corners and subsequently effecting the atmosphere of the place. Fitting more tables in, slimming down the menu and changing the decor to try and modernise it. smells a bit like greed to me, I know its a business but part of the charm of the place was that it was quirky and original, Id certainly never been in any place like it now its not far off any of the authentic italian diners, who's founding fathers had a hot dog stand in New York City. etc etc etc. (The Australian version obviously :-)) Dont be put off going though, Im just harking back to the good old days when it first opened, it was all a bit of a novelty then! and Im sure it will continue to feed and entertain Montrosians for many a year! Check out the Hawaiian burger it was my favourite, as well as the potato skins..! read more

I disagree with all previous reviews. Roos leaps food quality was excellent. Each of the seven members of my family I brought all had completely different meals and all absolutely loved it. Now we're an Indian food loving family so stuff like this generally doesn't appeal to us. However the taste was unique and the service was excellent. When we where there it was absolutely packed, so we expected it to be slow, it wasn't, it was fast but not rushed and nothing was wrong. The only point I agree on is that it feel crowded, overly crowded. That's what you get when your one of the only restaurants in town, so you'd expect them to push the spacing to the limits. Honestly I should remove a star for the spacing but the food quality was so high that it deserves all 5. read more

Gone down hill. Not what it was and prices gone up.

The reason I only give this restaurant 2 stars: I was recently on vacation and passed through the area. One of the locals recommended this place (they said they had amazing burgers) but when we got there we waited ages to be seated. From what I could tell it wasn't even busy. I had the cheeseburger. It was good but I've definitely had better. The only thing that made the trip here worthwhile was our server. She was very friendly, tended to us in a moderate manner (meaning she didn't bother too much but was around when we needed her) and made us feel welcome, and her accent made it seem like an authentic experience. read more

Have been visiting Roo's Leap since the year it opened and feel that it has become very complacent through lack of local competition. The service was slow, mistakes were made with our order and on one occasion, we were brought the bill after the main course without even being offered the chance to order desserts or coffee. I did email them after a particularly poor evening and was assured that they had noted and would act on the comments, but the next time nothing had improved. The food is nice but would agree with other reviews that it does feel very cramped now. Very nice views across the links though and a great place for watching Nov 5th fireworks if you can book a window table! read more
