First off, PBI is a third class airport. So few amenities. The WiFi is terrible below the third floor, and one has to log in through Facebook, which is tortuous. The staff at Rooney is great. Their hamburger is not. One can't order it with any pink; has to be medium - I didn't ask why because what difference would it make. One of the worst burgers I've had. It needed some McDonald's sauce to enhance the flavor. The fries are good. The tomato slice, as in most places, tasted as if it was picked at the very beginning of its puberty. They have corned beef, turkey sandwiches. Short but decent list of beers and IPAs. Nothing terribly crafty, but it's not meant to be that kind of place. read more

I love pubs and one in an airport is even better. The service was great even though they were slammed and I loved their burger and onion rings. Great selection of drinks! I just think the booths should be updated a little because they weren't very comfy. The ambiance of the place? Eehhh not exactly a pub feel per say but that's hard to do in the middle of an airport. Rooney's is actually located inside Palm Beach international Airport. I don't know if the Rooney family personally takes pride in this establishment like they do to their football team, the Steelers. But, this is just a so so venue. In my 15 years coming to Southern Fla, I always hoped they would improve the quality of food, not the case. I ordered an Irish Grilled Cheese sandwich w/bacon. It tasted ok, but I could make a heftier sandwich at home for one quarter the price. And two minuscule slices of pickles. The Guinness Stout was excellent as always and Nancy, my 'bartender, knew how to pour it. In fact she was the only positive in this restaurant. You might say to yourself why frequent this place? This is the biggest P.O.S. I have ever visited!!!!!! STAY AWAYYYYY!!!! Every single person working here has two speeds...1. Slow and 2. I don't give a damn. We were ignored for a while. When we were "served" I asked for a Black and Blue. For you non beer drinkers, that is a blue moon layered with Guinness. I expected my "bartender" to be able navigate that. She stared back at me with a deer in the headlights look. I explained how to make the drink and guess what???? An Irish bar is out of Guinness. Did she offer to change the keg???? Bwahahaha....that would be a big no. So, we ordered 2 beers and 2 fish and chips. After never checking on us....with an empty glass for 20 minutes, we finally asked where our fish and chips were....it had been an hour!!!! Guess what we got to see again???? Have you ever had a meal that left the kind of taste in your mouth that made you stop somewhere afterwards to get something to change the taste? Yup - that was my experience. I took a table in the corner to get some work done while I was eating and a waitress who (I'm guessing) showed up early for her shift came in and sat behind me while finishing her long phone call. I really didn't have much time to kill but I received a tip that Goose Island IPA would be on tap at the time of my travels. I took a seat at the bar and tried to use this time to sip on my beer and catch up on my email. My battery was dying and quickly but luckily the bartender was able to hook me up (literally) into an outlet on her side of the bar. I thought I would need to move to a wall, but that was not needed to get my charge on. For my quick time at Rooney's I had a pretty decent experience. We stopped at Rooney's since it was on our way to the B gates & didn't want to eat at Burger King on the other side. Host took us to a table - over the next 10 minutes the host and the server (Stephanie) came by several times and said she would right with us. Well right with us dragged on with the taking of another order, delivering a bill, delivering food .... After Stephanie finally showed up to take our order we gave it quickly. Didn't see her again for 10 minutes. When we finally we asked for a refill on the ice tea. And then since almost 40 minutes have passed the bill so that we could get our departing flight. When the bill came it included and extra fee for the cheese to be on the side and $3.19 for each ice tea ( i guess no free refills). Stopped by here to get some food while my husband and I waited for our flight since it was delayed. We were seated quickly since it wasn't packed at all. Once we were seated our waitress greeted us but definitely didn't seem like she wanted to be there. I got a burger and my husband got a grilled cheese which were okay at best, nothing I couldn't make at home. *The main issue: Once we were back home and settled, our credit card company flagged activity in Florida after we had already left. This is the only place that we used our credit card in Florida and therefore it's more than likely that our credit card number was stolen at this establishment. This is the only restaurant at PBI that I could find. It's outside of security, so after I went through security and only found Burger King, I went back. The food was ok. I got the soup, salad, sandwich combo. For $12 a good amount of food. The soup, clam chowder, was pretty good. The salad was a house salad, with field greens but had pecans and bacon thrown on it, kind of weird instead of shredded carrots, cucumbers, onions, etc, but it was ok. The sandwich was filling and pretty good. The service was terrible. It was slow, inattentive and lack luster, like they had to be there instead of wanted to be. There was an older lady with blonde hair who tried to turn to ignore customers and had a scowl on her face the entire time I ate. She looked miserable. Gave customers short answers and needs to be fired. She was so grouchy she would make me not want to go back. I'm surprised that this place has been in the airport for so long. The service staff could be grandparents or great grandparents to all the customers. There is no urgency to their service and they trudge around the restaurant looking sullen. I had the pleasure of sitting "outside" at a table where I was front and center to watching and listening to a manager berate a staff member on a minor mistake that hardly warranted the stern talking down to. Wise words for the restaurant industry: council in private and praise in public. The manager seemed to not care at all about having this conversation no more than five feet from me - I was shocked. The food is also nothing to be desired as well as extremely overpriced. Just awful. The service was terrible. We had to go find out waitress to place our order. Food came out quickly, but it was not good. Burgers were dry and tasteless. The Celtic cheese appetizer was a joke for $11. Bread was awful. Then we had to go to the bar to get our check. It wasn't correct and they couldn't even tell me what the extra charge was for. I've been here a couple of times and it has always been good, well above the average airport food. We went yesterday (3/21) and was really disappointed. We both had burgers, we were told the only choice was "medium well". I paid the extra $1..25 to have swiss cheese. The food came after a long wait overcooked and lukewarm.
