This is perhaps the most beautiful store anywhere in the Santa Barbara area. The curated selection of the cutest fabrics, incredible hard goods and furnishings, and a knowledgeable, professional, friendly staff and ownership...this is THE place for furniture needs or accent pieces/pillows and even cute gifts. I have to say I am so excited to find the website for this store. I moved to Iowa from California and this was one of my favorite stores. The embellishments are so unique and the sofas feel like your surrounded in a cloud of puffy goodness. There is no better than this store. The quality is amazing and whatever you buy it will last. In addition to great products the service is beyond what is normal. The associates helped me find the perfect piece to match my house. I am so excited to bring more unique pieces home even if it is by buying it online. Away with shopping I go. Don't miss this gem of a store or order online. You won't regret any purchase. I love this store primarily for the scented candles and diffusers. I was walking by a few months ago and they had some candles burning outside on a little end table. The fragrance was so amazing that I nearly transformed into Toucan Sam and followed my nose into the store to the exact shelf where they were stored. I purchased a candle and diffuser for the house and a candle for my office by NEST in Bamboo. The diffuser has lasted over six months and still has about half of the oil in it. The candles go quickly but I burn them often. They are expensive, but worth it if you're a self proclaimed aroma-addict like me. Seriously, the fragrance is very relaxing and therapeutic. The women in the store have always been quite friendly. Polite, without hovering. I never felt as though I was not welcome. The decor inside the store is beautiful and reminds me of the fabrics and design I have in my own home. I look forward to checking out more of the tapestries that they sell. In the meantime, I'll continue to shop Rooms & Gardens, to get my home fragrance fix! read more

Absolutely love the decor and beautiful items in the store. So much so, that the interior design of my own home looks like the store. I have bought many, many items there. The problem is the customer service. The owners (Eric and Jami Voulgaris), who often work in the store NEVER greet you or make you feel welcome in their store. It's a shame--no I have never bought a couch, bed or large ticket item but as a repeat customer since 1993, I never as much, get a hello. It's a shame. Also the store almost never has a sale except for a few piddly Christmas items in late December. I love the store and am sad the Summerland location closed (Auburn was very nice there)...so be friendly, your customers will appreciate it! read more

Hmmm...we have been in the store twice looking for sofas. Yesterday we were in Celadon, Restoration hardware and Rooms & Gardens. Celedon wins hands down for great knowledgeable service. The sales woman not only gave me all of the specs of the sofas of interest but told me where they were made, the guarantees, options for coverings. The sofas were down filled and fair pricing. Rooms & Gardens? The exact opposite. All she could tell me was that the sofas were made in the USA and the style was "Bristol". She would not tell me where they were made in the USA. Twice as expensive as Celedon and I know nothing about them. The sales people were nice enough but not informative. read more

Rooms & Gardens is one of my favorite destination stores. I discovered the store on a trip to Santa Barbara, and now I plan trips to Santa Barbara with friends that center around visiting the store. Brunch and then an afternoon at Rooms & Gardens? Yes please!!! The only thing better would be brunch IN Rooms & Gardens! The store is so beautiful and never fails to inspire. I love the coastal décor -- the blue and white prettiness right now is delightful! -- but everything there would blend with any décor. I never escape without a must-have! This store is my absolute favorite stop in Santa Barbara! The mix of custom furniture paired with vintage gems, is really beautifully done. The whole store has a relaxed coastal feel and the staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. I picked up a few of their blue and white planters and a unique throw pillow for my living room - they had a great selection. Honestly, I can linger in this store for hours, just taking it all in. Rooms & Gardens perfectly capture the style of Santa Barbara with their well-curated selection of furniture. Sometimes you'll even find a floor sample on sale. While I agree the owners aren't super friendly, if you engage with them they are more then helpful. My guess is that a lot of tourists come through who aren't really potential buyers so they let people browse without getting in the way. Make sure and check out the chickens in their cute coop in the back. read more

I love this beautiful shop. I found myself looking around for what seemed to be hours at all their beautiful furniture. I have never written a bad review before, however, we have mulled this situation over so many times and feel there is a real opportunity here for the owners regarding customer loyalty. We recently moved to Santa Barbara and came into the store and spoke directly with the owner, Eric, regarding the idea of leasingfurniture for a year. Eric told us that it was something they could do, because of a huge "lot" of furniture that he had purchased from a store going through a liquidation in England, so he had a lot of inventory to choose from- he specified that they were primarily wood pieces. As long time fans of Rooms and Garden's decor..needless to say- we were thrilled. Long story short, we gave Eric our budget of $24,000.00 for a one year lease, and circled back with him on a couple of occasions via phone, email and in person reiterating our budget and needs. As we did a "walk through" in the store, we picked out the items we wanted...and again mentioned our budget. After three weeks of being strung along by Eric- he finalized the proposal with a total cost of $33,000.00 worth of PURCHASED furniture!! WHAT??? He simply wanted to turn our request of renting, into a sale in the end. After we received the emailed proposal, we called Eric and questioned the price and how this appealed to 1) our budget, and 2) leasing the furniture and NOT buying!!?? Eric explained that he "MISUNDERSTOOD..." WHAT?????? I mean how could he possibly think that would fly....!! He then mentioned the "WOODEN" furniture idea again, (mind you, because we are new to town, we were very gracious in accepting his "misunderstanding" excuse initially, and really were quite embarassed for him. He said that he would put a second proposal together, (AGAIN) based on our initial interest in leasing, and would focus on, specifically the WOODEN pieces (AGAIN) and get back to us later that day. Eric called us the next morning and said that he was not in the business of leasing furniture unless it is for "staging." Welllllllll, had he been an honest and effective communicator/business owner- NONE of this would've happened and we would not have left 6 days before our move in to find furniture. By the way...which we have purchased all through Domino.com, One Kings Lane, Joss and Main, and Ruby Lane.com. Very disappointing, and thought others might be interested in our experience.
