We hired Home Plus to do a complete roof replacement - we paid them $40,000 for a new roof and I've been trying for months to get them to finish the job. They basically took old facials and soffits , bent them and shoved them under the gutter. I've spent 2 months calling and texting our sales rep, the Home Plus office, and have been told 5 times 'someone will be out this week, or tomorrow , etc to complete the job.' No one shows up and now they don't answer the phone. The roof job was a complete mess-every day workers were there I had to call the project manager (who surprisingly no longer works there), the sales rep and the office and ask them to please clean up the thousands of nails and debris all over the outside of the house. Completely unprofessional and unresponsive. We are now forced to hire an attorney to resolve this matter -it's been a total nightmare. Highly recommend NOT USING HOME PLUS ROOFING-they are scammers ! STAY AWAY from Roofing by Home Plus! What started initially like a pleasant experience, turned very sour at the end for us. The sales rep, Pavel Malyk, presented a contract for a reasonable price. Unfortunately our insurance estimate was significantly revised and no one even bothered to revisit or update the initial contract with us. After we paid the "final" invoice payment, we were surprised to receive multiple new invoices without clarification or an updated contract. In the end, the roof replacement for our home cost more than $3,457 of what was indicated on our contract. My wife and I are retired and on fixed income and instead of taking the time to explain the billing discrepancy, we started to get threatening phone calls that the outstanding balance would be sent to collections. This caused my wife and I unnecessary stress and frustration. The accounting department was an absolute mess. No one had answers for us, despite multiple email requests. Brenda Calcara, an accountant, was finally able to provide an explanation to us after we called and informed her that we would be posting a review of our experience with Roofing by Home Plus. What a shame! What's more, the workmanship of our roof replacement was poor. The crew was fast and sloppy. I requested for them to come back and re-do several poorly installed gutter sections. They ran out of supplies and despite the re-done work, I still had to resecure certain sections by myself due to the crew's competence. BEWARE and THINK TWICE before you sign a contract with Roofing by Home Plus. The sales rep, Pavel Malyk, presented one contract amount, but after the insurance estimate was revised, they failed to update the contract and I was in for a very rude surprise at the end. What's more, the billing and accounting department was a total disaster. After making the final invoice payment (or so I thought), I received a statement indicating that the invoice was paid in full. A few months later, without any explanations or clarifications, I was surprised to receive a new invoice with a higher ending balance amount than what was indicated on the contract. The most concerning issue was that after the "new" final balance was recalculated, a payment of more than $6,500 was not even accounted for in the new billing records! I was so grateful that I had a copy of the receipt saved. In the end, the roof replacement for my property costs nearly $1,000 more than what was indicated on the contract. After my insurance had revised the initial estimate, no representative from Roofing by Home Plus even bothered to review or update the contract indicating the new difference. I had sent multiple emails requesting an explanation regarding the contract and final invoice discrepancy. I didn't get an answer until I called and informed the accounting department that I would be posting a public review of my experience. Accountant Brenda Calcara finally scrambled and investigated the situation. The staff at this company are VERY sloppy and careless, not just in the billing department but also following-up on outstanding issues. After the roof was replaced, I had left over roofing supplies sitting on my driveway for months. It took multiple calls and reminders to get it all picked up. On top of that, I had roofing nails left all around the premises of the property that the crew didn't even bother to clean up after themselves. If I had an opportunity to restart the roofing replacement process for my property, I would absolutely NOT choose Roofing by Home Plus and I will highly recommend for anyone to do the same. Our roof was replaced by Home Plus after Hurricane Ian. The initial inspection failed, they fixed it and then put the roof on. Our roof failed inspection again. We have called and they came out took pictures and documented what was wrong with the roof. We thought great, it will get fixed now and we haven't heard from anyone even though we call at least twice a week. I am disappointed with the quality of the work and lack of response to our calls - we need our roof to pass inspection and now we have to hire someone else to come in and fix their failures. On top of that they have emailed me their invoice twice and I promptly respond I will not pay until my roof is fixed. All of the other roofing companies I heard back from were all just just storm hunting and hiked up their pricing so much! Instead of supporting the community and local families after a catastrophic hurricane hit our area, Roofing by Homeplus is threatening to sue local families. Did they buy any supplies yet? NO! Did they do any work on our property? NO! Our family like many others suffered a great loss from hurricane Ian. While many local families are struggling to stay afloat, this company is trying to take advantage! Less than a week after hurricane hit they came out and they lied about the contract we signed and never followed up with the proper contract. We felt pressured and mislead during the process and made it known to the sales agent and owner. They were never willing to give a price for their services and we were told an updated contract would be provided and would include more details. After telling our sales agent we did not feel comfortable with the contract, the owner reached out and defended the way they "work" with insurance companies. What they really do is force people to sign direct pay authorizations and lead them to believe this is the only way. The conversation with the owner made us even more uncomfortable and we sent an email to Gary the sales agent saying once again we were uncomfortable with a direct to pay. His response was, " If you are uncomfortable with direct pay let me speak with our GM. It might be revocable ". We assumed this is what he was going to do and for almost 15 weeks we heard nothing from them. This was such a relief. Then we received a phone call from a woman threatening to sue us if we weren't going to use their company. They want money when they haven't bought any supplies or done any work. They will harass you with rude phone calls and letters and demand you give them money for doing NOTHING! We have asked kindly to move on from this company as we have felt uncomfortable with them from the first stressful week after hurricane Ian. Their response has been to demand we pay them money for doing NOTHING! Do not fall victim to this company and do not let them take advantage of you! read more

I have never written a negative review before. I pride myself on remaining positive. This company literally has driven me into a place of anxiety and stress beyond words. During Hurricane Irma, State of Emergency, I was alone and frightened. My roof, pool cage, so many things gone. The Roofing by Homeplus salesman Mike came, offered me a metal roof with a 50 year guarantee. Price $27,300. Total house including flat lanai , all metal! Miami Dade approved! $8,000 deposit/contract signed.Hey, after the hurricane, I was willing to do anything that would help stabilize my home. I asked to see samples of the metal. He didn't have a sample of the metal, but he was going to bring it. But he didn't. He was going to send pictures. But he didn't. He was going to email addresses, I could drive by, but he didn't. No one called to tell me the job had begun. I awoke to the sounds of banging on my roof and checked my security cameras. I got dressed, approached the man pulling in the drive with a dumpster. I told the truck driver Hector, I hadn't even seen the roofing material. He was nice and suggested he would go back to the shop.Later Jay showed up. He had one sample and said this is what he selected for my house. Mike had emailed weeks earlier to advise me he had selected a very good middle of the road metal, and if I wanted the best, it was $ 40,000. So, I told Jay I wanted to see the warranty. He said " I give you my word". So here I am, spending $ 27,300 and I'm supposed to take the "word" of a man I have never seen . I said I didn't want the roof and he advised I would lose my $8,000 deposit. I agreed in order to not lose $8,000. I believe the workers were hired by the "piece" because they worked fast and into the dark. Most days an entirely different crew showed up.. I reached out to a consultant and sent pictures. He actually pointed out huge mistakes with the installation to the company, advised them to correct the installation issues. Long story short. The roof has a 25 year warranty. The underlayment was Owens Corning Mat Moisture Barrier , NOT recommended for metal roofing . It is recommended by Owens Corning for application for shingles, and the flat lanai has rolled roofing, NOT metal. NOT MIAMI DADE APPROVED! So I have what I consider to be a total mess. A 25 year warranty of metal that is placed over a 5 year underlayment warranty. Since I explained I had originally gotten a bid from another company and the ONLY reason I chose them was to have all metal NO rolled roofing, they agreed to drop the price to match the other company price. The reduction I think was $4,400. They then invoiced me for an additional $ 288 for 9 sheets of plywood and $540 for labor.. Thankfully my security cameras show the plywood being delivered with the dumpster and the cameras show the 9 sheets of plywood being taken way . They then charged me for lumber, which was specifically written in to be included in the contract. They ultimately credited the lumber. I 'm embarrassed to say I'm an educated person with post graduate education, former employee of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a U.S. Congressional assistant. But, he trick with the contract, you don't get to see the warranties until you pay in full. If you need a roof and you are on waiting lists for repairs, your in a jam! As a female and I was totally disrespected when I pointed out the underlayment concerns. I was ignored. If you hire this company, it is my opinion, that you hire an attorney first, because that's the next step for me. I have never experienced this magnitude of fraud, deceit and discrimination with any project for my home. $ 22,900 total for a metal roof I never even saw a sample of until installation and dark stains are oozing under the meal onto my fascia as I write. The reduction in price doesn't remove the fact that the 25 year roof is over underlayment with a 5 yea warranty and does not meet Miami Dade code. .Independent roof companies have physically inspected my home, roofing specialist from the Metal Roofing Alliance have reviewed the facts. I have communicated with Miami Dade, national roofing companies and local roofing companies. My roof should be torn off and a new roof should be installed. Tim came to my home before the inspection was complete, demanding final payment. I felt intimidated. Peggy the office manager called. Left voice mail that she was coming to collect. Final inspection hadn't been completed. The roof had failed inspection earlier. I stand by the fact that the company is working some of the employees by the "piece" and not paying them wages hourly or overtime and it is my belief the reason they worked into dark, didn't take breaks, didn't slow down. I admit, the workers worked hard and it broke my heart. Sadly I tried to communicate my concerns but they failed to understand me. I couldn't understand them. Only have one star bc they require it. Messiest roofing company I have ever seen and I work in construction. Had to get a tetanus shot from stepping on a nail in my patio because they literally blow all the stuff off the roof into property. Neighbor has a flat tire. My door was being slammed on at 7am asking if I could move my car.... notice prior to that morning would of been nice. The ones who do speak English and don't just ignore you are arrogant. We went with Roofing by Homeplus Inc., as they gave us a great price and were very professional from start to finish. Every visit was on time and the guys worked until dark every day they were here. Before they left at the end of the day they cleaned up all around the house, no nails all over the ground or in the driveway! My brother-in-law had a roof done by another company at the same time and still is finding nails all around his house. They added more ridge vents on the roof and gave us a very good price for a solar attic fan that makes a huge difference on the heat in our attic. It has made our house cooler in the middle of the hot summer day. I was home when the inspector came to check on the work and I asked him how did they do up there. He said they did a good job and has never had a problem with any of the jobs that he inspected for them before. He said there is some companies out there that he has to watch. Final inspection passed without any problems. I waited to post this until we got our wind mitigation inspection and he crawled all through our attic and went on the roof, he said they did a great job screwing everything and bringing our roof up to today's code! I was so happy to hear this as you never know who you are hiring for a job and are relying on them to do the best work. With all this said I would recommend them to do your roofing needs without a doubt. read more
