Tonight's temperature was minus 5 degrees. Jimmy North and his Team at AirFlow Systems in Charlottesville, VA installed an entire new system in my home in February 2017. Not only has my electric bill dropped by almost half, the comfort of our home is unbelievably consistent year round. He had NO PRESSURE sales and does NOT RIP you off or over charge. His prices for the EXACT same system was several thousand dollars less expensive than TWO other competitors in the area. Once completed there were no up sale tactics. I love my new Trane AC/Heat Pump, Trane LP Gas furnace system. It barely runs and keeps the home toasty. Thank you Air Flow Systems for getting it right. Also, prior to this new Trane system, AirFlow Systems has been regularly maintaining my old system. When it needed parts he did not mark them up. When I asked why Jimmy said he didn't believe. I doubled checked the relay they replaced one time and a capacitor another time and I could NOT find it anywhere on the Internet cheaper for the EXACT same parts. An OVERTIME visit was QUICK and $25 more than their normal hourly rate. When the old system went down, I asked for an estimate to replace and upgrade the entire system...and well you've read the rest of the story. Always call Jimmy North and his Team at AirFlow Systems in Charlottesville, Virginia. You will NOT regret it.

We were long-time (28 years) customers of Airflow, who installed four separate systems (counting…read morereplacements) at our two houses. They were great to work with and we never had reason to suspect their business practices in the past. Something has changed, though, and now we wonder how a small equipment replacement could possibly come in over 200% higher than the cost for the same installation seven years ago. We understand inflation has increased cost as well as supply chain issues, and we support and hope employees are receiving competitive wages, however, inflation over the course of the past 7 years amounts to about 31% , not 200%. The bill we received was priced as one lump sum and when we requested an itemized breakdown of labor and material, we were told the bill was itemized. This review is not about the quality of Airflow's work, which remains high, but rather their business practices. To avoid misunderstandings, even if you've worked with them for many years, it's best to request a full and complete estimate of their services before they begin work.

Bryce showed up early and quickly solved my problem, fixed another issue that had languished, and reviewed our entire system. He made several suggestions that made sense and was able to do everything that afternoon. When I mentioned our AC was ready for its annual checkup, Bryce arranged for a plumber to come out that afternoon. Both technicians were thorough and clearly explained everything. Because ours is a second home and it's difficult when we use it to find good services in a timely fashion, we signed up for Jones' Preferred Partner Plan, which includes two yearly inspections and other benefits. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

When my AC went out again with the same issue (blowing, no cold air), they said I needed a whole new unit. Again, it was quick, on time, but very expensive. When my heat went out WITH THE SAME ISSUE (blowing, no warm heat), they said I would need to replace my furnace. I knew that was not true because I had heat upstairs. I will leave it to you to decide whether you think they are incompetent or they ripped me off... or both. I would never use them again nor would I recommend them. They are not trustworthy. I can't have people IN YOUR HOUSE who are not trustworthy. And I can't do business with people who think that I am too stupid to ask questions. It's now 6 months later and the same issue is happening again. The new HVAC company is telling me that the new unit is fried because it was incorrectly wired. The new outdoor unit that they installed is incompatible with the indoor unit so the computer can't speak with the other one. It's also too big for my duct work, so it can't work and has to be replaced.

My parents are elderly and increasingly I am becoming entwined within the rote daily elements of…read moretheir lives. Healthcare, finances and keeping the home in good functioning condition. I needed a plumber. "Thumbtack", "Angies List": Why not look at Yelp? So I type, "Yelp/Charlottesville/Plumber". Result = "Best Plumbers in Charlottesville"! Laco is the first entry on that Yelp list. Which made me suspicious. Five Star Rating after thirteen reviews? That's too good to be true. But I plow into the reviews. They don't seem like they were posted by Laco employees pretending to be plumbing consumers with above averages experiences. They read as deft and genuine from an array of people. I added the contact info. of Laco and two other plumbers into my phone and resolve to make some calls. Laco was the first and only plumber to return my call (although I continue to receive messages from local plumbers via Tumbtack two weeks later). Tony, who if I've gleamed this correctly is an owner of the business and one of two guys you will talk to over the phone, the guy who will come out to the site and look things over for the benefit of you both and then give you an idea of how much this project will cost and how much of your life will be inconvenienced therein. He's a bit of a character, stout looking, a little harried as any good contractor would be having many irons in the fire and many things and people to keep track of. Polite and clear and let me emphasize that, articulate in what you need and what will happen. I did not once with Tony or any of his men get the impression that they wanted to do any more work than absolutely necessary. They acted as if they wanted to get in and out ASAP, do the job right and move on, pretty much the perfect scenario if you are in need of a plumber and money/finances are of some concern. Allow me to throw this one aside in real quick before I forget. The job came in under estimate and they did everything that Tony had said they'd end up doing if they didn't run into any other issues that needs addressing. The scene: My parents 50-60 year old brick rancher near downtown. Two 80+yrolds and their middle aged kid. One Middle aged plumber (Bobby) and the "Kid" who was the other man working the job and Tony. The three plumbers show up, Tony gives the guys a quick run-down of the issues and what he expects to be done, salutes us all and rides off to address some other issue somewhere else. For three to four hours these two men wind their way in and out of the house, through each entry, from the basement worksite to the attic to secure a drain vent and keeping it from sliding down through the home and killing someone below (heavy large copper pipes...). They brought a radio to listen to Christmas music, quietly while working. Upstairs the old folks milled about watching television, having lunch. It was a pleasant late morning that stretched until just afternoon. There was the pulling of toilets (2) there were reciprocating saws sawing, there was grunting and ladders and the smell of adhesives. In the end, they walked me through their work, cleaned up after themselves and left. Later in the afternoon, I got and invoice via e-mail then called and paid over the phone. Everything went swimmingly and didn't cost as much as I expected, didn't take as long as I thought and it didn't stress my family out. Really man, that ****ing awesome. Five stars.
