As You drive through the pretty Surrey village on Pyrford, (near West Byfleet)you would drive…read morestraight past Aspen Flooring shop without giving it a second glance. Even when you know of the shop's existence as you approach it there is nothing inviting about it. Even as you enter it is small and a tad bit chaotic. However the good news is the service. They are prepared to spend time with you looking at various samples and giving sound advise without any pressurised selling. For a small shop there a very good choice concentrating on British manufactures. You are allowed to take some free samples home with you which is necessary as the lighting in the shop is atrocious. My main criticism is they should spend some money on brighter lighting perhaps with halogen bulbs so one gets a truer picture of the colours. My advise would be to change to better lighting as soon as possible. The director was prepared to offer a small discount and said he or his partner could do the fitting himself without getting in an outside contractor. From my past experience an outside contractor can be a nightmare with shoddy workmanship and very little comeback. The order was taken and the carpet fitted within 4 weeks and we were fully satisfied with all aspects. We can recommend Aspen Flooring who are a small independent company rather than using one of the multi nationals. Making a comparison between the two the price difference was negligible but you do get personal service and a good job done. We had no complaints watchsoever.

Aspen Flooring is a bit of a hidden gem in the village of Pyrford. It is a family run business…read moregiving personal service. Unless you knew it existed it is not place you would easily find and then it would not be difficult to drive past. The shop frontage does not have a "Wow" factor that would make you stop and look, in fact it quite uninspiring. Once inside there as a lack of heating but the warm and friendly service made up for this fact. There are loads of books of sample which are available for you to take away a couple so you can look at the colours in a true light in the comfort of your own home. A necessity as the lighting in the shop is not the best in the world. All this in some ways is irrelevant as the product, price and service are the important issues. Aspen Flooring comes out well on all these points. There may be a delay to laying the carpet if you want one of the directors to do this for you rather than an outside contractor. We would recommend you take this option as you have a direct comeback if a problem Last time we had an outside contractor lay a carpet it was a disaster and took ages to sort out. Free off street parking is available in the lay by opposite or you can get the hourly 437 bus which stops nearby.

FRAUD Warning!!!!!!!!!…read more We used Andy from Techflooring back before Christmas to fit some carpets supplied by Carpetright and he carried out the work as planned and did a good job. We found him through Ratedpeople.com. However, I have since asked Andy to come back and quote for the supply and fitting of new carpets. Andy quoted what I considered a reasonable sum for the carpets and fitting and he requested payment up front for the carpets, which I felt was reasonable. Having made the upfront payment and agreed a date for the fitting on the 18th March we are still waiting.......................... Every time Andy is due to come and fit them, we get excuses an hour before about oil on carpets, broken vans, hospital visits due to injury at work, broken phones.....the list goes on....but we still have no carpets. He and his partner and company director Claire Louise Gilbey have promised to refund the money, but here we are 3 weeks on and still no money..... Upon further investigation, Andy appears twice on the bankruptcy register, hence his wife being the new company Director. Andy now tells me that Techflooring.Co Ltd is going into voluntary insolvency...he has offered to pay me back in weekly installments, but I have yet to see any money or even remorse from him or his wife Claire Lousie Gilbey for stealing my money. The Government Insolvency agency and Companies House has no record of Techflooring.Co ltd going in to Insolvency at this time, voluntarily or otherwise, so I can only assume that this is another lie to try and avoid returning my money to me. Please note, they are also not currently members of the NICF as claimed on their website, they did not renew their membership due to non-payment in May 2015. I would urge you to steer clear of Andy and Claire and to never part with your money in advance of them doing any work for you. I am out of pocket to the tune of nearly £700, so have reported this company, it's owners and agents to Action Fraud, Companies House, Trading Standards and the police for fraud. It appears from other reviews I have since read, that this is an all too common story with Andy, Claire and Techflooring.Co....this appears to be what they do.....

My husband and I received a quote from Andy at TechFlooring 10 days ago. We suspected something…read moremay not be right when we received a company invoice asking for payment to his personal bank account, almost immediately after he left our house. He was then straight on the phone to us, being extremely pushy about getting paid the same day (funds required to place carpet order). Something didn't sit right, so we consequently did a bit of Google research, however on paper this company checks out - registered company, logos, reviews from rated people etc. Under pressure with deadlines (we are about to rent the house out before moving overseas) we were out of other options. Andy seemed like a genuine bloke in person and he assured us he could do the job within the timescale required. After receiving payment, the excuses started; faulty carpet, no carpet, rouge lorries carrying the carpet... Having missed our deadline a number of times, we decided to cancel and request a refund. The excuses the continued; bank couldn't transfer his money that day, he needed longer, the Company Director (his wife btw!) needed to authorise... Andy has a complete lack of integrity, he will 'promise' and 'guarantee' anything to get you to hand over money. My guess is he saw an opportunity within our situation to try and delay the job until we left the country, allowing him to keep our money. Despite my naivety in handing a deposit to a total stranger when I knew that something wasn't quite right, we were lucky and we got our money back. However, this is only because my husband forcibly chased the company with formal written warnings and the threat of reporting them to fraud agencies. Even then, it was the Director (the wife) who made a payment from the company account, rather than a returned payment from Andy's personal account. I never write reviews, however in this case I felt compelled to do so. I think if we hadn't been leaving the country, then things may have worked out entirely differently. That said, my personal opinion is that if Andy sees an opportunity, he is the kind of tradesman who would always try and take advantage.
