I found children's books as much as £3 cheaper there so it's always worth a look. They often have special offers or good reductions in their sales so it's lways busy in there. The location isn't great as with the new Eden shopping centre open the Chiltern Centre has lost a lot of it's shops and the place feels a bit empty now. Hopefully they fill some of the empty stores and it will continue to fare better.

I pointed this out to the store supervisor but she wasn't interested in that. She just kept saying well you have had it a year. Needless to say I did not get a refund but then knowing how they deal with returns I was not expecting one. Whilst I am on the subject I find the staff on the concession counters abysmal, they might a well have a do not disturb sign around their neck.

The shop sells all sorts of items, including kids toys, cushions, stationery, homewares, candles, food supplies, sweets and crisps, music and decorative items. These are all priced at either £1 in the majority of cases, sometimes stretching to £2, £5 or 2 for £1, which considering the items available is impressive. The store is quite open and clean, and the music is very dated, presumably to keep the costs of having to pay royalties or pay for music down, but the atmosphere is pleasant and friendly. You can quite easily browse in here for quite a while, although sometimes the queues can get a bit long and tend to wind into the main area of the shop. The staff are helpful and friendly, and will wrap fragile items in paper before packing them for you, which is always a good sign.

They have quite a good selection of household products such as duvet covers and kitchen appliances, mostly priced at a reasonable level. There is a cafe in store although i have never ventured in, but it does serve ben and jerrysyum! Dry cleaning gets sent away from this store, so good if you don't mind waiting for a week for it to return! Petrol is always competively priced here to! And don't forget your nectar card, as they never ever ask you for it!

We were there to replace a faulty table and was serviced by Susan who I think was the manager. All very friendly and looked after us without any fuss. She insisted on checking the new goods before we went away. Certainly would recommend them for their service. A lot of goods are competitively priced, and even though some may be made in China and not of the highest quality, their no quibble return gives you peace of mind to shop there.

The store is a block away from Reading Station and it has everything you would expect in a widely discounted variety, from cookies and biscuits, cans of soda, stuff for your car, dishes and cups, silverware, kitchen appliances, office supplies, even over-the-counter medicines like cold and flu stuff. Way too much to list here. You do have to be aware of the prices. I've seen some items that were £1 at Poundland for less than that at Asda or Tesco, but the opposite is true too: there are some great bargains to be had. The aisles are rather narrow - too narrow for trolleys - but they have a big stack of carry baskets. Shoppers seem friendly enough to step aside so you can pass. The lines can tend to be long and it blocks one of the aisles. Maybe it's not so busy the rest of the year, but lots of people are looking for Christmas bargains now. And yes, it's exactly a pound. The price includes tax (they call it VAT over here).
