We had to wait over an hour for a table for 2! So wondered down the lane and came across Humber Bar. What a great find. The multi level bar had a great relaxed vibe. It had a mixed crowd they were mostly young but to be expected on a Friday night. We were shown to the rooftop bar, as they were at capacity downstairs. It's not a tall building and you are dwarfed by other buildings but there are no windows looking down at you and it was a comfortable spot. Ordering is done through your phone at the table. Simply scan the code, pick what you want, paid through Apple pay and drinks arrived in minutes. Since we were hungry and had about 90 minutes to wait (9pm dinner) we ordered some fried cauliflower (good) and hand cut chips (bad/soggy and greasy). The cocktails were average and i would have been better off going for a beer or 3.. Overall a great venue but could use a bit more attention to detail in their food and cocktails. The service was friendly and i could have happily stayed for hours but had to move on to dinner. A summers evening would be brilliant on the rooftop bar.

Had the coffee smoothie, was also disgusting. On the bright side they play decent music and the atmosphere is nice. So one star for the atmosphere and another for the Villian fries, which could have used more sauce or layer of cheese so you're not left with plain soggy fries at the bottom. Summary: Coffee smoothie a letdown, cheeseburger a grainy, flavorless letdown. Wouldn't come back. Wouldn't recommend it.

I have to say, Yelp and I have had a pretty good relationship over the last year. I have come to…read morefeel I can trust Yelp's opinion on most things. So when I found myself on an impromptu trip to The Gong, of course I asked Yelp where to eat. His Boy Elroy? Looks good. Good reviews, good photos. Good menu. But I suspect I have discovered what I'm going to call the Small Town Positivity Bias. As in there is so little choice, any ol' thing can seem good. Everything about this place pointed to a great find. Obviously we got a big plate of Chilli Cheese Fries and Buffalo Wings and some beers. If I had to put it in words, it's like those people you meet who have read about humour in a book but never seen it done and attempt it anyway. It's not wrong, but it definitely ain't right. The fries had no actual chilli on them. As in beef chilli, pork chilli, whatever chilli you like as long as it is slow cooked and meaty. What they had was some kind of Louisiana Hot Sauce which they swore was Franks but like no Franks I had ever tasted, mayonnaise and melted cheese. It was like a French Canadian's attempt at Chilli Cheese Fries. It was this same pseudo-Franks that they used on the Hot Wings, the sauce and NOTHING ELSE. No butter, no cayenne, no paprika, no garlic powder, no vinegar, no Worcestershire sauce, no good. I really wanted to like this place but by the end of the meal Bill was dragging me out as I attempted to find the chef to share my own Buffalo Wing recipe with him. Bill hates a scene. If you are in the Gong you'll probably end up here. There is not that much to choose from. Stick to the things that are hard to stuff up like hotdogs and burgers.

We started with delicious and reasonably priced cocktail. We recommend the metre or half a metre pizza; just perfect for our family. The pasta was very authentic and we loved the carbonara. We also really enjoyed the gnocchi. Lovely flavours. A little different to what we expected. Not a pineapple in sight. We'll be back.

Gluten Alert ! Items labelled Gluten Free in menu may not be Gluten Free…read more I have dined at North Beach Pavillion three times with the family - each time I have gone out of my way to request Gluten Free dishes from the menu (asking staff verbally for the gluten free options and then choosing only from items labelled Gluten Free on their printed menu - every time I have ended up having the GF Penne). While the food has been delicious to eat, each time I have been glutened with a noticeable inflammatory reaction shortly after eating there. On our latest visit today I asked 1) at the counter upon booking for only gluten free menu items 2) double checked with the waitress that I was ordering the Penne labelled GF in the menu and that it was in fact GF and 3) Queried another waitress upon finding small pieces of a white soft buttery tasting ingredient (looked like gnocchi) amongst the pasta each about the size of a five cent piece. I was assured it was just garlic so just ate it up. Shortly after leaving the restaurant the gluten response kicked in so I phoned them and spoke to the chef Dominic who apologised and told me that they should boil the pasta separately but they were busy and maybe it was pieces of gnocchi from another dish in amongst the pasta. He said that the gnocchi is potato based but it also includes WHEAT FLOUR ! This is a really nice restaurant otherwise I wouldn't have persevered but they are clearly negligent if they are so casual about misrepresenting their food as gluten free if in fact they don't have even basic processes in place to ensure that it is actually free from gluten - especially when a person requiring special dietary needs has gone out of their way to make them aware of this beforehand.
