I especially loved the sensory toy shelves. Price points were about what I expected. Some smaller items for $3-$6, like mystery squishes and sensory toys. A lot of what we looked at was closer to the $8-$15 range, but there is plenty of $20+ items, with some large pieces that were more like $50. So I think you can find something for most budgets, albeit small things on the lower end. The staff we spoke to were efficient and friendly, and check out was a breeze! They do gift wrap at the counter, too, which is fantastic for buying gifts! I'm not sure if that's complimentary or not, though. Also nice for littles and grown ups of--there's a public bathroom with a changing table in case you need it! We easily spent half an hour exploring and walked out with two small toys for less than $10. Happy to support this local shop! It's well worth a visit next time you're on Mass Ave.

This is such a sweet spot! Our son explodes with joy whenever we come in here. There's a wall of…read morerealistic-looking trucks and construction vehicles that just light him up. They have a lot of creative and innovative toys here, but the best part is the staff. They know exactly which toys appeal to which age groups and are happy to get on the floor with your kids and bring down toys that they think they'd love. They seem to really have a finger on the pulse of the toy industry and be great with kids. They seem to really care and it shows. We've gotten a few fun toys here over the past few months and really appreciate the range of toy prices and sizes too. Last time we were in, they invited us to an upcoming story time and while we couldn't make it, we hope to attend one in the future!

There's always been at least one employee that will geek out with us about our favorite characters. I recently purchased a Coraline doll for my youngest from The Toy Pit, and she was so thrilled. She's carried her everywhere for the last week. Their Barbie collection is pretty impressive. You can also find Labubu and My Little Ponies from the 80's. There's always something new to check out.

My husband was interested in purchasing a chess set, and lifted up the top of the box to see the size of the chess pieces. The worker yanked it out of his hands and yelled at him. It's fine to tell him not to open a box (although he was in no way damaging it), but this should have been handled differently, particularly as one of the reasons people go to these stores rather than shopping online is to see what they are buying. The games and puzzles are also way over-priced. You can find them for half the price on Amazon. Apparently they also have a horrible return policy. You can return only an unopened item and only for store credit and only within a short period of time. I will never buy anything from this store again.
