We thought a curry would suit so went into Omars where we were immediately shown to the last available table in the house at that time which gives an indication of it's popularity. We were attended by a very well presented waiter who was able to put us at some ease and recommend both starters and main courses to us having little idea ourselves of the content or flavour of a very varied Indian cuisine on the menu. We ordered wine and leisurely ate the papadums and sauces whilst waiting for the starters. The garlic mushrooms were fine and very tasty, however my friend's samosas were rather overdone and so crisp as to be considerably resistant to the sharp knife supplied but on making a compalint a replacement dish was quickly served along with profuse apologies and the dish proved very enjoyable. The main courses as recommended were a Dhansak and a Jalfrezi served with mushroom rice and Naan bread. The mains were served from hot metal bowls and were absolutely delicious. I had some misgivings about a jalfrezi being too spicey for my taste but it was beautifully flavoured to just the right level and the dhansak was just as delicious as were the mushroom rice and naan bread which we shared. On settling our account we were offered a complimentary liquer and great interest was shown in our satisfaction on the evening's fayre. Saturday nights one expects a good restaurant to be busy and some waiting involved giving time to anticipate the pleasures of the dish ordered and in all we were more than pleased with the cuisine and service. Finally the price was perfectly acceptable given the surroundings, attention, service and concern in this establishment which offers a personal atmosphere with the tables set in different rooms not one noisy mass dining room. Extremely enjoyable and well worth a return visit if ever I am that way again from Lancashire.

However there's issues with consistency in taste of the Sambar, and also sometimes the Dosa gets too oily, so settled on the 4 stars. I also think the price of the idli-sambar is a bit expensive, but overall taste is good. The utthapham is another winner in the taste department. But the Sambar and Coconut chutney have issue with consistency, depending on the chef in the kitchen. So sometimes I have come, and the Sambar has had too much of a spicy kick, and I can't eat it all! Other times it's been great. Same for the chutney - massive variation in taste. Overall however, I find this Dosa Village to be much more affordable than its branch in Birmingham, although the restaurant on Birmingham has a bigger menu. I rang and advised what the issues were and was told it wasn't his fault as he wrote it on the order and what did I want him to do. I wanted the dish again not as hot, the saag aloo with potato in and the missing poppadoms. I was sighed at and told "well it will be a while to wait" so I asked what about the rest of the food we couldn't eat as it would go cold. I was told "there is nothing I can do about that is there". On the replacement arriving I was told they wanted the dishes they were replacing back. I advised they had been put in the bin as they weren't what we wanted and i was told to get them out.

I don't mind as it's common at most restaurants. The new decor is an improvement, however a tad seedy Moving on, staff were polite, however the food was not only overpriced, but more importantly of a very poor quality. Overcooked Lamb, Under seasoned and unbalanced spices. Also very oily! The best thing about this restaurant was the attentive staff and the naan bread and obviously the drinks. Titash, new chef needed or re-train him/her.
