Just that alone deserves a few stars. Inside, the restaurant is really nicely decked out, with an authentic feel resounding from the décor and seating arrangements. One thing I noticed first was the price. Wow, this place is quite spendy for a curry! Expect to fork out around $18 for a vegie curry alone. Add rice, bread and drinks to this and you're looking at around $40 per head for dinner, which is a little rich for Thai. That's said the food is quite good, and if you don't mind the extra expense, check out Poppy's Thai, even if it's just for the front door.

There are so many reasons why I love Thai food. The richness of coconut cream, the spiciness of…read morechilli and the tangy flavour that comes from ginger and lemongrass. Great Thai food should be able to combine all of those flavours and not let them overwhelm one another. Narai Thai comes pretty close to delivering. The menu may look pretty standard but the flavours are definitely present, and several dishes are brilliant. I recommend the calamari salad ($9.90) as an entrée, followed by either the Muu Yang ($14.90) or the sweet chilli jam stir-fry with chicken ($12.90). Narai offers take away, but it's always nice to dine there. I love being in the restaurant surrounded by purple and silver decorations, and the polite and hospitable staff. While Narai may not be able to keep up with the fusion fine dining Thai venues in Melbourne, it holds its ground well amongst hundreds of local Thai restaurants where the customers go just for a serve of pad Thai.

You get a sprinkle of salt and a handful of peanuts on the side to add at your leisure and it has been the stand out dish of our trips. Others are not as consistent. The green curry is a little sweet for my taste and the coconut rice can be spectacular and can be a little dry. These guys are serving really good food in an area/suburb which is lacking, unless of course you are a fun of Fasta Pasta and pizza loaded with strips of ham and onion (old school Australian pizza). The husband/wife owned business ensures a comfortable feel and service is a little clunky and disorganized, like a family home. I'm one of those people who really seeks out the best curries. I'm not too fussed about other Thai dishes. Don't get me wrong, I'll wolf down bucketload after bucketload of pad thai, but it's the curries that keep me interested in a restaurant. The curries at Siam Village are excellent. I usually grab the massaman curry with beef. If you know the dish, you'll know that the potatoes in that dish can really seem a bit underdone at many restaurants. Haven't had that experience here. They're exactly as you would hope. The décor is really quite nice. Although the furniture itself is dark, the whole restaurant seems quite light and airy. In a slick surrounding and with staff that know that good service means a lot, Siam Terrace serves up some damn fine fare any night of the week. Good for group bookings, (book in advance); Siam Terrace does a great range of Thai cuisines, and caters to the vegetarian of the group with ease. Try the pumpkin fritters as an entree for a coconut infused snack to warm the belly up before the main event. I enjoy the cashew nut stir-fry, with mixed vegetables and tofu for a main, or any of the curries on offer. Siam terrace also delivers to the local area for no charge if your order is over $25. They also deliver beer by the 6 pack, saving you a trip to the bottle shop.
