First off, props to our server Lindsay for being super sweet and giving us great service. However, the food was very average in my opinion. I got the lunch special with minestrone soup and a chicken pesto Panini. The minestrone soup was good, but nothing special. The Panini was frankly not that good. The bread was good, but the chicken was super dry and tough to eat. I honestly did not finish the sandwich, even though it was only half of a sandwich anyway. This was our second time eating here - the first was like 3 years ago for a private event (which was held in a separate room, which was nice). Last night (Valentine's Day) we showed up without a reservation- we're in town for a funeral and weren't really thinking about the "holiday," but no worries. We only waited about 15 minutes for a table, and it's nice to wait at the bar. Unfortunately, our server, while super sweet and friendly, was in the weeds for our entire visit (despite having only 3 - 4 tables). We brought our drinks from the bar, but I had to ask for water 3 times. I think she may be pretty new. We started with Caprese, because if it's on the menu, I'm getting it (despite the season)! I requested no roasted red peppers (I am a purist - not sure why some places do it with the peppers). The good - the tomatoes were nice, ripe and juicy, definitely a big plus for this time of year. The mozzarella wasn't dry (that makes me crazy) and there was a nice amount of the balsamic glaze. Here's the issue - no seasoning. I had to ask for salt & pepper (twice). A little cracked black pepper and a touch of Malden or sea salt would have made a huge difference. It want bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it wasn't quite great. There was some confusion ordering the entree - there was a special that included the build your own pasta (which I do often in other places). I asked if they could do Angel hair with garlic & olive oil and the server said no. I told her I would pay regular price, no worries. That was a good clue that she was probably new. Hubby had the manicotti, which was good. Nice size (not huge - just right) with a good amount of baked cheese on top. I got my Angel hair, but it was a bit bland. A little more garlic would have gotten it closer, and there was the salt I had asked for earlier. The rolls were tasty - soft and warm. Unfortunately we had to ask for them when our meals came out. A refill would have been appreciated, but not offered. All in all, not a bad experience but not one for the scrapbook either. We will return, though, to see how they do on a normal night. read more

I ate here last night & decided to get the crab stuffed mushroom for appetizer for my meal. I think it was the worst thing I've ever eaten. I know some say don't order seafood at an Italian place. I say don't have it on the menu if you can't make it. My crab was some filler that looked horrible & smelt like fish. I almost threw up my first bite & I left it on the table ! I went here with my family on a Saturday evening. There were very few people here which was great as we were seated immediately. The server came and greeted us and grabbed our drink orders. I ordered a chicken capris panini, Caesar salad and my family shared a pizza. I did not enjoy the panini , it had the chicken breast and balsamic sauce but it still felt like it was missing something. It was very bland to say the least. Now my Caesar salad was probably the best Caesar I've had in a long time. I quite literally cleaned the bowl. Now I did originally ordered calamari but my server forgot to put it in and by the time they realized we had already eaten our main course. It was no big deal as I was not interested in it anymore. Not impressed with the food here. Boring /bland nothing distinctive to even to come back for. Poorest rendition of Italian cuisine ever. Overpriced at any price. Yeast rolls were akin to eat bread dough. The service was acceptable but were competing with a large group of women being attended to by the same server. Not an acceptable scenario for the customer. Our first visit was on a Thursday night. The good thing, 1/2 price on bottle wine. Quick service and very attentive from the wait staff. Salads and soup was out quickly and our meal was hot. My wife and I split the Tour of Italy and was very satisfied with the portions. The best tasting of the four dishes was the chicken parm. The other 3 samples where ok. The meat ball lack flavor. The soup was delicious and I have gone back 2 more times to make sure it wasn't a fluke. The Chemo was literally killing her. I was trying to take care of her and our 3 children after working an 8 hour day. On a Wednesday, they use to run specials, so on my way home, I stopped by and ordered the special, " 2 cheese pizzas". After picking up the children from daycare, we sat down and had some pizza. My wife that had literally been bedridden for the past 4 days without an appetite and didn't want anything to drink, smelled the Pizza. To our surprise, she walked into the kitchen, very gingerly and asked if she may have a slice? With tears in my eyes I told her that she can have the entire pie!! That was honestly her turning point. I called him pop, not knowing his real name but to this day, thanking him for giving me my wife and the kids their mother back!!! read more

So, for this rating - I want to give more stars, I really do...but I can't. My wife and I took one of our young daughters here because it's where she wanted to go. My daughter got a kids meal of chicken tenders and fries and a lemonade and my wife and I each got salads. The salads were normal size and truthfully were tasty but they were $17 each! For some iceberg lettuce, croutons, cheese and 3 grilled chicken strips. my wife and I got water and my daughter got a kids drink which was $3 - you read that right, the kids meal excluded a drink! It was as tall as my wallet! Honestly, I was floored that this lunch, with tip, was over $50! I know inflation is getting all of us - but over $50 for two salads and a kids meal??? This is not the first time I have been here and the staff and service is great! Most of the time the food is mediocre on a good day. You can make something better with dried pasta and sauce from Kroger but that's not what going out to dinner is about. Tonight I had the veal marsala and it was one of the WORST meals I ever had. Almost nothing but a pile of mushrooms on dried out veal. DO NOT order this dish. If you want it, go to a place in Baltimore or NYC where you can get veal where mushrooms are a part of the sauce, not the entree! Used to love Roma's in Sandston many years ago, but it closed.. Tried this one in Mechanicsville. It is a terrible thing when a business tries to cut corners everywhere. The tables were completely bare - no salt/pepper/sweetener/parmesan cheese shaker. Are they afraid people will still these things? Silverware, while metal, were only a step above plastic. The food was only mediocre although large serving. The spaghetti sauce was thick with very little flavor. We asked for parmesan cheese and were each brought a tiny metal individual cup with cheese. Yet the staff was laid back and it seems uncaring !!! My mother in law suffers from several medical conditions and can not eat a full meal ....we asked for an item from the kids menu and was told by our waitress she would have to check if we could ...then the manager comes over and informed us that the owners policy says only under 13 could order from the kids menu. We asked her if she could make an exception or us ...her response was I've made an executive decision and say No ...to the owner you may have a nice looking establishment..yet your staff has no class and willing to throw you under a bus by blaming you for an absurd policy !!! With COVID-19 pretty much in full swing it's nice to have takeout options! We ordered takeout from Roma for lunch and weren't disappointed. The mozzarella sticks (8 cheesy, Golden-crisped taste of heaven) definitely satisfied our craving for something cheesy and fried. All lunch specials are complimented with a side and drink I ordered the chopped chicken and cheese sub and enjoyed it! The mozzarella, lettuce, mayo and grilled onions were the perfect combo as well as the chicken too. The pink lemonade was a nice addition and my side was fries you get a decent amount. My mom ordered the cheese steak sub with fries and enjoyed her meal. Plenty of bang for your buck! All in all I'd do takeout again. Arrived with ample parking and my first thought inside of the restaurant was that it was very...beige. I was helped pretty quickly but none of the staff were wearing their masks properly - all had the mask pulled down where it showed their nose. Pizzas themselves were alright, a bit greasy but I thought it was good. My sisters thought Papa John's was better (*sigh* teenagers...). This place is solid! I didn't feel like cooking on a Monday and contemplated some of the usual places but I decided to try somewhere new. To my surprise it was Pasta Monday you choose a noodle and sauce for about $7 you can add toppings for more or even a side salad. I chose the Alfredo and my husband got lasagna. The portion size is adequate for having left overs, and it came with a homemade role. No need to ask for extra Alfredo sauce my pasta was appropriately dressed lol.
