My wife, who's Italian, wants to take this +1 hour trip several times a year just to come here because it reminds her of the various "Mom & Pop" restaurants of her hometown in northeast PA. It sits in downtown DuBois with plenty of parking options nearby. The restaurant is good sized but it also does a lot of business so plan ahead on the weekends. The inside has a cozy/hometown feel with pictures of their family all over the walls. I don't think much has changed to the interior in those 20 years and that's okay by me. For this outing we opted for the antipasta salad, Italian wedding soup, veal parm and stuffed manicotti. Their dishes are more traditional italian (i.e. not olive garden) and they offer lunch, half, or full-sized portions. Their gravy has a good balance between sweet and savory. They also make a great fresh baked loaf of bread and they're happy to bring several to the table throughout the course. It was a special occasion so we closed out the night with their famous strawberry cheesecake. Service was excellent and the bill, with several drinks, was around $60 for 2. This is not a chain; it has character, it's not polished but it's a true gem of spot in rural PA. I'm glad places like this still exist!

The owner is present almost all the time tending to things and checking in on tables. I have never ever had a bad meal here. Like not ever. Not even a mediocre meal. Always rates very good to great. From the steaks. To the seafood, to the Italian specialties.....just tops. It is hard to get into during the ski season, and not too easy even off season, so please do plan and make a reservation. If you can snag a booth, that is the best. The bar is a great place to come for a drink with a friend or to watch a sporting event. My most recent visit to the restaurant was this past Friday, a nice night in early May. We met some friends here for dinner. We had two appetizers of stuffed peppers which are absolutely amazing with just the right amount of heat, and the Nona's Meatball with gooey rich ricotta cheese.....yum yum. My husband ordered a house salad, which was crisp and delicious. For entrees, our companion couple ordered the twin filets and the fish fry. Both were reported to be fantastic. My husband ordered the Chicken Parmesan and I ordered the Chicken Milanese. Absolutely excellent. For dessert, both couples shared their own order of Tiramisu. I ordered an Espresso and that simply rounded out an amazing dinner. I really can't recommend this place enough.

Service was great and super friendly and we were seated immediately around dinner time. Since it was the "battle" it was loud inside but we didn't mind. Villagio's lies on the sidestreet in what looks like an old barn. It has a unique rustic charm that we enjoyed. It's an italian based restaurant that offers bread with olive oil and seasonings to start. We didn't realize that and also got cheesy bread which comes with a red sausce. Both were delicious. For entrees I ordered bucatini carbonara with chicken and my wife ordered the filleto's. Pricing was reasonable in the $20-$30 range per peson. We enjoyed the visit and had a great time!

Restaurant inside is like a diner; but the staff was friendly and helpful. We started with the breadsticks with cheese; served on a plate with garlic butter sauce, delicious. Served with marinara. Side salads fresh. I had the chicken parm, very good, chicken perfect, spaghetti not al dente but good, got a meatball added, good flavor. Aimée had the lasagna, said it was very very good. We got to the place sat down and the table was dirty, I told the manager that it needs cleaned. He gave me an attitude but he cleaned it. And then we ordered food. The portions are smaller. The prices went up and the quality is not as good. My daughter ordered a Cheeseburger, it was burnt. We couldn't tell anybody about it because nobody ever came back to our table. We never received the bill. So I went up to the counter and told him we need the bill......After we ordered a food and After we got done eating. We had a stack of dishes about 2 feet in front of our table that nobody would take and the manager was cleaning all the other tables. I went up to pay for the food and told them to take the cheeseburger off. Because my daughter didn't like it. And he says well, that's too bad. That's how they make him here. After arguing with him for 10 minutes or so he said he'll take it off. Then I asked for a refill on my diet Pepsi, he said they don't have refills. I've never heard of a restaurant that does not have refills. And then I ask him well, just give me 2 Styrofoam cups so we could take our drinks to go. He said they don't give you drinks to go. He wouldn't give me 2 cups. I guess he's very cheap.i told him I don't see what the big deal is......I don't know what the story is at this place . I will never go back there again. We come up this way couple times a month because we have a house in the the forest..... a vacation home that is..and drive 100 miles to get here...if i want an attitude i would have stayed in Pittsburgh...but we will quit coming here. For now, on, we'll go to much better places in the area.

I loved that this place had options for everyone- vegetarian, seafood, beef, steak, pasta, salads... you name it! Everyone ordered something different at our table and it all turned out amazing! I personally ordered the chicken Alfredo and added broccoli and asparagus to it! We opted for wine and it was nice to see delicious bottles of wine for $30 at such a high end restaurant! We also ordered the calamari appetizer which was cooked perfect and had an amazing red tomato sauce for dipping. The margarita pizza is amazing! And to top off the entire meal we ordered the cappuccino creme brûlée . HOLY SMOKES- the best dessert ever! It was crisp perfectly on the top, the flavor was rich and creamy- absolutely perfect!
