Anchorage…read moreTrailhead is a 2.1 paved trail that is quite scenic and mostly flat for those of us who are a bit older but still enjoy hiking. It's a peaceful stroll in a mostly wooded area. Yeah, there a few areas that lack a bit of shade on a hot day but overall it's a nice walk.

This place continues to expand their natural play spaces and there is so much to explore! My kids,…read more6&2, love hiking to see the giants, and spending time in the natural playground. There are water and dirt/sand play spaces, so may want to pack extra clothes for the ride home. There are plenty of paved or gravel paths as well as backcountry trails. Pack a lunch and stay all day! If you're walking the giants path, there is often a snow cone truck parked near Mama Loumari on the weekends. They also offer plenty of family events, so be sure to check the calendar. It is $15 per car to enter or $75 for an annual pass. We find it totally worth the pass as a family who drives from Louisville. Leashed dogs are welcome. Remember to bring your bags to clean up after them :)

Catching up on an overlooked review for the annual Indigenous Peoples Powwow held at Bernheim in…read more2025. The scheduled 2026 Powwow was cancelled due to weather event. Hoping this will still be rescheduled for this year or at the very least that it will return in 2027. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience and being exposed to a special cultural event. Tribes from across the nation were on site. We had several opportunities to interact with various members of the tribes in attendance and questions were welcomed and answered. I believe members as far away as North Dakota had traveled here to participate. The beading and decorative embroidery on the clothing was explained. These are NOT costumes, which is terminology that is considered an insult. It was explained regarding the difference in that these are their clothes and not some sort of dress up play acting session. The drumming and dancing was also explained. We were also able to try fry bread and several other food items, which was an epic experience to have at least a hinting glimpse into another culture. Looking forward to attending future powwows.

This is where they actually train and have opened this little piece to the public. Come and join me in some hiking . They have ample parking but can fill up. A lot of individuals bring their dogs, make sure and take care. After a rain storm, and snow storms this area is muddy. While we hiked the trails the mud was all over. But we live in Kentucky. Mud and snow; eventually will not stop us. Just prepare yourself ahead of time. The views of the waterfall are beautiful. On one of the trials it was washed out. But you can make your way around. Nature is the ultimate gift and enjoy it . Make sure and leave nature the way you found it.

This little hike was recommended to me after a snowstorm--which I definitely would not suggest…read more It's mostly uphill, and the wind turned everything into ice, making it really challenging to traverse. Outside of that particular experience (and once I was on the return down-hill), I realized this trail is short, simple, charming , and easy, with a few spots offering really pretty overlook views along the way. About halfway in, a babbling creek starts to follow you, hinting that you're nearing the final destination. Then you can hear the waterfalls before rounding a bend to reveal them. The falls are fantastic with multiple levels and a very peaceful melody. Just a heads-up: the trail begins with a walk down a service road since the original trail is now on private property, roped off as part of a very interesting-looking old house/building. At the end of the service road, there's a short but steep uphill path path to rejoin the trail. After that--smooth sailing.

This a short little walking trail directly behind/beside the Louisville Zoo. Perfect distance for…read moresmall legs. My 3 year old walked the whole trail with ease. Near the beginning of the trail you can look right up the hill and see some enclosures within the Zoo. We heard the lion roaring loudly several times. The kids were super thrilled and it made our adventure hike even more exciting for their young imaginations! As you walk along a small creek cuts in on your left bank.... the kids were delighted. Trail ends at a small neighborhood.... took us about 30- 35 mins to walk the entire trail with little legged walkers. Tip: If you GPS the Jim King Trail it will lead you to the Schuff end of the trail. This is the neighborhood side. There is no parking here. To access this trail go to the Louisville Zoo. Drive through the front parking lot to the to the small side lot that juts behind the zoo to the left. The trail opening is marked by two yellow poles.

Lamborne Blvd trailhead is a small, east town all nature trail that is hidden in the southend of…read moreLousiville Kentucky that connects a path from Lamborne ave to manslick road. Part of the seemingly never Ending Lousiville loop course this is concert led path that connects the two above mentioned roads. The scenery is woodland and some farm area with cows. There is an off beaten woodland path that can be explored as well. If you are a bike rider or have a stroller you can stay on the concrete path. Overall a nice and easy to walk path with mainly flat surfaces that not many people know about. It's never really crowded and always really quiet and peaceful. Nice hidden gem in the city of Lousiville.

We enjoyed this little walking trail. It was very light traffic if any at the time we went. The…read moresides of the trail are cut down and kept up pretty good. We have a pup with three paws so we turned around half way to walk back. I'm looking forward to going back & walking more of the trail. I like that the map shows you by the parking lot. It's always useful to take a picture of that to look back on if you need it. As always, stay alert & happy hiking. (even though this is more of a walk ;) )
