When I think of Anchorage, I think very nice and small. Those were the same terms I assumed for this trail, and I was dead wrong! (But only about the small part.) Anchorage Trail is a huge park that has all kinds of beautiful scenery and is perfect for walkers/hikers/bikers/runners. I never really had a problem with trying to figure out where to go, as everything is clearly marked and the beginning of the trail shows a map of all the different routes. There were a couple times where path would split into two or three ways, but every trail takes you in a big circle. There's so much to see on your way around. You'll find big open wheat fields, some beautiful houses, a small lake, and maybe even some furry friends! (deer, that is..) I highly recommend this trail for some great outdoors in the East end.

Awesome walking tail located in anchorage. Our daughter is attending slime camp a Ross the street at whet your Pilate so we decided to check this place out. Very quiet and peaceful. Can either stay on concrete laid paths or small nature paths as well. Very beautiful scenery to take in with the wilderness, creeks, bridges, ponds and open spaces. There is a spot if two with an old fashioned tree swing to give it a vintage touch as well.

This is by far one of the best hidden gems in the Louisville area. It is marked by stone walls, brick paths, and wooden bridges which provides a vintage feeling as well as many modern touches to make it safe and appealing to all ages. From tree swings to dirt and paved paths, a dog park, and an accessible creek, this is a must do on the list of outdoor recreation! Bikers, runners, and walkers are always welcome, Don't miss it!

Holy walking trails Batman, who knew?! I'm still not sure how I have lived so close to this awesome trail for 4 years and just discovered it? Anchorage trail is a 2-mile paved loop of sheer beauty that winds over creeks, through fields and trees, beside Willow Lake and more. The trail is approximately 10 feet wide with plenty of room for walkers, runners, and bikers. It is pet friendly but signage and doggy bag stations remind owners to pick up after their dogs! While walking we saw an amphitheater, tree swings, scenic lake docks, unique benches, an old outhouse (replica?) and more. There are numerous nature paths leading off the main paved trail, but we didn't take time to explore those (it was a balmy 40 degrees!). The path was very well maintained and we can't wait to go back and see it in the spring! There was a small parking lot near the entrance, that I imagine might get crowded during warmer months or during events held at the amphitheater. I am so happy to have learned about the Anchorage Trail and will definitely be a frequent guest!

Concerned doe letting me know, "that's close enough."

As a wildlife photographer, I know my way around the park system in the Louisville area very well. Anchorage Park has an extremely rich wildlife ecosystem very representative of all the wildlife one might expect to see in the region, located in one small park. Never disappointed.

    Sitting area near the lake.

A little bit woods, a little bit country, little bit rock & roll -- this community trail packs in a great deal of fun. There is a paved main waking path and a cleared but rugged nature trails under the bridges and through the woods (no really -- it goes under one of the bridges on the paved path). The nature trail is perfect for humans, horses and dogs alike -- but they nicely remind you (with lots of signs and doggy bag stations) that everyone doesn't love your dog as much as you do -- so clean up after it. The trail winds through the woods and up to some on Anchorages neighboring properties. Check "yes" next to these boxes: Amphitheater, flowing creek, scattered and plentiful tree swings, docks with lake views, vibrant sunsets, frolicking deer, quacking geese, bird feeders and rustic benches, fresh air and wide open spaces. The path is not lighted -- but that hasn't stopped me or the Village Anchors that trek this trail. It's not uncommon to come across families, runners, dog walkers and even horse riders as the sun sets and visibility is low. It's a trail you can walk at all hours and never feel unsafe. My only words of warning are for: 1) the paved trail after a heavy rain it floods In some areas and gets pretty muddy in others. 2) the nature trail -- as awesome as it is, it's not super clearly marked as you get deep into it. I once followed what I thought was the path into someone's backyard. (If you're reading this -- I like your fire pit area. The chairs looked super comfy .. but I'm not Goldilocks -- so I didn't try them for myself)

I took the trail for the first time today and wow was I impressed. It is very neatly maintained and just beautiful. Anchorage did a wonderful job of carving out this magnificent place right in the middle of their city. The trail can be used for walking or bikes and has markers to tell you the distance you've traveled. It is also used as a dog walk and there are bag stations along the trail for people to use. They seem to let all the tress, plants and shrubs grow in their natural state which sets this park apart from others. This is a great place to get away from it all and it makes you feel like you are in the country.

Anchorage Trail is a gem that was right under my nose, but I never noticed it! Even though the trail is in the middle of the Anchorage area, when walking it I felt like I was somewhere far away in nature. The trails are very nicely paved, the brush is well maintained, and there are plenty of spots to stop and rest or enjoy the view. Even though we walked on Thanksgiving, the views were so gorgeous. We saw a couple families taking their family photos and I'm sure they turned out beautifully! Our dogs also enjoyed the walks, and were nice and exhausted for the rest of the night. There are gentle elevations along the way, but not too strenuous for me (and I am not very physically fit). The one improvement might be to better mark the trail and its pattern, as we worried about getting lost!

It is so peaceful and beautiful, and well maintained. It is a 2 mile path, with various wooded paths off the main one. What a hidden gem

This is one of my favorite spots in Louisville. Perfect 2 mile loop that you can take after grabbing coffee from the Anchorage Cafe. What puts this trail above others around here is its shade. Most of the walk is shaded which makes it a lot more enjoyable in the summer. Also, its super stroller and dog-friendly.

    Lovely wildflowers bordering the path

Outside of that particular experience (and once I was on the return down-hill), I realized this trail is short, simple, charming , and easy, with a few spots offering really pretty overlook views along the way. About halfway in, a babbling creek starts to follow you, hinting that you're nearing the final destination. Then you can hear the waterfalls before rounding a bend to reveal them. The falls are fantastic with multiple levels and a very peaceful melody. Just a heads-up: the trail begins with a walk down a service road since the original trail is now on private property, roped off as part of a very interesting-looking old house/building. At the end of the service road, there's a short but steep uphill path path to rejoin the trail. After that--smooth sailing.

I wasn't ready for that, but I made it! We got some beautiful pictures of the waterfall. The waterfall was easy to walk around in and can get wet if you wanted too. Great place to cool down as well. There was also a train track that we walked on and it was right over a creek. Very high up but cool to see. I would definitely go back to visit the trail. I will know more of what I'm getting into next time.

Since this is located near our cabin, I'm sure we will be back at another time when the falls are full. Just not this time around. What is there to say? Well, they have a ton of walkways that were added, making it accessible for all types of people. This isn't ADA accessible, but it is an easy up and down for those who can't move strenuously. There are places to sit where you can go underneath the waterfall when applicable, and it offers a really pretty view from almost all vantage points. Upon arriving, we found a nice parking area, along with a port-a-potty. There were several little picnic areas and seating areas within feet of the parking lot. This is definitely one of the most accessible scenic areas we've been to. There are stairs with handrails heading down into the gorge. You can walk across the falls on a wooden bridge and then head down more stairs to the bottom. At this point, you can either turn around and head up, or if you're more adventurous and want to head off on a less groomed path and over some rocks, you can do that! Unfortunately, the waterfall was not flowing when we were there. I had assumed it always was, so was a little disappointed at that. I have since read up on it a bit and it seems rainy season is the best time to go to see the falls in all their glory! However, since it was dry, we could climb over rocks and explore rather safely. We hiked for a while and then turned back, as we weren't sure how far it went and we needed to hit the road. We spent about 30-45 minutes walking around and taking it in. You can make this stop in as a little as 5-10 minutes if you wanted. Longer to explore! It was beautiful! If you're in the area and have time to stop, I recommend it!

I joined the Air Force in the early eighties after this conflict but worked with some of the soldiers who were there. The soldiers who returned from this conflict were not welcomed like the others. It was a peculiar war in that I remember one soldier describing it as fighting for a hill and losing friends and then have to withdraw to fight again to fight for the same hill as before. America had the fire power to keep the hill the first time but we're ordered to retreat. Then the soldier would shut down because it was too painful to relieve it. They would stay that way for rest of the day. Before joining the military I attended my only military funeral as a young teenager.
