Here's a cool tree we stumbled upon!

I love this park, it is huge and beautiful! My husband proposed to me here and we try to visit every time we're in the area!

My absolute favorite park in the city of Louisville. Massive park systems that connects to multiple parks, walking trails and amazing sights. Thai particular portion of the park has a very large spray ground that I've taken advantage of numerous times with my children. It also has a massive playground area. Fair warning though on hot summer days when going from the splash park to the playground to have the kiddos and adults put on shoes. They use rubber matting and it gets scorching hot on the bare feet. This park if you keep driving through does eventually connect to turkey run park and the brown foreman silo which is a cool sight seeing opportunity. I've yet to discover all trails and probably never will as there are so many options. The small walking trails towards the entrance are very peaceful, moderate difficult and beautiful. I can not recommend this park enough. Every time I go I fell like I discover a new part. Always lots of fun and adventure for all ages.

I cannot believe it took me this long to visit Broad Run Park at The Parklands of Floyds Fork! This has to be my new favorite park! I met with a new friend Sunday and walked about 5 miles. The paved path is covered with some shade and is very easy to walk. I think it would be great for someone wanting to rollerskate or rollerblade. There were many paths into the woods. My new friend showed me a few cool spots in the wooded areas. I'm excited to come back and explore even more!

Beautiful place to take the dogs on a hike, enjoy a bike ride, and enjoy the nature right here in Louisville.

Absolutely beautiful park! My dad wanted to show me some nearby parks in Fern Creek, and I'm so glad that he showed me this one! The ones I normally go to are fairly small, so when I visited Broad Run, I was astonished by its beautiful wide open spaces. It's got just about everything. Walking/running/biking trails, lookouts, and a fun, good-sized playground for children. Not to mention it's also got a small creek if you're into kayaking. There are multiple parking lots, and overall just a nice, safe family-friendly place. Can't wait to come back already!!

This park is absolutely wonderful! The splash pad is quite big where the kids have fun running around. There are two parks attached to the splash pad that can accommodate little and bigs kids. Covered picnic areas are available for families to eat and also to have celebrations but its first come first serve. Bathrooms and water fountains are available for use as well. Animals, skateboards, grills, bikes and scooters are prohibited. Throughout the park area there are walking/running/biking trails. There is a silo that you can climb and look at the beautiful view.

Great park for families. Lots of open spaces, playground, sprayground, and trails are well kept. Park is dog-friendly (except the playground areas), assuming dogs are to be kept on-leash. I love walking my dogs here. Beautiful all year with native plants galore. I have seen many birds and pollinators as well as a few snakes on my trips. Highly recommend!

When you doom scroll, you come across many different places that are true hidden gems. Door To Nowhere, or Heigold House, is definitely an oddity and salute to the past. Some housekeeping, you know, things to know about this place. BE CAREFUL. This sits on a roundabout island with steady traffic. Be mindful to the traffic flow and businesses nearby (I parked at a nearby business off the road and walked over here). Be kind to the natural beauty that surrounds this. And most of all, be respectful. As I said, this sits on a roundabout with flowerbeds surrounding it. Whether you are facing front, as in looking at the front of the façade, or looking from the rear, please stay on the sidewalks provided. Take in the informational plaques as well. Built by Christian H Heigold, a successful stonecutter. Majority of the house was completed in 1853. Heigold was a master at stonecutting and completed the home with busts of Presidents George Washington and James Buchanan. Heigold was also a staunch opponent of the 'Know Nothing Party,' and anti-immigration political party and I would like to think that he built his house with all the busts was a big middle finger to those that were anti-immigration. This façade sat in what was known as the The Point neighborhood, which was favored by those that moved to the city from the New Orleans area. Once Louisville diverted the Beargrass Creek away from downtown, this place started to flood annually. Shifting people away from the neighborhood and then the Great Flood of 1937 happened. Slowly the city started buying houses and demolishing them. Ultimately using the land as a dump site. Then this façade was listed on the National Registry of Historical Places. Remained in that area which became Thruston Park. That is until a developer bought the land adjacent to this and build condos. They moved this massive beast, 70,000-pounds, across River Road to where it sits today.
