First time ever trying this place even though I grew up in SCV. I must say I was pleasantly surprised! We ordered the orange chicken, teriyaki chicken, sashimi, sushi, fried gyoza, and 4 different kinds of rolls. Our stomachs were full and happy! The orange and teriyaki chicken were very tasty. The fish for the sushi and sashimi were good quality and the rolls were as expected for a sushi place. It seems like the cup bop is quite popular so I will be trying that the next time. I am also looking forward to trying the udon and ramen as I love me some noods. The food is reasonably priced even with the current inflation and the quality was good as well. I recommend this hidden gem if you're looking for a quick bite for some sushi or Asian food. Cheers!

Tuna Roll
Ronald M.

My son was making a sushi run and brought me back a tuna roll. For himself it was shrimp and salmon rolls, as well as a bowl of ramen. I was a bit hesitant to try anything from this restaurant again, after a less than favorable food experience there several years back. But my sons have always enjoyed eating here so a second try was in order. Takeout, and on my son's return I relished those 6 pieces of sushi and wished I'd asked him to bring me more. Maybe the tuna this time was the difference from the spicy tuna I ordered last time. But it could have been just them having a bad day. I'm just glad I gave them another try.

Orange Chicken Plate

Amazing Japanese food. My GO TO for a quick lunch or dinner. Their food is always delicious, consistently, and they are very friendly and welcoming. Definitely go here over Panda Express, etc, it is way better. My usual is the orange chicken plate, comes with a salad on the side for around $10.

Prices have surely gone up. And it's nearly at the point it's just too much for what you get. I hope prices stay the same. Or even more deals to make me even come back for more. Portion sizes have also decreased. But as mentioned, still really enjoyed the food.

the food and service is always great and very welcoming. I come here any chance I get to eat out. best place ever!

Sushi's not bad but, what the heck is this on my plate. Plus no sauce on any of my rolls.

Now you charge a lot for a large serving so I suggest to the owner if you're looking that maybe you offer half rolls at a lower price? Allow your patrons to try more of your menu. The fish eggs were a little fishy. I usually ask for none but they put it on thick. The salad was good and the service also put on a good air. Very attentive people. So if you're looking to leave very full and with a lighter wallet... this is your spot

What was supposed to be a small sushi date with our son after a miserable orthodontist appointment…read moreturned into one of the most frustrating restaurant experiences we've had. We decided to splurge a little and get sushi at Tokai Sushi. My son's food came out almost immediately, but being the chivalrous young man he is, he waited for mine so we could eat together. And waited. And waited. Thirty minutes later, my very simple tuna roll still hadn't arrived. During that time, nobody brought us water, we had no wasabi or ginger, and there was virtually no checking on our table. Meanwhile, loud pounding and construction noise from the other side of the wall was so intense it sounded like someone was trying to hammer their way into the restaurant. When I finally managed to flag someone down and ask where my food was, the initial response was to suggest that perhaps I had ordered something complicated that took longer. A tuna roll, Bento Box, and a Philly Roll... complicated? Eventually, they acknowledged what had actually happened: our ticket had been lost. Then came the proposed solution: 50% off an order that, at that point, we still hadn't even fully received. What bothered me most wasn't simply the lost ticket. Mistakes happen. It was the lack of attention, the initial attempt to explain the delay as somehow being related to what we ordered, and the reluctance to make things right once the mistake was acknowledged. We walked in hoping to turn a painful day into a nice sushi date with our suffering son. Instead, we spent it sitting beside pounding construction noise, without basic table service, watching one person's food get cold while waiting for a tuna roll that had apparently disappeared into the abyss. Tokai Sushi has been hit-or-miss for us before. Unfortunately, this one was a spectacular miss.

We asked to be seated outside since the weather was nice and the guy without hesitating gladly got the table cloth and set up our table by their patio. It didnt take long before our server took our order for drinks and appetizer. We usually enjoy our appetizer first before ordering our main entrees but by this time we did see that more and more people were coming in. We didnt want to have to wait a very long time for our order due to how busy they were so we decided to get our main entrees. We ended up getting: Jalapeno Bomb (appetizer): it came with 4 pieces of jalapeños with cream cheese and spicy tuna inside. The jalapeños were spicy but the flavor was there. We finished this right away. Albacore Lovers (his order): it had a lot of crispy garlic flakes which I loved. It has a slice of jalapeno on top which was spicy and left my mouth burning a little bit. Not a big deal. We dont usually order albacore and to my surprise I really liked this one. Volcano (my order): this was under their baked rolls. It had salmon outside and spicy tuna inside. It was good but it was a lot for me. The service here is top notch. Servers would always walk around to see if you need anything or want to order more. The prices are very reasonable too. We will definitely go back and I highly recommend this place.

We were seated right on time. Our server found us right away for drinks, and our chef soon showed up and began cooking. Like all Teppan restaurants, he did a show while he cooked our food. He was very personable and all of the food was cooked perfectly. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The only weird thing was no chopsticks! Forks were at the table, and while I didn't ask, I think they will provide them if you do. Because teppan is often sliced in pieces, it's always easier to eat with chopsticks. I could truly write a novel about how much I enjoy this restaurant. As someone who regularly comes…read morehere for sushi, I've had the opportunity to try different items on the menu throughout the years. I fully trust everything coming out of here will be high quality and delicious. When I say I have legitimately been begging Chef Tim for YEARS to offer an omakase experience, I truly mean YEARS. Well, it was a random Wednesday and I found myself wandering in for dinner. Because it was a little early (5:30pm), there were no other customers seated (toward 6:15pm it started getting busy though!) . I gladly took the opportunity to once again beg Chef Tim to do a makeshift omakase experience for my partner and I. I was overjoyed when he agreed since it was on the slower side. He knows our order, and is familiar with our taste preferences, so I completely trusted him. I was super excited to watch Chef Tim be in his element, allowing him to be creative and make something he wouldn't necessarily have time for on a busy day. His passion truly shines in his craft and I knew this was going to be quite an exciting experience. Chef Tim's makeshift omakase experience included: halibut with truffle oil, cripsy rice with toro and caviar, miso chilean sea bass, a trio of seared items including scallop, aburi toro and peppered salmon, Blue fin akami, salmon belly and yellowtail belly, a pickled radish roll with Bluefin tuna, salmon yellowtail, and avocado and the A5 wagyu with uni. He also made secret menu items such as deep fried scallops, maguro yamakake, and my newest favorite which was the "fish taco." The "Fish Taco" was a deep fried garlic red snapper over creamy spicy tuna. I really did enjoy each and every dish he selected for us. I couldn't even begin to rank them because they were all fresh, delicious, served at the perfect temperature and paired well with one another. He did a great job at spreading out raw with deep fried, for a great balance of flavors and textures. (I'm still wishing that he would offer an omakase experience one day - he absolutely killed it!). I was pleasantly surprised by the A5 Wagyu with uni, "Fish Taco" and the the seared trio. It's funny because if you were to ask me I'd say I LOVE raw fish, so the fact that these three stood out to me really surprised me. Another thing is, I would never gravitate toward beef at a sushi spot, but I was thoroughly impressed with how well the flavors infused together. I knew they offered it on their menu, and like I said before, I thoroughly trust them, so if I was going to go out of my element it would be here. Another thing that I wanted to mention was that you can special order a whole sushi cake! While we didn't pre order one today, we had it in the past and it's also one of my favorite items. It consists of salmon and ikura on top with rice, masago, and imitation crab inside. I'd much prefer this over a real cake any day! Overall if you've stayed with me for this long, then you can probably already tell that I'm the self proclaimed President of the Ananto fan club. I'm just really sorry to my partner's wallet because I keep adding more and more new foods we just HAVE to order every time we go ;).

However, since we were already there, we decided to give it a try. After getting seated, we ordered drinks and wrote down our sushi order on the paper provided. We also added a few appetizers and rolls. Even though there were no other customers, the food took quite a long time to come out. The most disappointing part was the service. Instead of placing the dishes on the table, the server just handed everything to me directly. I had to take every single plate and set it down on the table myself. I'm not sure if the server was untrained or just lazy, but my wife and I could only laugh at how absurd it was. To top it all off, the sushi we ordered at the very beginning never arrived, even after we had finished all our other food. It was clear they completely forgot about it, so we just asked for the check, paid, and left. This was our first time here, and we definitely won't be coming back.

She asked us if we had ever been there before, and we said no. She offered to give us the spiel of how everything works but it seemed pretty straight forward. There were three menus - All You Can Eat, Adventures in Niku, and A la Cart. We opted for the AYCE premium at $50/person. We were told we can order 2 meats per person, and then as many sides as we wanted when we put in an order. We ordered: Garlic edamame, cheese corn, cucumbers, vegetable spring rolls, fried pork gyoza dumplings, toro beef, angus beef rib, New York steak, pork belly, shishito peppers, and a few other meat options that I can't remember from the AYCE menu. A la cart we ordered the garlic rice. From the Adventures in Niku menu we got the $2.50 Kirin drafts. My personal favorites were the Angus Beef Rib, garlic edamame, garlic fried rice, and lots and lots of s'mores! We were very impressed with our server because she was very present and not on autopilot. For example, when we put in our first order we ordered the garlic fried rice and a two steamed white rices. I believe when a different employee dropped off our meats, she said she was going to get the white rice but never came back. My partner and I didn't think anything of it because the garlic fried rice was so large, and we can always order more steamed rice if we really needed it. About halfway into our meal, our server looks at our food and goes "didn't you order 2 steamed rices in addition to the garlic fried rice?!" I said yes and she immediately went to go get it. It was really nice to see that she wasn't just putting orders in as she heard them, but she was actually fully present and listening to what the order was and then doing mental checks to see if we had received everything. She was fantastic! In addition to our server, I noticed that there were bussers who would walk around looking for empty plates to remove. This really helped with keeping our table as empty as possible for all the food that we ordered. Overall, the food was something fun and different than we're used to. However, the stand out for me were the friendliness and efficiency from all the employees.

Dear Mr. T, I am…read morewriting to express my disappointment regarding an incident that occurred at your restaurant yesterday evening. First, I would like to say that my family and I have dined at your restaurant on several occasions and have always had positive experiences. We have enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service, which is why the experience we had last night was particularly disappointing. My family and I visited your establishment again and ordered from the à la carte menu. After we had finished most of our meal and paid our bill, some members of our party, including my brothers, were still enjoying their sake and finishing their drinks. To our surprise, a staff member approached us and asked us to leave the restaurant. While I understand that it was a busy evening and that there may have been other customers waiting for tables, I found it inappropriate and unprofessional to be asked to leave when we were still consuming items we had legitimately purchased. We did not order from an all-you-can-eat menu, which typically has a clearly stated time limit. As paying customers dining from the regular menu, we reasonably expected to be allowed to finish our food and beverages without feeling rushed or pressured to leave. What was most disappointing was the manner in which the situation was handled. Hospitality should include treating guests with courtesy and respect, regardless of how busy the restaurant may be. Being asked to leave while still finishing our drinks and foods left us feeling unwelcome and diminished what would otherwise have been an enjoyable dining experience. I hope you will address this matter with your staff and reinforce the importance of professional customer service and respectful communication. Thank you for taking the time to review my concerns. I would appreciate your acknowledgment of this complaint and any information regarding how this matter will be addressed. Sincerely, Carla
