This shop will hold a special place in my heart forever!…read more When I was shopping, my boyfriend stumbled upon this place and surprised me by getting my ring reshaped from its very smooshed oval shape back into a circle. He was chatting with Leonard about his projects, and having a good time distracting him from getting his work done, I'm sure, but Leonard was very nice and answered all of his questions. He told us how he makes jewelry and about his different tools, which was fun to learn about. While we were there, Leonard pointed out how delicate my ring had become over the years of wear. It was very thin and starting to separate in places, so reshaping it was tricky. He showed me under a microscope where the ring was worn down. My dad got me the ring in Mexico on my 16th birthday, and I've worn it everyday since then. I'm in my 30's now, for reference...it's been on my hand for over than half of my life. My dad passed away, so I need this ring to last. I asked if he could fix it, and he did me one better: he said he could make a mold of it and create a copy, but make it a bit thicker so it would last longer. That way, I can put my prized ring somewhere safe, but still have one to wear without worrying about it breaking. I just got the new ring back today, and it's absolutely perfect! They were looking for my birthday gift. They went in to the store and received no welcome. Like literally no one said anything. They were actually the only customers in the store. As they walked around they waited for someone to help them. Still nothing. They actually received "stares" from the staff that was in there. But no one said a word. Knowing my husband I am sure he was trying to get their attention. But still nothing. My niece made a comment like... is anyone going to help us? Then finally a lady told a girl to go help them. Needless to say she was not enthusiastic. And really offered no assistance. It turned out to be a disappointing experience for them. No one likes to be disregarded. Especially on a place where service is expected. My husband was there to spend money. I wanted a Toggle Necklace and he was going to find me one somewhere. Needless to say it was not at Kay's. And he has stated he will never shop there. He felt uncomfortable and unwanted and unwelcomed. I hate that experience for him.
