Unfortunately, my first Yelp review is a bad one.. I agree with the other reviewers : DO NOT RENT A BOAT FROM HERE. Extremely incompetent staff (George) and an unbelievably unorganized operation should have been warning signs that this was not a good place to rent a boat. But we did, and my parents and I ended up stranded 2 miles out in the ocean with an empty gas tank. Apparently, we weren't supposed to be in the ocean, but staff had told us to just follow the buoys, which led into the ocean, and made no mention of where we should and should not go, even after we requested a map (and told there was none - surprise). After calling the company more than 5 times, they finally sent someone out to get us - almost an hour since we broke down and were bobbing up and down on pretty rough seas. Then, unbelievably, they demanded we pay for the 'rescue.' My parents were traumatized form the awful experience (we could have easily capsized), but the owner was a money-hungry jerk, and didn't give a damn about our terrible experience - all he wanted to know was if we were going to pay cash or credit. Stay classy, Erich. If you're thinking of going boating around this area, do yourself a favor and find another place. read more

Great spot to eat outdoors with a beautiful view right on the north river. Food was delicious, typical New England seafood. Staff was friendly. Food came out very quick. They do take debit cards which is a +! I'd recommend going back. read more

I wanted to rent a boat there and they accepted my deposit. After confirming, at different times, with three of the staff members that my deposit could be used on a different date if the weather was bad, the owner ended up stating that we could not move the date even though thunder storms were predicted all day....definitely not where you want to be in a boat. He kept the deposit and was exceptionally rude, even though I had the names of the employees that I spoke with. Said I was lying. Would not trust this location - ever! I've had numerous excellent experiences at Roht Marine. It's a well-run marina, restaurant, and bar. The mixed drinks are delicious along with the fresh seafood plates. The flatbread pizzas and sandwiches are great as well. The food and drinks are very fairly priced. Try to get here for sunset for an even better experience! read more

Johnathan, you are obviously not a boater and we are all safer without you on the water. you were given clear instructions FOLLOW THE BUOYS. You got to the last buoy, the big green one with the bell and kept going for at least 2 miles without a buoy, so you did not follow the instructions that you said you got. The boat they rent is a 14 foot Whaler. A nice little boat for the river. Let me put this in terms you may understand..... You rented a Mini Cooper, they said just follow the road. You loaded the car to capacity with your parents and drove down the road. The road ended with a big green sign with a bell on it and clearly no more pavement. The road went from smooth pavement to dirt and mud with 2 foot ruts. You go forward anyway, not just a little bit, but you were at a minimum 2 miles out in the woods and mud. You are not watching your gages and run out of fuel. You put your parents and yourself in danger. You called the rental company for help, they came, it takes a while to get down the river, since it is no wake, then they had to find you 2 miles out. 60 minutes is not unreasonable. you sound like you are blaming them for you being a knucklehead. It is fine to be a knucklehead, just don't blame others. Sorry, you are getting my frustration of the new boaters in the area. The rules of boating are simple, be safe and courteous. You were neither, ripping the rental company because you put yourself and your parents in harms way. I am a customer of the marina and have nothing but good things to say about George and Erich. They have done a great job bringing the marina to what it is today. read more

Don't ever try to plan a function here. They offer you the world and then change all the rules at the last minute. The owner and function coordinator are unorganized and not knowledgeable about how to treat people. We never even had our function and it was the worst experience ever. We had to ask for our deposit back because they said they couldn't accommodate us at the last minute. We ended up having our rehearsal dinner somewhere else and they lost out on alot of money and referrals. Even though the view is great I will never go back there again. read more

If their Marina and Restaurant are run anything like their B&B on the property, I'd stay FAR, FAR away! God only knows what goes on "behind the scenes". Read the following and decide for yourself... This was the worst hotel/B&B experience of my life. This B&B should not be in business. My family arrived Friday afternoon at approximately 4:45pm for a 2-night stay in the 4 bedroom B&B they have on the property (we rented all four rooms). This house is immediately across the driveway from the marina. From the outside, the impression one gets is that someone took a very old and not maintained house and slapped some paint on it. After paying the remaining deposit at the Marina across the driveway, we were taken into the house by the "manager". The first insult was to walk in the front door only to find temperature in the house to 92 degrees. No one bothered to turn on the small window AC units in each of the four bedrooms to cool down the house even though guests were checking in. To add insult to injury, none of the 4 AC units even fit in the windows. In each case, there was a 3 to 4 inch gap below each unit open to the outside. We had to stuff towels around each unit to help bring the temperature down. The second shock we found was that 3 of the bedrooms had not been cleaned from the prior guests. Here it is now 5pm (check-in time is 3pm), and the sheets and bathrooms were all dirty. Third, one of the window panes in one of the bedrooms was missing so we had to close the storm window to prevent the heat from getting in the at the AC getting out. Fourth, the bathroom attached to my room had chipping paint. I'm glad we did not have children with us. Also, the shower curtains were ripped and the ceiling was so low that anyone over 5'8" would have to lean over to take a shower. Plus the shower curtains were so long that the bottoms laid on the shower floor and you had to be careful not to step on them otherwise you would slip and fall. Fifth, the rooms did not have smoke/co2 alarms. Sixth, the first/main floor had no hot water and the hot water on the second floor was minimal. Seventh, when I closed the bathroom door in one of the bedrooms so that the AC could cool the room first, the door locked from the inside. One of the maintenance guys had to climb through the window to open it (you can't make this stuff up). Eighth, there are NO LOCKS on the doors. We were provided with no keys. When we inquired, the staff looked at us like we were crazy. There is a bar that is open until 11pm at the Marina just across the parking lot and management couldn't understand why we were asking about keys! Ninth, leaking pipes in the "Livingroom". Tenth, no daily housekeeping, fresh sheets or towels. Eleven, one member of the staff was running a gas powered landscaping "blower" in the parking low at 6am the next morning and woke up the entire house (I laugh at the absurdity of this as I write, as I said earlier you can't make this stuff up, entire experience was such a joke!). And I will stop at number twelve with what management at this fine establishment considered "breakfast". We were asked by the manager what time we wanted breakfast. I said 8am and we were not asked what we wanted. Breakfast wasn't served until 9am and consisted of cold scrambled eggs and very fatty bacon delivered from the marina in "take-out" boxes and placed on the 2 outdoor tables. Some of us were lucky to get coffee and only if we asked. I can't speak to the staff's knowledge about running a marina but I can tell you the owner and staff haven't the slightest clue on how to run a Bed & Breakfast. read more

Went to Roht Marine on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. My wife and the other couple all ordered the whole clam plate. Best clams they've had in many a year!. As for me, not being big on seafood, I ordered the Hot pastrami sandwich. What arrived at the table was a sandwich with two thin slices of ham and a piece of American cheese between two pieces of whole wheat bread. I questioned our server and the kitchen and was advised that, despite all appearances, this was not a ham sandwich, but the Roht Marine hot pastrami sandwich. I guess this is a seafood restaurant and not a deli. In summation, don't get the "pastrami". Seafood is great though. read more

Out-of-staters beware! My college girlfriends came down to visit and we came here to get a drink in the afternoon on a Saturday. The bartenders were young, and asked to check IDs and my friends obliged. After seeing that 3 of them were from out of state, they demanded seeing additional forms of identification with photos and birthdates. My friends had credit cards, among other forms but not all of them had photos. They refused to serve us. We asked to speak to the manager, but the bartenders carried the IDs up to the main house themselves, instead of the manager coming down to speak with us directly. In the end, they refused to serve us, and I was too fed up to even continue the argument. I used to come here a lot in the summers, but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Seems like poor management and another situation where customers were just not respected. The area is a popular vacation spot for tourists, and refusing to serve a group who had multiple forms of identification seemed excessive. This turned me off from returning to this restaurant- plenty of other fun bars and restaurants in the area! read more

'Erich' cares more about a customer buying a $6 clam roll than a customer who paid him $2k to dock their boat there. It's an absolute mess trying to unload your boat on Saturday/Sunday afternoon. Parking is horrible. 'Erich' is so far over his head and has too many things going on at once. Very dissatisfied with the overall service and management. I have seen 'Erich' scream at the staff and dissatisfied customers on several occasions. Ive been stuck waiting for a taxi for over 45 minutes multiple time which is completely unacceptable. The best kept secret in Marshfield! (Not for long). Not only can you come to Roht Marine to launch your boat into the North River for am inexpensive daily rate, but you can rent one of their boats, in many sizes for a day on the water. They have little, easy to use skiffs all the way up to a party pontoon boat. Head to the "Spit" for a half or full day of stress free fun on a beautiful beach. When you return, treat yourself to some of the best seafood on their deck....fried clams, scallops, fish n chips! They even sell turkey sandwiches complete with cran and stuffing! Top it off with a frappe or ice cream for the kids while you visit the new bar and grab beer wine or a signature "spit", the best fruity rum drink around! Oh, and did I mention the beautiful deck over the North River with spectacular views? Best riverside sunset. I swear I don't even work at this place....I just live in Marshfield and psyched it's only two miles from my house...our new family favorite !! read more
