Beautiful views!! The dockside dining is so much fun ... watching the boats and the water Oh and the food is fresh and delicious. The fried food is in fresh oil not the usually over used heavy tasting oil. This way it enhances your food making it light and sweet tasting. Have not had fried whole clams in ages. Was SO looking forward to eating them at a beautiful waterside view. The clams were just horrible. I don't know what they put in the batter and can't really describe the taste but just revolting. Also, needed to have a magnifying glass to find decent sized belly. Temperature was lukewarm. So I enjoyed my cole slaw and French fries for $28.... On the plus side, they have Prosecco on tap and cup filled to the top. Clearly I do not recommend. For us, this is a small spot to stop for a drink. Table service out on the deck or in the bar (when allowed). The food here is very basic, burgers, dogs, sandwiches. The staff are young and friendly. The tables and chairs are plastic. Serve wear plastic, and paper, including drinkware. It's the fresh air, the sun, the breeze off the water that you come here for. There is a dock for those who have their boats moored here, and a launch to get you to and from the mooring. They also have fuel for your boat here. I can not speak to any of those services. Parking is a dirt lot and parking attendants are always at hand to direct traffic. Rest rooms are accessed from outdoors, or when open, through the bar. This is a very low key location. If you are looking for a 'yacht club' vibe, you won't find that here. If you want a beer or other beve out on the deck, overlooking the water, it's a very laid back option. read more

Well it's fun but today the scallops were smelly and gross. For $26 we threw most of them in the trash. Spent a fortune and left. Went to another local establishment since we were hungry Idk. We won't be back. The kids who work here are super nice and hard working. I hope they're getting good tips It's a shame. They could kill it if they really tried. The owners that is. This is a very nice place for a drink and a bite to eat. The food is average but the view is absolutely beautiful. One big complaint is that everything is served on plastic and there is no recycling. Plastic bottles, drink cans, cups, ketchup containers with lids, salt containers with lids, everything is thrown directly into the trash. It seems ironic for such a beautiful place so connected to the environment to be treating it with such disregard. All of the young people working there are learning that it's ok to fill our landfills with plastic. read more

We Had rented a pontoon a few weeks ago with my family. What an absolute disaster. Not only did they charge us full price of $500.00 for a boat that was in deplorable condition. Every seat had a rips in it. It was absolutely dirty. I had to use my towel to sit anywhere. The canopy was missing. We couldn't the ladder due it not being secured safely and screws were missing off of it. A piece of the dash area fell off while my husband was driving it. The Manager wasn't there at the time. We have tried to reach him and no response. What a waste of money. We will never rent a boat from ROHT Marine. They should be ashamed of what they're renting out to people. DO NOT RENT A BOAT FROM ROHT MARINE We rented a boat. Got no info on the safety equipment (fire extinguisher, life vests), and no info on boundaries or where to go / stay away from. Long story short, Coast Guard boarded our boat. We couldn't find fire extinguisher or registration. They made us bring the boat back to Roht. No refund. No apology. Just a $68 gas bill. And yelled at by the lame-ass kid Charlie who rented us the boat that we didn't read the agreement where it tells you not to go into the ocean. I was originally one of Roht's supporters and stood up at town hall to support his business license. I thought he did a good job improving the property and was happy to have the improvements. That was years ago when he first took over. Since that time things have gone progressively downhill. The docks are in horrendous shape, actually dangerous and when I reported it numerous times it was ignored until I physically took the dock board in and handed it to them. They simply nailed it down as warped as it was. Each year it's an ongoing problem. This last year in July, halfway through the season, I got a call saying my 20' Grady overnighter 20 was now going to be billed at 27' because of the engine and pulpit. First time in 15 years that ever came up. Not only that, he demanded an additional $1200 be paid that day or I would be removed from my dock. I paid and wish I hadn't. So yesterday I went to pull our boat for the season as a lovely sign says if it's not out by 10/15 and additional $4 per foot per day would be charged. Ok I get it. So I go to pull my boat with the trailer on my truck and his food truck is once again parked blocking the area to maneuver the trailer to the launch area. Eric happened to be there and I waited to speak with him and asked politely if he could move the truck so we could pull out our boat. He flat out refused and told us to back the truck and trailer all the way back up the hill, around and endangering maybe 20 of his patrons cars, and back it down again, a difficult and risky maneuver. We did it thanks to my husbands trailer skills only to be told I was a problem and he would not renew our space next year. Good riddance. I advise anyone and everyone to avoid doing business with this man who has zero regard for anyone. Erik has refused to address any negative issues. Run don't walk, don't stand in line for expensive cocktails and bad food. read more

Honestly I would give zero stars if I could. This place was an absolute catastrophe. The "servers" were a bunch of teenagers running around, none of which had the slightest clue what was going on. No hint of management anywhere. It took over 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive, which were poorly made and mine in fact had a bug in it. We overheard a man at the table next to us literally bribe the waitress to get their drinks come out faster because the service was so slow all around. We observed several health hazards including no reinforcement of wearing masks and we watched several tables come and go with no one wiping down the tables. Came here a few times over the years. The food is good but the portion sizes have decreased over the years. They try to make up for this by putting more fries on the plate. When I went today, the fries were a but soggy. It should be anticipated the factors that come with the environment eating on the dock: weather, wind, bugs, etc. should not shock people. I would NOT recommend this place for anything. I've never met a more completely disrespectful staff and untrained manager. Threatening notions made by staff to myself and others in our group caused an absolutely ridiculous scene all over a door that was already broken prior to departure. This rented pontoon was absolutely pitiful for the $600+ spent. Staff refused to talk and explain process or show in the contract were it states we were liable for an already dilapidated broken part which was pointed out to the morning shift when we picked the boat up. Threats of calling the cops and having the cops come all over $60 for a door in which they are just gonna take screws and secure it back into place, lost this owner thousands from myself, friends, family and guarantee others we know in the future. We planned to stay and spend well over $500 with the couples we were with but, obviously couldn't believe the way this situation was handled and wasn't going to entertain giving anymore money to anything to do with this place. The boat we took out was unloaded and immediately taken back out without look over, wipe down or proper sanitation. The best part is I pointed out the boat door before it left to the new renters to for-warn them and if I hadn't none of this would have even happened. Roht has one of the best deck setting for sunset in the south shore. Great vibes, reggae music and slow living, really cool place to unwind on the water, minimal but perfectly so, just grab a drink and relax on the deck So why 2 stars you ask? Unfortunately Roht is 2 parts, bar/food (with limited menu, fried fish plate etc) and boat rental service. It is the latter where they fail gloriously If you are planning to rent a boat from Roht, caution caution caution. It may be ready for you during the time and day you scheduled it for...and they may cancel it 2 days ahead of the event...are you willing to roll the dice?? Unfortunately there are no guarantees with Rhot and the boat service is run by a cluster of high school kids without management or oversight. Boats are pretty dated and not well maintained, but again, that assumes you can actually book one as there is little organization or professionalism. If you do book one, they may decide to cancel your trip without warning. This happened just last weekend. If the owners can get their act together wrt boat service, I would re-rate as a 4, but for now, I strongly caution anyone considering this "service" out of Roht - good for a drink but not much else, which is sad given the opportunity & dock that exists for exactly this purpose read more

What a delight! I went to Roht Marine recently for breakfast and had the most wonderful experience. The day I went it was very windy and cold so the place was empty. After figuring it would be too cold i checked out the bar to see if it would be warmer. It would have been but the music was too loud for me so decided to carch breakfast there some other time. on route to the car a gentleman came out to see why we were not staying. When I told him why and he introduced himself as the owner and said come on back! We did so and not only did he turn down the music in the bar but he had is staff bring a table in for us So we wouldn't have to dine at bar. It didn't stop there though as he proceeded to make us a fire in the wood buring stove. The food was outstanding and his pride of ownership shined though with with this level of hospitality. They always have a beautiful canopied pontoon boat parked at the marina leading you to think, that maybe that's the boat you may be getting, but no, that pontoon boat is privately owned, and you will be getting a piece of crap. I should have known that on the day I was booking the boat, there was a woman who was profusely complaining about the condition of the boat and wanted a refund which she did not get, the manager was nowhere to be found. A great time at Roht Marine! My husband & I were visiting friends and stayed here 3 nights, over Labor Day weekend. Erich was an extremely gracious host - he met us after midnight on our arrival date, as we were late arriving, due to traffic. The next morning he was up, ready to make us breakfast! I happened to be on back-to-back conference calls one day, missed breakfast, so Erich offered a choice of lunch items from the marina menu (no charge). We also rented a small boat over at the marina and sampled drinks/snacks. Perfect fare for a marina - the kids working there were all very polite & hardworking. The fried clams are just amazing...imagine steamers with a touch of very lightly breaded, lightly fried batter. Very delicate, super fresh. I've also sampled the fried fish, I think it was haddock, also very lightly fried. You get your drink at the tiny bar which has a couple indoor seats, then order your food and they bring it to you. After hearing about this new Marshfield "Hot Spot", my husband and I stopped for lunch on a Saturday afternoon at 11:45 am. Since it was not really a good boating day we were able to avoid the typical lunch rush. There were only a three tables occupied and 4 people in line when we arrived. We waited in line for 10 minutes to place our order. We ordered the Baked Stuffed Haddock ($15), Mixed Green Salad with Lobster ($19) and Spicy Shrimp Flatbread ($15). After 45 minutes, the Baked Stuffed Haddock was brought to the table. My husband was disappointed with the small portion served, but it was tasty and served with a fresh green salad. After 50 minutes, the Mixed Green Salad with Lobster was delivered. The mixed greens were very fresh and the lobster salad was good. However, for the price I would have expected a little more lobster. After 65 minutes, the Spicy Shrimp Flatbread was served. This was by far the biggest disappointment. It was really a rectangular buffalo shrimp pizza, meaning it was doused with a buffalo sauce, had 12 very small shrimp, was not fully cooked. The cheese wasn't even fully melted. While the crust would have been good if it had been fully cooked, it is not technically a flatbread, as it contained yeast. Overall Impression: Service - The service was very slow. We arrived at 11:45 am and were served the final portion of our meal at 1:15. Each piece of the order came out one at a time. I would have expected the lobster salad to be delivered with the broiled fish. Food - Aside from the pizza, the food we were serve was tasty. Portions of what we ordered were small for the price. I would say that the fried items looked like the portions may have been larger. Bar - We did not have a beverage from the bar. But the cocktails looked good. Atmosphere - It is nice being on the water, but the deck is small and the tables are packed in tight. If you go on a beautiful sunny day, I would expect the wait would be very long. Back in the day this was "Mary's", on a recent trip noticed that the place has had a lot of attention. It is a cool place to sit and watch activities on the river while having a beer or two. They have live music, plenty of parking. We rented a 15' whaler and cruised up the river and then down to the Spit (no wake!). Really excellent time. read more

I would not recommend this business to anyone. I am a lifetime resident of the south shore and have frequented Roht many many summers throughout the past 4 years. I can honestly say it is sad how downhill this business has gone. Our most recent experience was the icing on the cake. We decided to rent a pontoon with many other couples, for a day out on the spit and river. When we showed up, the boat was an absolute disgrace. Ripped cushions, broken door, zero functioning gauges, dents, ect ect the list goes on. Regardless we took the boat out after paying $600+ dollars and had a fun day. When we returned to the dock, we returned the boat and commented on how the door was completely knocked off its screws when we opened it to get off the boat - the teenage boys "running" the dock began to blame us and responded by telling us to never rent from them again ( which we would not regardless ) we were APPAULED to say the least - to be so disrespected by a staff member, i can not even believe how rude these kids were. We asked to speak to manager who was off that day - but then called and said we were responsible for the door!!! To say i am shocked is an understatement. After looking past how disgusting this boat was and renting anyways, i would never give this business money again. BEWARE. read more
