They do definitely cater for more mature customers from their styles (kitten heals and navy sensible work shoes with a half inch heel) and colours. Their stock is also a pretty good range and they seem to have a good variety of sizes, or are at least willing to investigate the possibility of ordering them in (very unusual in this day and age). However, despite all of the above and how nice the staff are I can't help but feel that this shop doesn't sit right. It is for older customers, but it's still trying to straddle the style and fashion side of things. Most importantly, their shoes don't look that comfortable and - going by the leather - a bit overpriced. Though, I'm more than willing to put my reservations down to having had three years plus of very good shoe training (it was an old school independently run and owned shop - you get the idea...). Hence, to the average customer or window shopper - who is the over side of forty - this place is decent enough and an usual find in the immediate local area. So, worth a quiet afternoon browse.

This shop seems to be pretty new (I'd never noticed it before!) and it sells a big range of second-hand kids stuff. On the basis that I thought the clothes etc were new when I visited, it goes to show the stuff looks really nice and is well presented. There's also toys, and an area selling super cheap new basics as well. I wasn't in to buy anything myself (wait til I get a dog and then I'll be back to buy baby rompers for it) but prices were super cheap and the staff were nice, so 4 stars is it.

You know what you're getting with New Look - cheap fashion which is pretty trend-orientated and aimed at teens/early 20s. On this visit I was looking for a dress and actually struggled to find anything that I liked - maybe dresses aren't in fashion just now? In the end I found one which was a decent price (under £20) and they had the full range of sizes. Service was fine, friendly and helpful. Of all the shops at The Avenue this is the one I'm most likely to shop in for fashion/accessories, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here.

They have womans wear, kids wear, menswear, home wares, shoes, cosmetics and gadgets galore. I usually pop in the go to ladies wear which is on the first floor. They have concessions of Miss Sixty, Miss Selfridge, Kurt Geiger and many more. They stock Debenhams own ranges such as Red Herring where I have seen a few really pretty formal dresses at very reasonable prices indeed, they also come in an extensive range of size starting from size 6. Debenhams have recently started an advantage card that works similar to that of Boots but you can only use it on cosmetics. It's called the Beauty Club Reward Card and for every £1 you spend on beauty you get 1 point, once you spend over £25 you get 3 points per £1. When you get 500 points you get a £5 gift voucher. It may take you a while to build up your points but I guess it's better than nothing and like the Boots Advantage Card the points don't expire so you can build them up.

This is a slightly odd business, over the past three years I've been living round the corner from…read moreit and have never witnessed anyone coming in or out of it. Yet, it's still open and seemingly having regular stock turnaround. The stock consists of a strange mix of older male and female clothing as well as some cheap (and some nasty) ladies shoes from time to time. In saying this, the prices do seem reasonable and considering the styles affordable to more mature customers. There's also a selection of costume jewellery, hats, scarfs and the odd handbag too. I certainly haven't bought anything out of it and can't see this happening in the near future. But, it is most definitely for some people and worth a look even to see the strange mix of items. It does have character and is rather endearing in a different kind of way, you know what I mean??
