Even though I have been playing video games since the 80s I am not too knowledgeable when it comes to the new consoles... I was looking for cables the first time I was here and the sales dude was helpful and courteous. They're not as big as other video game stores so their selection is a little limited. They have a printed flyer on the counter saying which games they are looking for as far as trades go, so they must be pretty particular in what they stock on the shelves. Their location at Bloor and Bathurst is ideal for me. It means I don't have to make the trek to Queen West or disgusting malls. Sonic Boom and BMV Books are in the hood but their selection of video games are pretty weak, and I can see why with GameStop as their neighbour. Will definitely make this my go-to location for video games.

Then today I tried to return my new headphones that I bought from them a couple of weeks ago because the microphone had broken. They said I need my receipt to do that despite the fact that they track every single detail about me on their computer they simply cannot remember that time 3 weeks ago when they promised its easy to return just as long as no wires are disconected. The woman who i first showed the headset to tried to break it even more before saying no we cant honor the $15 insurance we sold you and no we wont be replacing it with a new one like we told you we would. Your best bet is to avoid this franchise, they've hired some of the worst phony clearly money grabbing kids I've ever seen.

One of two dvd rental establishments I am aware of in Toronto, I applaud its mission to bring choice to cineastes and to sell physical media to collectors. That's where my admiration ends. This business is run more like a hobby than a serious enterprise. First of all the hours are not posted to my knowledge. There IS an open/closed sign to be fair, but you'll be hard pressed to know when OPEN will be displayed. If you're someone who likes surprise and allowing your shopping efforts to be shaped by serendipity then this is the shop for you. I've attended a few of the Video Store Day sales where hours were posted in advance on social media and was left waiting for the owner to arrive past the indicated opening time. Not much mind you, say 15-20 minutes, but if you're promoting a major sales event, wouldn't it make sense to show up when advertised? Rental selection is pretty good. Lots of obscure gems but the discs I've rented in the past looked like they had been skated on. I rented once and that was it. The store makes an attempt to look cultish and cool, but ends up having that last day of a garage sale vibe. Used discs are strewn in boxes on the floor and in no special order on the shelves. New product is appealing but the owner has taken to not putting prices on the discs. In the past I've paid more than I would have at a competitor's or if I had bought the disc from the production company directly. Again, if you like serendipity its a great experience. What you are paying is always a surprise. On the upside they have a great t-shirt selection if you want to show your allegiance to cult and classic film. Nice designs on quality shirts. You can also find some obscure zines and books that are locally produced and worth the effort of coming by. For new releases or rentals I prefer to shop at their competitor on Bay. This shop could be so much more with a serious attitude to retail.
