I went in for an emergency visit because my crown had come loose and fallen out. I asked the older…read moremale Dentist to glue it back and he refused. He insisted that I needed a root canal on that tooth. Even though he poked around my mouth and I haven't been having any pain he refused to replace my cap. I was there several years ago, at that time he told me I needed to get a root canal on that same tooth or to have the tooth pulled. I made an appointment to get the tooth pulled. At that time the female Dentist asked me why I was having it pulled. I explained to her Dentist told me I had no choice. She told me she could save it and she did. It's been at least six years and I've had no pain. The only problem I have with it at this point is that the crown came loose. But he wasn't happy that the other dentist was able to save my tooth. He wants me to have the root canal at any cost . He also refused to fill the cavity that was next to it until I had this root canal completed, and he saidwould refer a surgeon to me. I expressed to him that I didn't have the money at this time. I asked him again politely to just glue in the crown so I can but a little time until I could save the money for a root canal and which he told me we'd be around $1500 or to have the tooth pulled but that would cost about $3500 because then I would have to have a bridge made fill in the gap of the missing tooth. Again, I explained to him that I live on disability, and I didn't have the money for this at the time and I would have to save up for it unless the surgeon would take payments. Again, he refused cement in the cap or fill the cavity. Then he refused to give me the referral for the surgeon because I didn't have the money he then told me since you can't afford it anyway he would not give me a referral for the surgeons. He cared very little about the health of my teeth. His only concern was this root canal. I'm betting he gets a kickback for all of his referrals otherwise he might have been more accommodating. He's a cranky old man who cares little about his patients and more about the money. He's knows my insurance won't cover it and was unwilling to help me buy a little time to save money for a procedure that I honestly don't believe I need done immediately or at all, There is no pain coming from the tooth or any other immediate need to have the procedure done. All I needed was a Little time to save for the procedure and he absolutely refused to help he wants me to have future damage to the toothache and be in pain just to prove his point!!!I won't ever go back to him or recommend any else to go to him.

I don't like dentists. I didn't take care of my teeth when I was younger, and because of that I…read morehave issues. No/thin enamel, cavities, crowns, crooked teeth, you name it. I've been shamed at the dentist before, and because of that, I have a bit of a phobia. Not one that keeps me from going, but one that makes me SO uncomfortable that my entire body tenses up and I clench my hands together when I'm in the dentist's chair. Going to the Dental Associates - Alsip was the best decision I've ever made. They made me comfortable, did not criticize the state of my teeth, and worked with me to create a plan to address the issues I haven't yet addressed (a couple surface cavities and the need for a bridge). They were kind, and found positive things to say (like that my cleaning routine was working well and I'd chosen the right toothpaste for my teeth (pronamel, btw!). My second visit to them was to fill 3 cavities. Dr. Wren performed this task in 29 minutes flat, and I didn't clench my hands or tense up a single time. He was gentle, kind, and just funny enough to not be obvious (I've had dentists before try to be comedians thinking it'd lighten the mood). If you're nervous to go to the dentist, go here. You'll be happy you did.

Over these many years I have experienced his excellent professional skills, his clear explanations of procedures and treatment options. Before I even stepped foot into his office I read up on as much as I could about him. His education, awards received, article written, and of course I read reviews on web site that I indeed trusted and respected. Guess what? No one exagexaggerated about this gentleman. Excellent listener, Smart, quick witted, Bed side/chair side manner utter perfection. Makes decisions and of course lets you be the captain of your own mouth. Now mind you I was there for a consultation only. I love my current dentist, however there comes a time when one has to change up to see other options that can be suggested for my situation. The office is beautifully designed with the proper COVID protocals in place which is also comforting. I am just very happy to know that I have found a dentist like Dr. Sampalis and Associates. Last be not least the staff top notch. Friendly staff but specail shout outs to Donna, you are awesome along with the Dental Hygienist. I will never look downtown to those dentist when I know that right in the backyard on the SW side lies a place for your smile(oral health) to call home. Stay tuned for more reviews..!
