Woohoo, suck it underagers! *No wait when we went, about 8:30 on a Saturday, we walked right in *Some very entertaining actors *Good length, maybe 10-15 minutes to go through *Nice waiting area, but nothing to do - oh right, they sell beer now, did I mention that? Bad: *Most of the scares consist of someone jumping out at you. Boring and predictable after awhile. *Pretty standard rooms, themes, etc. Again, somewhat ho-hum *Massive amounts of law enforcement. Don't even think about chugging some beers in the parking lot beforehand. They pay attention to all of the little details, and never repeat their setup from one year to the next. I recommend this haunted house to anyone who wants a good scare. They some how have been able to hone in on what freaks me out the most...eh hem...dark mazes that you need to push your way through...I can't handle it! I had a damn near panic attack last year when I went. So while I am very nervous to attend again this year the sadist in me has already grabbed my car keys and pulled around to the front of my house. The theme for this year is "Dead Man's Party" and it's done amazingly well. There's a rowdy skeleton bar, a skeleton puking in a toilet, skeleton hippies smoking a bong, swinger skeletons in a hot tub and more! There's no cost to stop and check it out but there is a lockbox if you want to leave a donation. It's a busy highway so be careful! Two thumbs up to the folks who put this up - it's SUPER impressive and well worth a pretty drive!

The acoustics are suited for the performance venue, and this facility plays host to many local organizations. A theatre group, the Hartford Players, the Hartford City Band, and the Hartford Community Chorus. The Ruth A Knoll theatre is a fantastic place to take in a show on the weekend. Pike's peak plays host to local art n showcase as well as a banquet hall that is available for events and weddings. Good friends of ours were married here. I was truly impressed. A great venue for a wedding and easily transferred the event upstairs for the reception. To summarize, the theater is top notch, the shows are nationally recognized acts, and for the value, this is a great venue.

Last night I attended Broadway Rox at The Schauer Center with some friends. What a great show!…read more It's amazing to see that level of talent in little Hartford, WI. The performers sang songs from many of the top broadway shows from over the last 20 or 30 years. Most of them were from very recent shows like Wicked, American Idiot, and Rent. I have attended other music and theatre performances at The Schauer Center and have always been impressed with the quality talent that they bring in. Other favorites were Late Night Catechism, To Kill A Mockingbird, and Chapter 6 an a cappella singing group. The facility itself is really cool. They did such a nice job turing an old building into an arts center, while preserving the history and look of the building. One of my best friends had their wedding reception at The Schauer Center and we all had a great time. It's such a cool building to have a wedding in.

My kiddos are 2 and 4, and we also went with some cousins who range ages 7-10. The takeaway: this place is nice for all ages. My first impression was how well-kept Kelley's is! For being a farmstead, you'd assume the space to be a bit more untidy/dirty, but they do a fantastic job. We entered into the initial barn where we found a bunch of baby farm animals! There were plenty of staff members about helping kids take turns holding animals if they chose to. Oh and there is a big hand-wash station, which is of course appreciated. As we wandered on to the next space, we found tons of outdoor yard-like games and activities - everything from hula-hoop'ing horses and duck tik-tac-toe, to outdoor bowling lanes and ride-on trikes. Safe to say our kids were stoked! Another bonus: the huge corn pit. It was so busy while we were there, but it's big enough that there was still tons of space for kids to all play at once. It was filled with toys, trucks, and buckets too. The best kind of sensory overload. We then wandered into the next/lower barn, and to our surprise: tons more animals to interact with! Cute chickitties, little pigs & mama pigs, goats, chickens, the list goes on. It was kind of a shock how well-mannered all the animals, meaning at no point did it feel unsafe to interact with them. Overall a wonderful day out a Kelley's Farmstead. I definitely recommend checking it out and supporting the nice family that owns and runs the place!

We were expecting to go outside in the back and see pumpkins and corn stocks or maybe some types of fall festive activities. There was nothing. They did have some pumpkins on the grass. That you could purchase. But that was about it. We didn't stay to try the wines, because we weren't expecting just to sit into a wine tasting. So I can't speak to their wines. There were a few people in there, enjoying their wine flights. To be fair, I would try Aspen sky again and just expect to have a wine tasting! The inside was very lovely though. They had a fire pit out in the back and some picnic tables with umbrellas. It looked like it would be cozy on a chilly fall night .

I had only been to two other raceways in my entire life, until July 10th, 2018, when I went to…read moreSlinger Speedway at the behest of a friend who is a racing buff. On that particular night, an annual racing event was taking place, the 39th Annual SUPERSEAL Slinger Nationals, a 200 lap Super Late Model race. As a quarter mile asphalt oval, the track is amazingly tiny. It takes only about eleven or twelve seconds for the cars to go one lap. (Take a look at my video). It is apparent, if you've done any type of tactical driving, that the skill level of the drivers is amazing. There were several heats prior to the main race and we saw only one minor accident. It's amazing because the speed and tight turns of the track calls for pin-point accuracy, especially considering the cars are merely inches OR LESS from each other during a race. The seating facility itself is old and worn out with bench seating, only. The spaces between the seats are VERY tight and if someone decides to attach a portable stadium seat chair, only a child could sit behind it and, at that, their knees would be crammed up. Additionally, I'm afraid that if an adult has a hard time walking or keeping their balance, the steep angle of the seating area is actually dangerous. The benches are NOT installed in stepped tiers; they are installed on angle to the hillside, only. Parking is available all around the raceway facility in empty lots and facilitated by parking attendants who direct you where to park. Parking is free. I noticed a lot of people eating popcorn, hotdogs, hamburgers and drinking beer, but I did not partake in any food or drink items while there. The race was a kick-in-the-ass. I really enjoyed it. For anyone who has never experienced a professional car race venue, this is the place to go.

Hell, there are even 12-year-old drivers - how can you not want to cheer them on and support their dreams. Matt Kenseth began his racing career at Slinger and he typically still races there once a year, usually against someone like Kyle Busch. The facility certainly isn't handicap friendly. I've seen wheelchairs, but I always wonder what poor soul had to push the wheelchair up the super steep incline to the seating area. That being said, there's always a good variety of food from hot dogs and icees to nachos and candy. In the past, there has been beer and Mike's Hard Lemonade for sale but, during my last visit (summer 2015), they were only selling beer. Most recently tickets were $10 and parking is free. I feel like Slinger is a pretty good deal all round. We bought my son earmuffs this summer because it was too loud for him and I still think the entire evening was less than $40 for three people. There's usually fireworks and there's often fun things like tricycle races for the kids on the track. Go to Slinger if you've never been! You'll have a blast!
