It's easier to keep an eye on your kids and the park is never over crowded. My son loves bringing his trucks into the sand area and I can sit and relax right next to him on the benches. There are restrooms right next to the playground/baseball fields. The walking trails are wide enough for multiple people to be walking, running and biking without bumping into each other- unlike highland. Overall great place and wish there were more like it in Baton Rouge.

There is even a playground structure and a waterworks play area! Yes, plenty of fun for the kiddos! This park brings back many memories for me, since it was the first park that my daughter played t-ball at, yes, so cute, right? I have seen softball and baseball tournaments happen here for both the kiddos and adults. The park is fairly large and even large enough do several laps around the perimeter of it and your work out - done! If you visit the park right before school gets out, you may encounter the carpool pick-up for the elementary school across the street. Planning a kids birthday party? They have the perfect spot for it, which has a covered area that comes with the concessions area (you can use to store food, etc), plus there is plenty of ice! The rental charge is peanuts, plus you can decorate and use time is fairly lengthy.

Now I don't have and kids but I do have 5 nephews so at least once a week I get suckered with the "you are going to see us play aren't your Uncle Clay" card. The fields all have bleachers and most are covered and have fans so it is not a bad way to spend an evening. The concession stand has a the normal variety of sodas, water, candy, pretzels, giant pickles and peanuts but oddly enough no cracker jack. Overall its a great place for kids to play America's favorite past time Soooo. Take me out to the ball game.....it's one, two three strikes your at the old ball game!

But the best thing about this park, I've learned recently is how safe I feel here. I walk for exercise and I always see officers riding thru the park. At least one or two an hour. I walk at the crack of dawn and sometimes at dusk, and there's still someone riding thru. The park is well kept and huge.

This is a small park located on the way to the Alexandria Airport. The park is well maintained and has five aircraft don display that contributed to the defense of our country. They all have the appearance that they are flying. You can even see the pilots. Each plane was said to be operated from the old England AFB and they each have placards that identify them and explain their significance. Some of the aircraft on display include the Republic F-84F Thunderstreak, the North American F-86 Sabre, the Republic F-105 Thunderchief, the Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II and the LTV Aerospace Vought A-7D Corsair II The park has a small water fountain/waterfall and some flag poles. The planes and poles are well illuminated at night. This is a nice park, but I do not see spending much time here or making it a destination stop. It would surely make a nice stop if you are on your way to the airport and have a few extra minutes to check it out.

We have lived very close to this park for a little over 4 years now, but we do not utilize it very…read moremuch mainly because of the playground equipment that needs serious attention. I have sent feedback to BREC regarding the following issues and hope to hear back soon: -broken sections on the plastic rock steps on the larger playground equipment which pose risk for getting cut since the pieces are sharp -exposed rusted metal on the smaller playground area steps, the rubber coating is degraded on the side rails which is exactly where little hands would be grabbing as one tries to climb -no restroom facilities outside of business hours which are 4:30-8:00PM Aside from these issues which would only affect those of us with small children, this park is a pretty nice park with some great facilities and space. The gravel lot is pretty well maintained, there are ample trash bins located near picnic tables and playground. There are plenty of benches and a few picnic tables, 2 under the covered pavillion, 2 in the shade of the trees next to baseball field. The playground is a good size with everything one would want for kids to play on. There is a basketball court and a tennis court--both could use a pressure wash and while the basketball net appears fairly new and in good condition, the tennis net is sagging a bit (still totally fine to play on) and both are shaded quite a bit in the mornings which is great for our hotter temperature months. There is also an open field beyond the playground and tennis courts which is a fun area for a picnic or to let the kids run lose, they always keep the grass cut. All in all, this is a pretty good park and once the repairs/updates are done on the playground equipment, it would be a great park overall and we would utilize it more. I would really like to see restroom facilities added as well though.
