Finally I've found a shoe "doctor" that knows his trade and is in it because of his passion (and does it at a very reasonable price).
Like the first reviewer, I found Mr Minit in Broadway Centre a rip off and provider of inferior service. Every time.
A colleague suggested I try Roger. And now I feel like I've just won lotto.
On my previous visits, his son Nathan served me - a lovely young gentleman offering the same great customer service his father is well-renowned for.
Today, I finally met Roger. And what a pleasure that has been.
As a female, I disagree about him being charming/flattering (in an flirting way). He is a sincere gentleman who speaks from the heart and is passionate about his trade and his customers. Actually, it's not just about his customers, Roger loves people and treats them kindly. Full stop. We could all take a lesson from him.
I digress, let me get back to the workmanship. Roger (and team) treat your shoes as they would treat their own. That is their quality control benchmark (and what makes them superior to many other shoe repairs outlets). They perform shoe miracles. And then there are the prices - these haven't changed in 10 years! This combination of quality workmanship, low prices and great customer service results in Roger being busy 7 days a week for 10+ years (I didn't ask how long he has been in business, but from the price discussion we had, I know it's more than 10 years).
I've had a few pairs of shoes and boots resoled. Never paid more than $30. For my RM Williams boots, the quoted price was reduced to $25 as they weren't able to do the stitching on the replacement rubber soles (and that's a large sole). Another time, he replaced the soles and rescued the leather on the heels of a pair of hand-made shoes (damaged by getting stuck in-between the city's loose brickwork) and only charged $30. The shoes look great and the price is low. And having a lovely chat with Roger was priceless.
When I collected my first shoe repair, I sat on the couch to put them on. While sitting there, there were 2 instances of passers-by telling their companions that this was the only place to go to for shoe repairs. Too true.
His shop is a little out of my way, but hey, when you get good workmanship at a very affordable price, mixed with great customer service, I'm more than willing to make the detour. read more
