I genuinely tried to support Black-owned practices, but at this point, it's no longer about that -- it's about professionalism for me now. The provider herself is extremely rude and unprofessional. She seemed to think she could raise her voice at me without expecting a response -- but I have a voice too. I truly don't understand why some healthcare providers carry themselves as if they'll never need help from others. That kind of arrogant, abrasive attitude is both disappointing and unacceptable. Looking back, I should have left when the previous provider, Ritchie, left. She was a class act. Since then, the office has gone downhill. They expected me to make an in-person visit every time I needed an increase in my Zepbound dosage -- even after being told by the provider herself that follow-ups wouldn't be necessary for that. What shocked me most was that the provider physically put her hands on me to force me out of the office. As someone who was raised to respect my elders -- I am Haitian, and we value that deeply -- I found her behavior completely inappropriate and beyond disrespectful. Honestly, her attitude is probably why her hair won't grow and her face is covered in bumps like a road map -- which I happily used to guide myself to a better doctor's office.

Let me start by saying Dr. Chirinos's office staff was wonderful, super friendly, answered all my…read morebilling questions, returned my calls promptly, and helped me set up my appointment very easily. Dr. Chirinos himself was a very friendly older man, he took the time to look over my medical history that I had brought with me, he asked me questions to get a better idea of what was going on, and spent a lot of time explaining the many things that it could be. He did everything you'd want a doctor to do. So why the 3 stars you ask?! Well here's why: 1.) My wait time was a lot longer than I expected (like 45 mins) considering I was the only person in the office when I arrived that morning, and they took someone else (who arrived after me) in before me, that drives me absolutely crazy. I could see if the person was going through something serious, but from the convo we had while he had his 5 minute wait, he seemed perfectly fine to me. Just saying... 2.) Although Dr. Chirinos did take the time to answer and ask questions, at the end he suggest I get a procedure Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), where he would look around in my tummy to see what was going on, maybe even take some samples to test as well. Sounds good right??? That's what I thought too..until I found out how much this "simple" procedure costs. Let's just say I have a deductible to meet and I would've have been paying a lot out of pocket, not exactly $ I have lying around. To the credit of Dr. Chirinos, my insurance plan isn't his responsibility. I get that. What I didn't like was that when I asked if there were alternative testing we could try, or even alternative medicine I could test out before going through with this, I got a polite N-O and was told to call back when I could afford the procedure... Now I'm no doctor, but as a medical professional whose specializes in GI issues, I would have at least expected to be given 1 or 2 other options besides the EGD. Is that too much to ask?! Me thinks not! Either way, I will most likely be going to see another specialist before coming back here, If they all try to give me the same story, I will come back and let you know. If you don't see an update to this post, let that be your answer. The moral of this story: If you have the $$$ to do expensive procedures Dr. Chirinos is your man, if you need other more budget friendly options first before jumping in head-first, you may want to look elsewhere.

Eventually I get a phone call from my case manager saying I need to stop texting the paramedic that she made the call because of what he said. I asked her why she told them lies to which she replied she didn't say those things. Well, the lady read from a paper and I highly believe she didn't make it up. Then I changed drs and insurance companies effective October first. Once the office found out they refused treatment. I developed a sore from being bedridden. Reached out for some help and was told I had a new dr. My old insurance company and Dr was in place till midnight September 30. I didn't feel like driving that far, so I pulled up my insurance and tried to find someone local. Dr. Rand seemed like the best bet.... The office location is in a medical park. Upon walking in, I was immediately turned off. There was no AC, reeked of mold, and looked like it hadn't been updated for about 30 years. I had to wait about 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment, because he doesn't have computers, so the assistant had to call my insurance..... but guess what? It is on the other side of the US, so they weren't open yet. She contacted them somehow, but god the wrong information and was trying to tell me my appointment would be over $200. When I was finally called back by the doctor, the office was in a cluster. Their was stuff and paperwork everywhere, and it just looked dirty. Even the exam rooms looked dirty.
