On November 10, 2016, I met with Gwendolyn from Roeber's at my home to discuss window treatment options. I paid Gwen $65 then for the consultation. She informed me that next steps were to pick out my fabric and we can proceed from there.
On December 17, 2016, I went into the Roeber's store to discuss what we had decided to have done to our windows. I informed them that I would like plantation shutters with one window having only half plantation shutters and half café shades. I selected my fabric for the shades then and paid $364.16 for the fabric. I was then informed by Chrissy that I will be receiving a call from their shutter folks to schedule a measurement and estimate.
I met with the shutter folks and agreed upon their estimate. I was then told that I will get a call in a few weeks to schedule installation to include my shades with Roeber's.
January 17, 2017, I received a call from Roeber's that my shades were complete and payment was required. I paid 50% of the total equaling $730.50 with the remainder to be paid upon installation.
I then receive my call from the shutter company informing me of an installation date of February 2, 2017. This was coordinated with Roeber's and scheduled from 10am-12pm that day.
February 1, 2017, I receive a message in the morning from Chrissy at Roeber's. She then called back that afternoon as I had not had a chance to call her back to that point.
Chrissy informed me that their installer had injured himself and that they would not be able to install the shades until the following week. I told her that was fine but that she needed to inform the shutter folks and coordinate installation together. She replied, "Well, what if they cannot do it then; I don't know that they have availability." I told her that she would need to call to find that out. She then says, "Well, I don't understand why you can't just wait a week to have the shades installed." I told her that I did not want to leave any of my windows uncovered for a week or so and would prefer that the entire job happen at the same time. She continued to argue with me as if calling the company that she contracted my job out to was out of her job realm. She hung up saying "I will be in touch."
Two hours later, my husband called to speak with Chrissy for an update. She first acted as if she had no idea to what he was referring. Then began arguing with him as well. Thinking she hung up the phone, she starts talking with Steve Roeber, the owner. The conversation my husband heard was this-
Steve: Wow, he's crazy
Chrissy: You should hear his wife.
My husband then yelled that he could hear them and informed them then that we will no longer be doing business with Roeber's and that we would like our money reimbursed. They then hung up. My husband tried calling them back but they did not answer. We will not do business with Roeber's...ever. read more
