He helps patients set goals to improve their health and follows up on problems and goals each visit. Dr. George is very knowledgeable in internal medicine. He is also trained in pulmonary medicine. His knowledge and experience make him a excellent diagnostician. When required he prescribes tests to fully analyze an illness or condition, and integrates this information into effective treatment. He is very thoughtful and knowledgeable about the use of medication both for acute and chronic conditions. Dr. George is friendly and also has a sense of humor. In addition he is very open to constructive criticism of the operations of the practice, Valley Internal Medicine Associates (VIMA). Dr. George maintains and uses detailed electronic medical records. He is also very responsive to communications submitted via the practice's web portal. Dr. George is one of three physicians that operate the practice as a corporation. Dr. George is very supportive of the practice's goal to provide a broad set of medical services to adults. This allows immediate use of laboratory tests, x-rays, and the other diagnostic tools within a single visit to the office. Not happy. I had a telehealth visit with my PA Edgar Garcia on Friday regarding blood work. He was…read moresending my prescription into my regular pharmacy however I told him they were closed over the weekend. He informed me I needed the medicine before then and what other pharmacy I would like. I told him Walmart Pharmacy in Edinburg off of 281. i hadn't heard anything else from Mr. Garcia or the pharmacy. On Saturday I called the pharmacy to see if the prescription was ready. The pharmacist proceeded to tell me that he tried calling the doctors office because the prescroption is not covered by my insurance. The out of pocket cost was going to be over 500 dollars. He said if we could call the office as well to help out. Well it's a Saturday and they aren't open so I had to call the answering service. In this case they only send the messages through to the on call doctors if it's a life or death situation or what they consider a medical emergency. Well my case is a medical emergency since my potassium is at a 6 and it needed to be lowered. The answering service sent my message through to the on call doctor, which was supposed to be that I needed a cheaper medication that the insurance would cover. Later on I received a message from the on call doctor which i am assuming was PA Adam Ortega wanting me to review the medication. The medication was the same one that had been sent and it was sent to the pharmacy that was closed for the weekend. In other words he didn't even open or read my chart. I then called back to the answering service and left them another message that I needed a cheaper medicine than what is listed and it was to be sent to the Walmart Pharmacy in Edinburg off of 281. The answering service guy said he would send it through and said if the doctor feels this is an emergency he will contact you back. Well I never received a call back or a message back from PA Adam Ortega. It's now Sunday morning and I am without the medication I was needing to lower my potassium since Friday and before Monday. I am going to have to go to Walmart and purchase this medication that is over 500 dollars out of pocket because someone isn't doing their job by reading the chart correctly or by picking up the phone and calling the patient directly. I've always been happy with VMAC and PA Edgar Garcia however, not this time with PA Adam Ortega.

Staff was amazing with mom preop and during surgery! But the fact we had to wait 8 hours for a…read morescheduled surgery at 8am and was not seen until 3:45pm is absolutely unacceptable. Not only that is mom couldn't eat since 12am the night before so had to go 15 hours with no food and no explanation of the wait. Oh and she is diabetic. Now we are finished up 12 hours later to wait to just see her so I can finally get food since the cafeteria closed at 2pm before my mother could even get back before surgery. Not only that when I asked where to go so I can see my mom the nurse kept saying he and I corrected her that it's my mother we are waiting on. She clearly had no idea what patient I was even looking for. Unreal! Disappointed at the least to say!

Wish more doctors office worked this way. Office staff very friendly. as was everyone else. Was seen by Blake Hensler PA. From his examination which included outlining where in my ear my issue was stemming from, he explained that he would like to start on medication. If the medication was not affective there were two alternatives. Both were detailed to me where i was even shown a small device that would be placed in my ear if the meds were not affective. Left with a very high comfort level that whatever the outcome Blake and the Institute will provide me with excellent care.
