We had the most incredible stay here. There was a very kind desk attendant who was friendly and made us feel so welcomed and cared for. Security cameras also on site made me feel safe considering coming from out of town and never having stayed in this area before. The sheets were clean, and it looked like a brand new mattress we slept on as well. No bed bugs or anything. Place was clean, smelled good, quiet, and we both felt safe. Place it completely redone with very nice soft hardwood floor. Will be staying here again!!!!! Also very cute area about 5 miles away... very good places to eat. We stayed here during a pretty hectic time while our house was closing in Brookfield, so we were really relying on a comfortable, quiet place to unwind--and for the most part, the hotel delivered. Check-in was smooth, staff was professional, and the room itself was clean and up to standard. The bed was comfortable and it served its purpose well for a short-term stay during a stressful transition. That said, I can't give a full 5 stars because of a few issues during our stay. There were several nights where noise carried late into the hallways, including guests having parties nearby that made it hard to fully rest. We also noticed some disruptive behavior outside the rooms at times that wasn't really addressed quickly. Nothing ruined the entire stay, but it definitely took away from the peace and relaxation we were expecting during an already stressful moment in our lives. Overall, solid hotel with good basics and a convenient location, but management could do a better job enforcing quiet hours and keeping the environment more controlled. I'd still consider staying again, but with the expectation that weekends may get a bit chaotic. 4 stars. read more

I had an unexpected overnight stay in the area after my flight from Chicago Midway was canceled. All the hotels at the Midway Center were booked, so a representative there helped me arrange a stay at the Rodeway Inn. The staff, especially Kenyatta and Maria, were kind and welcoming. My room was clean, the area felt safe, I had a hot shower, and the motel is about 15 minutes from MDW. I didn't eat breakfast, but I appreciated that it was available. I know there are several negative reviews here, but my experience was positive, and it met my needs when I was in a jam. read more

If I could put 0 stars I would. Upon arrival me and my girlfriend checked in and noticed the photos online were absolutely nothing like the real thing. The room was a mess Poop and pee in the toilet. hairs that were clearly not ours everywhere. We killed a wasp that was on the wall. there were ants under the sink. mosquitos on the wall. Absolute dumpster fire of a place. Im surprised they're even allowed to let people lay their heads here. I left and got a new hotel after being here for just 20 minutes it was so nasty. If you're thinking of going here don't. You're better off sleeping in your car than going here. Id also like to add the women at the front desk tried actually saying to me there's nothing wrong with this room it's completely fine. YEAH OKAY. seriously do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT STAY HERE. also id like to mention that the lock on the door is broken. I had a reservation booked for this past Tuesday and I was unable to stay due to family emergency. They were unable to cancel the reservation so I called Choice Privileges reward customer service per the hotel. The CSR was helpful. However she couldn't get the GM to refund me my money or points. How can someone take money from someone who had an emergency come up. If I don't get a response I'll have to call again the hotel ad hopefully someone can be more understanding read more

Pros: fast check in, pretty clean rooms / bathroom tolerable. Cons: wifi was "broken" during my stay, the towels were literally as thin and worn as a bed sheet. The hot water was temperamental and the shower knob was broken. Limited parking. If you have no other choice then it's "tolerable" for a night. If you have options then do yourself a fav and just spend money to stay some place nicer. read more

Literally the worst motel I've ever stayed at, and I like a good cheap roadside motel here and there. I checked in at 8AM since I was exhausted, to get some shuteye before driving back to Milwaukee. I should've checked the reviews. When I entered the office the employee seemed entirely surprised that I came in "off the street" without a reservation. He said they had 2 rooms available, one is hourly and the other is for the day/night. How was he surprised at someone coming in without a reservation when they offer hourly rates? Hourly rates should've been the first red flag. The room was small but ok for the price and last minute booking. Cigarette burns on the comforter, no air conditioning available, with the heater on blast which I turned off immediately. Only 1 small and 1 regular towel, one bar of soap at the sink. Shampoo but no conditioner. The toilet filled itself with water every 5 minutes for no apparent reason, seems they have plumbing problems. But who cares, I'm there to get some sleep. Within 30 minutes of getting to the room (around 9AM) there's a couple in the room above me having insanely loud sex. I'm talking screaming and headboard banging, for upwards of 30 minutes. They then proceeded to bang around the room and talk loudly for another few hours. Then, about 3 different times, an SUV parked directly in front of my room decided it was time to demonstrate its insane sound system. My room vibrated and creaked from the noise level. Are you kidding me? Finally, the maids, who have insanely loud carts because they're plastic wheels on concrete, burst into my room because they had not been informed that the room was booked. Between all of this, I only managed about 3 hours of sleep. Avoid this place at all costs unless you're either shooting a seedy porno or want to hang out around the shady dregs of society. read more

I am just going to make a list of my crappy encounters: 1. The pool was closed and no one told me 2. The room smelled like smoke. 3. The tub was slippery 4. We didn't have any face towels 5. I went to get towels and she told me she couldn't leave the desk to get any. I had to wait until the maids came back in the morning. 6. Underneath the bed was nasty. All types of crumbs and crud. 7. The room phone didn't work. I had to use my cellphone to call the front desk. 8. Tv picture was dark. Some things I liked: 1. The staff was nice. 2. The ice machine worked. 3. There's a lot of stores in the area. 4. The breakfast was okay. If you just need a place to sleep for cheap, this is the place for you. It's nothing fancy or cool for that matter. The room wasn't *terrible*. It seemed clean, just a bit run down. The parking lot is teeny tiny compared to the amount of rooms. We had some interesting people watching for the hourly rooms at least lol Our room didn't have air conditioning which was fine the first night we stayed (in the 50's) but it was super stuffy the second night (in the 70's) The pool is indoors but it's not heated so we only managed about 10 minutes before our teeth chattered out lol All in all we were really only here to sleep and shower so it was sufficient for us. Room is pretty basic. No closet, iron or desk. I can see they updated the bathroom fixtures recently and the bed was a king size so that was a plus. Unfortunately though there were some pest issues. Mosquitos and gnats with a surprise spider in the shower. Breakfast is included with choices of beagles, cereal, or waffles. Coffee is provided but only in styrofoam cups. Also, the curtain in the room was falling off the wall causing light to come in the room at night and people to see in during the morning. When mentioned to the front desk we revived a sorry but that was about it. Chose this place cause it was close to the airport and I was getting in late and only needed a place to crash. I probably wouldn't choose to stay here again though. read more

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel for about 2 1/2 months while we were looking for an apartment. For the most part, we enjoyed our stay here. I'll break things down by pros and cons. PROS: Free wifi (however the wifi is spotty, and tends to work better if you are in a room on the second floor). Free continental breakfast (includes cold cereal, instant oatmeal, bagels, pastries, coffee, and waffles you make yourself) TV in the breakfast room Newspapers in the breakfast room Mini fridge & microwave in your room at your request Close to everything you need (Walgreens, fast food restaurants, I-55, etc.) Indoor pool Friendly desk staff & housekeeping staff Free cable Iron & ironing board Easy to make reservations online; they honor your Choice Rewards points CONS: Small parking lot (the hotel has lots of rooms but not enough parking spaces. Also there are truck drivers who take up 2-3 spaces in the lot as well). Hourly rooms (the people who get the hourly rooms are VERY loud, both inside and outside of the rooms, if you catch my drift). Occasionally out of basic supplies, like soap (they were out of soap for over a week). Guests tend to invite friends over, who proceed to "hang out" near your room, smoking and talking loudly. Located on a very busy street (Ogden Avenue); it is very hard to make a left turn onto Ogden Avenue (to go to the city), especially in the morning and afternoon during rush hour traffic. Occasionally there is a woman who watches you like a hawk while you are getting/eating breakfast. The hotel wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. I do think the rooms were a little pricey for what the hotel offered, but I've seen worse. The staff was the selling point for me, and the breakfast was the selling point for my kid. read more

I was really skeptical about staying here at first, but I'm glad we did! The outside is nothing to look at, but the room was amazing! We got the king suite with spa tub and loved it! The bed was comfortable, there were tons of channels on the TV, and the refrigerator and microwave were really convenient. The spa tub was even better than we expected! It looked nothing like the pictures on the website, the tubs look much newer in person. The only thing I wasn't impressed by was the breakfast. There wasn't much to choose from, and the orange juice is garbage. Overall were extremely impressed. It was a nice, quiet stay at a nice hotel at a reasonable price. read more

I chose to stay here because hotels downtown were very expensive. In late July/early August, this place cost a third of what hotels in the Loop were charging. Transportation: It's ~15min walk from the Brookfield train station (take note - the commuter rail, not the city metro, so once you get off at Union Station, you'll have to walk a couple blocks to get to a cta/metro station). Internet connectivity: Very, very poor. I was "upgraded" to the "master suite" (which the receptionist said was "the biggest room in the hotel"). Unfortunately, the master suite doesn't get Internet access. Okay it does, but I only had 1-2 bars during my entire stay there. When I called the receptionist to inquire about it, she told me flatly that "it's working just fine for everyone else." At least the Wi-Fi is free. Quality of room: It smelled so bad, I thought there was a dead body hidden somewhere, except I was too afraid to look. Ok, I didn't actually think there was a dead body anywhere, but there was such a strong stench in the room that lingered on my clothes even after I left. In fact, when I got home, everything in my suitcase smelled of it as well. The carpets had lots of stains in them, and the curtains were broken so I had to pin them together with bobby pins. I also spotted giant ants in the bathroom, as well as a variety of other insects. There was no hairdryer or steam iron, either. The place was so seedy I felt so scared I slept with the lights on. I ended up having to take a cab into the city everyday because I didn't want my suit or makeup to be ruined by the long commute in summer heat. On the bright side, Lyons township is relatively safe (it has low crime rates), and all of my cab drivers said that it was a decently safe place to spend the night in. There's a Starbucks, Jimmy Johns, Burger King, and Walgreens close by, so you don't have to worry about finding something to eat. read more

This hotel had some 5 star aspects and some 1 star aspects. We stayed here for one night because it was near Chicago. The plan was just to enjoy it for one night and then stay in downtown. The price is inexpensive so that's good. You probably can't be the price. We stayed in a "suite." We had a king size bed, a jacuzzi tub, and a couch bed. The tub was nice, but it's right next to the bed, which was fine for us, but it'd be weird for 4 people. It's a budget hotel, so it was a bit outdated. The tub needed a deep clean. It looked clean, but we found hair the spouts. They have a free breakfast. It's cereal and bagels. Service was friendly and good. Everything so far was good. Here's the one star aspect.... they have an indoor heated pool (awesome), but there was a tampon in it (not awesome). Nice hotel, but avoid the pool. read more

Avoid this hotel. I stay in old cheap hotels often, but this was a new level of bad. Really, I rarely complain in reviews. The room smelled of pee and mildew. The carpet felt sticky and damp. There were bugs crawling on the floor. The wi-fi connected, but the internet didn't work. Something is obviously wrong with the water pipes and the shower was impossible to operate. After a quick, cold shower, my hair was left with a slimy feel. The owner and his wife/housekeeper were hovering over everyone. There are a few parking spaces inside the hotel perimeter, but otherwise you have to park in a lot outside the hotel, highly susceptible to theft. There are many more issues I could add. I'm usually fine with an issue or two at a hotel, but essentially everything about this place was gross. read more

I kind of wish there was a fridge in the room but you can't get everything you want right. I was from out of town on a trip and most things I wanted to do ended up being pretty far away. You can't really beat the price here though. That was a plus. I missed out on the free continental breakfast because I usually sleep in, so i have no idea if that was good or not. Where do I start? I didn't want to walk on the cigarette burned and some sort of liquid stained carpet in my bare feet. Then there was the cigarette burn in the blanket on the bed. It was so incredibly hot in the room I had to turn off the heat just to make it bearable because of the lack of temperature control on the unit. And it was about 12 degrees outside. Then, upon attempting to wash up before bed, I noticed there was no soap at all in the room. I just used some I had with me because it was late at night. We were paying for three rooms and none of them had soap and one had no hot water. When we informed the front desk, one bar of soap was produced and then the clerk told us it was our fault we didn't ask for soap and to have the hot water repaired. I travel a lot - probably been in over 150 hotel rooms this year - and this is the worst one I have stayed at in a long time. And I'm not that picky. If I could leave no stars, I would. read more

This was our first time in Chicago, visiting for a three night stay, so we could go to a concert and enjoy what Chicago has to offer. We didn't plan on staying in the inn much so we went cheaper for price, and just needed a bed to sleep in. When we got there we had a bad greeting. No smiles, and the personal phone was going off from the employee who still answered and said, "just a minute" to the caller after walking away without warning. Didn't even say a thing about it. Automatically wondering what we got into. All in all, the wifi on the far side of the building sucks. Never was able to connect. Bed was uncomfortable and only had two pillows on it; of which were two completely different shapes and sizes. Was missing just about everything. Out of soap, and water cups. Out dated, but you get what you pay for. And we will pay for better next time. Wouldn't recommend. Spend the extra $20. It's worth giving up a pizza for a meal. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would, when I checked in the room seemed nice until we began to sit around. The blanket was dirty, with muck stains on the inside blanket and the bathroom was dirty with burn marks on the tub (how is this possible when it's a non smoking hotel). We informed hotel management and they couldn't change the sheets so they changed the room. In the second room, it seemed cleaned until we layed down, it was infested with bed bugs my partner and I woke up with several bites in the middle of the night. At this point we were willing to sleep in the car, we informed the night manager and she said she hadn't received any complaints, and offered another room. The third room was dirty as well(the table had crumbs on it, the tissue in the bathroom was very thin, and the shower hadn't been cleaned up) Plus we were still itching so we slept in the car. It was completely unacceptable, and I will never stay here again. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! read more

This place is an absolute dump but I should've guessed because the neighborhood is super run-down too. Stupidly, I booked it through Hotels.com BEFORE seeing the place myself and when we pulled up, I knew there was no way we were going to set foot in any of their rooms. There were sketchy people hanging out near the entrance to the parking lot and you could tell people lived in the rooms (unless the hotel chooses to have makeshift curtains, which futher proves my point of what a dump this place was). I mentioned Hotels.com earlier because when I called Hotels.com to tell them, they were apologetic about my experience but Rodeway Inn refused to refund my money for whatever B.S. reason. read more

I had a terrible experience with choice hotels. We booked a room with Rodeway Inn in Lyons Illinois. It's was pouring down rain when we arrived or else I would have requested to see the room because from the outside (which didn't look a damn thing like the pics online) it was sketchy at best. Once we checked in a very unpleasant woman gave us our room keys and sent us on our way. When we entered the room that we took the rusty stairs to get to, it was apparent the online pictures were taken like a decade ago. Dirty floors and there was even urine on the toilet seat. Once we sat our luggage down we realized we could still very clearly hear the rain. Because the door wouldn't shut all the way!! It slated to have been kicked in and the dead bolt did not even lock. Completely unsafe. I called the choice hotels reservation hot line only to be redirected to their corporate line. The man told me I could not get my money back even tho we had only been there for less than an hour. WHAT!!! I have children, there is no way....as a good parent, that I could stay there. This gets better. .....they then book me a second reservation in a town they said was 20 minutes from Chicago (our trip destination) only to find out it was over an hour away. Seriously!?! In checking in we find out they also only booked us one night instead of two. Wonderful. Thru all of this they would not refund our money for the hour we spent in the discusting scary rodeway and only gave us a minimal discount on the rooms that were more than twice as far away from the city as they claimed. Never EVER EVER recommending or coming back to any choice hotels !!!! Grrrrr!!! read more
