We've had good experiences at Holiday Inn Express and this was excellent. You can't see it from the main road because it is located on top of the hill and the signage is small. It is a modern gem. The rooms are spacious, clean and nicely appointed. There is even a reading light at the bed. Breakfast dining room had good amount of seating. The hot breakfast had their signature cinnamon rolls (my family loves them) and the buffet on this day had hash browns! Service was friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back!

Concierge made a joke about how I must be " a gay" bc of my small dog, Lucy, who I was holding... I was actually speechless and offended when he said "well that's one way to know you're a queer." He continued with: "well, I'll obviously be charging you a pee fee for your lil accessory." I showed him her certificated emotional support animal form and HE DENIED IT... like, that is illegal. 2. Got out of the shower and completely nude a family of 3 walked into my room!! They were accidentally given the wrong key.. this was outrageous and when I went to express my shock, he did. not. care. 3. Was charged THREE times of $160, $78 and $90. Online price is 119 and I shouldn't have paid a pet fee... the $90 additional fee??? We went into the lobby and it looked ok. We checked out the little bar/restaurant it looked updated and cute. So we decided to check in. Well.... the drinks are inexpensive by CT standards. Tall mixed drinks 5. They pour generously too and 2.50 for beer. Cool The food was very generous and tasty. THE ROOM. Was a hot mess! Ugh. We first noticed a musty funky smell so my boyfriend said let's crank the ac and see if that helps air out the room. It did a bit but not totally. The bed and sheets looked clean. The carpet was ripped, the walls had bubbles like there was a flood or something, The bathroom ceiling was brown, they used the wrong size lights in the socket so you could see up in the ceiling, the shower walls were dirty. We didnt even shower. I figured I was cleaner than the walls since we had spent the day driving Lol. I'd pass on this as a place to stay for sure. If it wasn't so late we would have left. I have to say the staff was super friendly but not motivated to clean very well. Lots of cobwebs and filthy doors and such.

Every inch of this home was decorated with history, memories, and love.  (on top of this, its IMMACULATELY clean!)   We stayed in Lydias room (Peggy's daughter) which was perfect with the two beds. We had a 'corner' of the second floor that included our own bathroom and provided quite a bit of privacy if we so wished.  The linens matched the décor, and were soft, smelled OUT of this WORLD, and promoted a great nights rest for us both!   We opted out of breakfast for (2) mornings as we had an AGENDA to be at these yard sales by 0800!! haha   Peggy took it upon herself to make us (2) lunch bags, full of yogurt, sandwich, fruit and all out love for the day!  Our third morning we were blessed to have breakfast with Peggy and 3 other house guests who were also visiting for the yard sale.  You put 5 women at this beautiful breakfast table + Peggy with NO CELL phones.... Provided such a human connection within the 6 of us, it was remarkable!   God willing we will be back - the entire experience was a memory I will never ever forget. Thank you Peggy, for the best weekend EVER with my BFF!!!

Plenty of big fluffy towels, a bathroom counter and medicine cabinet full of toiletries (including those you may have forgotten!), excellent water pressure, and a very clever "privacy curtain" to wall off the room we were staying in with our bathroom (see picture). Our bedroom had several items of an unusual shade of subtle purple that clearly came from different places and times. "Good eye!" my daughter exclaimed when noticing this, and this is evident throughout the house. Our bathroom had a charming balcony with tables and chairs for lounging in warmer weather (see picture). We really enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again if ever again we're in the vicinity.
