Ordered the Burrito Sinaloa and Enchiladas Mexicana. Both tasted great!!

Service was great, and the food tasted great too!! Would definitely visit again if I am in the Lynchburg area

Tierra De Mar plate was on point!

This has become our go to spot for lunch in Dillwyn. Its located in a small strip mall on the east side of the road with plenty of parking. The atmosphere is relaxed and seems to be traditional Mexican. One reason I say this because the back room has interesting leather chair covers. The style looks Mexican or American Indian if I were to guess. Before trying the food, I was little nervous since Dillwyn is such a small town. My thought process was that that Frida's wouldn't have much competition therefore lowering their standards. I was gladly mistaken. We have been there several times now and it has been pretty consistent. Lupe our server has been friendly and knowledgable. I have not been disappointed with her recommendations #17 Burrito grande ($6.50) & Tierra y Mar (8.99) My favorite being the mix of seafood and steak : Tierra y Mar. The food has been on point. I'm working in the area, so I'm only here for lunch and really haven't had the opportunity to try one of their Margarita's. They look really tasty though...

Carne Asada

I am giving this restaurant two stars considering that there are not that many choices in this area. My friend and I went camping nearby, so we decided to give this place a try. The chips and salsa were actually good. I ordered the carne asada, which is one of my favorite dishes. I requested that the steak be cooked medium well, and not only was the steak completely dried, but the cut itself was not good...it tasted more like liver. Both the choice of meat and the seasoning were poorly selected/prepared. There was no authenticity at all! In addition to the meal, the service was pitiable. Our waitress was sitting by the bar eating chips and chatting away without a care to the total of 3 tables that were occupied at the time. Furthermore, when she saw my plate, she asked if I didn't like the meal, and then felt compelled to tell me at that time that she was not a fan of that dish either. The picture shows how my plate looked after I was done eating...and I was extremely hungry at the time. If you absolutely have to come to this place, go with a more common dish - maybe chicken tacos??

Not a big fan, they use too much chili powder in everything. Service is good and the protions are pretty standard.

AMBIANCE We rolled in on a late evening hoping to feed our…read moreMexican cravings and stay toasty. Gives the rave review of how underrated this spot was, we decided to give it a go. It's a small spot on the side of High Street that's probably easily missed. Gratefully had parking spots right outside and when we walked it, we were immediately greeted. We took a few minutes to scan the large menu on the board and the more comprehensive one on the counter. We ordered the quesadillas, fajitas, and pixie and were cautioned that that would be an enormous portion (very much appreciated the honesty on that one and was true). We ordered it anyway since that's what we were craving! It's a small spot with 3 booths and a few smaller table areas. SERVICE Quick service spot where you order at the counter, find seating, and 10 minutes or so later your food is made in the kitchen and can be picked up at the pick-up counter a few steps away. We picked up our quesadillas and fajitas from the counter, and our pozole with pork was brought over to us with tortillas, cilantro, and onions. FOOD Absolutely delicious and so worth the value! The quesadillas were chunky with chicken and pozole was hearty and well spiced. Loved every bite of the pork, cilantro, and hominy!!! Can't find this in a lot of spots and so glad they do it here. The beef fajitas were also well done with a solid portion of sautéed vegetables and 3-4 tortillas! OVERALL Absolutely agree that this spot is underrated and a gem....quick, no frills unassuming spot with friendly staff that never disappoints. Would 11/10 recommend if you want Mexican food. We've already got this spot pinned for Mexican in C'ville favorites and are looking forward to going for our third time to try out more options.

It was flavorful but it was hard and the pork seemed old and dry. Maybe it was recycled or maybe they microwaved it to death. But I could not finish it. It was authentic but it was not what you would want to serve. I debated taking it back to the counter. I ordered two tacos. They are usually great. Today, nope. The Cabrito was okay today and the carnitas a little fatty. But the most disappointing thing is that they were not hot. Maybe they died in the window, but dead they were when they hit my table. The only thing saving the experience was the tostada...and the homemade tortillas on the tacos. All fresh. Even the signature sauce stand was different. The sauces today seemed very runny compared to how they usually present. I did get a fountain Pepsi and it was perfect. Overall, love the new spot and the decor. I will go back because i live their food. Assuming today was just an off day.

Ask for something special in that regard and you won't be disappointed. The salsa flight for appetizer was excellent! They make their own salsas here and the salsa verde is the best I've had outside of Mexico or Southern California. They also got a sweet & spicy peanut salsa that I've never experienced. It was delicious! I tried the burr-ita (burrito/fajitas) for the entree and that was excellent, as well. We had a really nice time talking with Bill. Would recommend this place to anyone!

Having said that, I was pleased with my options here, and was hungry enough to devour both some tortilla chips with chopotle salsa and some indulgent mushroom tacos (albeit not hungry enough to ponder what I suspect would have been a quality dessert). Their vegetarian options are based around mushrooms, but I also got a lot of beans in on the side, and appreciated the freshly cooked peppers on the side. The mushrooms themselves were a little rubbery and I didn't like them as much as I'd hoped, but mixed in with the other ingredients the total result was good, and I was happy to find a place that suited my dietary needs and offered a variety of fresh tastes.
