Best place to spend NYE with our kiddos. The owners were the sweetest and the place was well cared for (coffee's good too!) We loved all of the animal experiences and had plenty of opportunities to feed a variety of animals. Thanks for the fun time! Highly recommend.

Very fun for all ages!! the deer were all so sweet and I've always wanted to feed a deer, I got to live my dream today!!

One of the best safaris I've been to in Texas. Ran by sweet people, full of interesting and unique animals (including some HUGE bison) and their prices are fair!

We found this location through Yelp. It sounded like it might be fun, so we went. We were kind of concerned that there weren't a lot of signs along the way, and wondered if it was still in fact, opened. But it was, happily. The entrance is easy to pass on the road if you're not actively looking for it, and our GPS calculated it as slightly further down the road than it actually was. When we arrived, we were one of two groups that were there, but by the time we left, there were probably a good six or seven cars behind us. When we went inside to pay for tickets, there was a cat sleeping on the sign-in book. They had adopted the cat, or maybe he had adopted them. That shows that they love animals. The cat was funny because he didn't budge as we signed in. He remained dozing and was a very sweet cat. One large bag of feed comes with your ticket price, and you can buy more if you would like. From past experience, we didn't think we would need more than one bag, because many times, when we have gone to similar animal rescue sanctuaries , the animals have been well fed, and were not particularly interested in what we had to offer. In the case of Rocky Ridge, the animals were very welcoming of the food. Some were in fact, insistent but not in a frightening way. They would gladly stick their heads inside the car to be fed. Sometimes they would follow the car. For example, there was a llama that followed us several times, and when my husband gently began to pull forward with the car the llama tried to keep pace with us. As we were leaving the main drive-through way, , we noticed a small sports car that was literally swarmed with the animals wanting to be fed. The roads are a little bit rough, so guests need to be aware that a car that can handle that is recommended. Animals will get close to the car and if the window is open, they will put their heads in the car. Some of them have antlers or large heads. In the case of a Highland cow they have large tongues. Just be aware that you will need to gently drive away and if you do, they tend to understand and pull their heads out of the window- but slow and gentle driving is also highly recommended for the safety of the animals. Dirt and saliva will get on the side of the car. That is to be expected from this type of experience. Some of the food pellets will fall in the floor and of your car. Expect that. If you have a really nice car and you are concerned about getting it dirty in the least, you probably don't want to drive that car into this facility. You will likely go home with some feed in some parts of your floorboard, etc. that you will have to pull out later, and the animals may approach after drinking water. That may leave temporary evidence on your window opening and on the door. . Unfortunately, we encountered cars in passing where there were some number of small children screaming every time the animals reached in the car to get the food. This can make the animals skittish and hesitant to approach a car if this type of outing is what you're planning, at any such type of animal sanctuary experience , please prepare your children not to overreact, when an animal is just reaching for the food you have to offer. These animals, were very gentle when given the food. We would definitely return!

He especially loved feeding the giraffes and the budgies. One of the budgies flew up on my husband's head and just stayed there. The buffalo was a little scary to him when it decided to take the whole bucket of food and ripped it out of my husband's hand but it was all okay. The grounds are nice and clean and the staff was very friendly and kind. It is a little pricey but when you think of all that goes in to keeping these animals and how educational it is, it is well worth it. We spent 4 hours there and my grandson wants to go back. A big thumbs up!

The park is divided into Front, Middle, Back and North Safari zones so pace your food or the animals in the back will miss out. TIP: buy LOTS of feed. We purchased 4 four-bucket packs and ran out of food! The boys quickly discovered which animals were 'bad boys' (their words) who clamped their jaws on the food bucket and pulled it out of their hands--Zebras and Camels--and which animals had insatiable appetittes-- Ostriches and Llamas! After winding through the safaris, seeing hundreds of beautiful animals and feeding many, we stopped for a walk through the Safari Trading Post. The boys fed a giraffe and Budgies (separate food needed), explored the pond, petted goats and browsed the Safari Trading Post. Despite the Texas heat, many animals were out and actively looking for free food while others soaked in the ponds. Hearing the boys screaming and laughing and seeing their smiles was priceless! A fantastic find--we've already planned another trip!

The trip here was not as planned as I would normally do. We had come to Tyler for something else, but kept hearing "you gotta check out the zoo". And what better day than on my Grandbubby's 6th birthday!! Of course, being August, it was toasty out, but we trekked the whole park and seen most of the animals. It looks as though some of the exhibits were empty or under some construction. We had ourselves a blast with all the animals and the birds. Maybe next time for them penguins and a few other animals. All in all, for a Tuesday when school has started again, not bad... not many people, which I'm hoping that's the case and not low attendance on a regular. The zebras, giraffes, elephants, rhino, alligator, river otters, tortoises, various macaws, anteater, Bat-Eared Foxes, monkeys, jaguar, lions, and various bird species were all spectacular and amazing! Love it here! All in all, I love that my Grandbubbies love this place so much and provides them a learning experience! Thank you, Caldwell Zoo and Staff! As always, Enjoy & Happy Zooing!

Probably about the same amount as the average Joe or Jane. They've got fish in tanks on displays, as well as crocodiles (not in tanks though, but in their own enclosure). They've got an exhibit on models of fish caught over the year. Some get pretty big and impressive as well as an insane amount of lures. They have a quick little show with a giant tank and diver in it teaching about the different fish there. We followed it with a tram tour around the fishery. They showed where the fish was kept and explain the process. Towards the end they'll offer to let you off so you can walk back through their marsh walkway or take you back on the tram. We opted for the walk since it was such a beautiful day out and it was scenic and a good short walk to get the heart going. My favorite part was the fishing pond they have. They'll even set you up with rod and lures to fish there as part of your admission. Before they send you off, they'll give you a quick little spiel to get you started. We thought this would be such a fun place for her and her siblings to visit, and it absolutely exceeded our expectations. Annie and Tess were our guides, and I truly cannot say enough great things about them. They took the time to teach us about every single animal we had the pleasure of meeting, allowing us to move at our own pace and really enjoy every moment. I found myself feeling so relaxed and fully present during the experience, and that wouldn't have been possible without their patience and care. They were amazing. Honestly, all of the staff we encountered were so kind and welcoming. The animals were clearly happy and very well taken care of. My kids loved every encounter and even learned a little about how to care for the animals themselves. I actually saw a review complaining about animal poop around the property... but it's a farm. The animals are free-roaming instead of being kept in cages, which honestly made the experience even more special. If someone expects a hospital-grade environment, this probably isn't the place for them. This is a farm with well-loved and well-cared-for farm and exotic animals. I highly recommend bringing yourself, your family, and your kids here. You won't regret it. We already can't wait to come back -- I might even have to celebrate my own birthday here as an adult!
