I don't want to include technical industry terms so I will just say all my recordings here have been impeccable - from VO sessions, to finding the best score for a TVC, to creating sound highlights for an existing material, to producing radio ads from scratch. SK did not lose its loyal clientele because the new location is only about a leap and a half away from its old one. Cheap rates and nearness still draw in lots of student bands looking for a rehearsal or recording studio. It has two fully equipped jam rooms. If you're lucky, they sometimes have available a guitar for lending to musicians who for some reason left their instruments at home or got robbed, etc. The greatest thing about this is that after a long, exhausting, but productive jam, bands can go straight to drinking downstairs, which is the new Tomato Kick. Band productivity and then band conversation and love make for an exciting combo. Yay to music and friendship!

It's an affiliated unit of Jesuit Communications and is actually located in the JesCom building inside the Ateneo de Manila campus. It's a full-service recording studio that can help you with your music projects, film scores, commercial jingles, albums, and even video production. If you've seen those JMM Cover videos on Youtube, this is where those were recorded (both the video and the music). Artists like Noel Cabangon, the UP Singing Ambassadors, the Loboc Children's Choir, and even The Dawn have recorded here. My highschool choir had the opportunity to record here as well for this alumni album project for our old school and we had the best time! There are 2 studios, the main one that can hold a full choir/band, and a smaller one on the second floor that's better for solo singers or smaller groups. Although the interiors are a bit old and not very fancy-looking, it's still a top quality studio, fully fitted with the right facilities, tools, and equipment. They also offer instrument rentals if your group might need it, and their friendly and super helpful in-house producers & sound engineers are always there to assist. These guys are sometimes even Jesuit Music Ministry artists themselves! They can also help with full production of your CDs from designing to producing the actual bulk copies. The studio is open for bookings 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The UP Music Circle, a university-based organization, hosts its semi-annual auditions here at MRS…read more It's perfect for the screening process because it's essentially a house with lots of areas for different stations. The living room serves as the reception and venue for vocalist applicants, the driveway/small garage is where we sometimes set up chairs to interview those who want to go into production, and then inside is the band room. It's small, but it's got a full drum set and amplifiers. Shoes are not allowed inside, and while the owner is pretty easy to talk to, he does require you to respect. After all, the place looks pretty much like a home, so I wouldn't be surprised if he actually does live there. Anyway, since we are his "suki" already, booking is pretty easy. The place is known mostly to UP underground bands and has been a staple since it opened many years ago. In fact, it's one of the first rehearsal studios to open in the Maginhawa area. While the equipment do show signs of wear, they're still okay to use. Best of all, the place has a cheaper rate than most studios.

Before anything else, please note that bookings are usually by referral. This is probably because…read morethe owner wants to ensure that the equipment isn't being abused by irresponsible musicians. The pay-off is that the equipment here is decent and pretty well taken care of. They have two fully stocked rooms with guitar (Marshal) and bass amplifiers (Gallien Krueger). Penguin also takes care of its musicians by having water conveniently available. That's especially noteworthy because some jams take hours, and water breaks are pretty inconvenient if you have to cut on studio time just to venture outside to find it. There isn't much of a waiting area--the place is pretty small--but then again, this is a place for musicians at work, not a tambayan. The owner, fondly called Doc Randy, is a guitar aficionado by night and a dentist by day. He and his studio are known to veteran artists like The Ronnies, Pedicab, Dicta License, Kjwan, The Purplechickens, and Imago.

The work was composed of 10 videos, 3 minutes each and I, being the sole copywriter had to finish everything in 4 days. It was my first big project and I was so stressed and shaken by the whole thing that my hair started to fall out. Luckily, I worked with a production house that made everything easier for me. They stayed with me throughout the "ordeal", fed me well, assisted my every need and gave me encouragement whenever I would feel my tears well up. Yes, it was that terrible but we finished strong! My director August Espino made my scripts come to life and in the end all the hard work pulled through. Our mega client was happy, so we were happy.
