My Rockland Trust debit card information was stolen and used by someone in another state to make a…read morepurchase of nearly $1,000.00 I was sent a text message from Rockland Trust on that day asking me if I made this purchase, to which I replied "NO", and the card was subsequently frozen and my account was given a provisional credit for that $1,000.00 fraudulent purchase. Fast forward 3 months later, and the provisional credit I had been given was then RESCINDED by Rockland Trust, and I was told they had been given "proof" by the merchant where the fraudulent transaction occurred that it was not fraudulent, despite the fact that the bank itself CONTACTED me that day when the purchase was made as they suspected it to be fraudulent. Now Rockland Trust is telling me there is "nothing more we can do", despite having already being able to provide me a credit for the fraudulent purchase that they TOLD me about the moment it happened. I will very likely be taking my business elsewhere entirely and never banking here again because of this complete failure, on Rockland Trust's part, to protect me and my financial security despite every indication and piece of evidence they had to do so.

I would not recommend doing business with this bank. Their systems and procedures are totally…read moreinadequate. They have bounced checks on us for signatures when signatures were correct. We require two signatures on every check. They would not allow me to transfer from checking to savings because they said our rules required two signatures for that. When I pointed out that our rules clearly only require two signatures only for third party payments I was met with blank stares. Finally had to force the manager to do the transaction which should have been a teller function. When we want to add a new signer they require us to have all signers, even existing signers, submit sign a new signature card. The only reason is to make it easier for their Bookkeeping Dept. to to their job. Other banks solve this problem with software and systems. This bank has no clue. Their online banking application is unable to display check images half of the time. When I reported the problem they eventually came back and told me that it seems that check images for checks that clear the Fed on Friday are not being captured. OK great. Now fix it! As of today the problem is still there.

I come here if I need to use the ATM and for the most part, like many people these days, I do my banking online. There are still times however where going to a bank to talk to an actual banker is helpful. I understand that at the start of the pandemic, most everyone was ordered to "shut down" and this held true of BOA. But when things started opening back up, it seemed to me, Bank of America was very, very slow to get any of their employees back on site. At one point, this location and the Cohasset location swapped off...one site would be open and the other closed and vice versa. So if you needed to do something in person, you first had to sort out which of the two sites would be open on any given week so you would know where to go. Bank of America did not make it any easier to reach someone on the phone. Even pre-pandemic, using the phone was a challenge. But during the pandemic trying to reach an employee by phone was an exercise in frustration with long, long waits. What were all these employees doing??? Were they just furloughed and not actually working? Did they say they were working and weren't doing so? It was an infuriating time especially as I was someone working onsite and in person throughout the pandemic....Admittedly I had little patience for at places that remained completely closed after it was deemed safe enough to have at least some open, in-person hours. This bank had what I would call very poor service throughout the pandemic and it feels that only recently are things marginally back on track which is confounding. The hours that the bank is open are generally speaking inconvenient...they are 10am to 4pm. This works for me now that I am retired but would never have worked for me if I was still working. These ridiculous hours harken back to decades ago when "bankers' hours" were the norm and actually closed at 3pm. But in 2023 this is not user friendly especially when calling someone doesn't really work either. The bank is relying on the customer taking care of everything online. Cheaper for them, sometimes though, this is less accommodating for customers. A few weeks ago, I stopped in to use the ATM (some of us still like to have cash on hand) and I had a question about switching over an account I have at another bank. I was able to talk to the one bank employee onsite (other than one teller) in person who was pleasant enough and was able to answer my question and that was good. But there are no friendly "local" vibes here....it's all "corporate" with a non-user friendly approach to a post-pandemic "normal". For Bank of America it still seems like they are living in a 2020 pandemic constructed world. (But they still want your money!)

I made a list and started calling and then I landed on Quincy Credit Union in Weymouth. Not only was it near me but the interest rate was amazing. Life was extremely hectic that week and I was lucky enough to deal with Mike Grady. He went above and beyond to make this fast and simple..even took the time to call my insurance company for me. I feel very lucky to have dealt with someone who knows what they are doing and treats you with such respect. Thank you Mike!

I switched to SoFi online banking because this bank was so bad. They are so outdated, the app looks…read moreand works like it's from when apps were first created. You can't add your card to your apple wallet, you can scan a check into the app. It's all so outdated. My account went overdrawn while working to change things over to a new bank and they charge you for the fees...makes sense. One day I checked and they charged me 6 times at once. So I call and I tell the very rude lady on the phone that I'm taking care of it and I have already switched the bill to my new account. I'm not sure why they keep trying to take it out of this account but in the meantime could you help me stop these fees from coming out. She said no as quick and rude as possible. I've had other banks before so I know that usually there is something they can do. But I guess not Quincy credit union. They suck, their customer service sucks, the app sucks. Don't use this bank!!!

They could have said, " Thanks for waiting we will be right with you, thank you for your patience" but neither of the two tellers even looked up. As Citizens Bank has been a great Bank, maybe this these are recently hired and did not realize that the transaction they were working on took a long time! Even the Stop n Shop employee in front of my was out of work and commented on the long wait without either teller looking up. Sorry I came here I should have gone to my regular one in Quincy where they actually greet you and look you in the eye and glad your their customer. I learned to stick to Quincy!

Last Sunday my brother realized his checking account was affected by scammers. He was out $16,000 by a coin base scammer. His branch was closed on Sundays so he called Ed in the Hanover branch. Ed was extremely helpful. When you're in panic mode call Ed!! After this happened I went into the Hanover branch to move some money out of checking, Jennifer was great to work with.
