I really do like this clinic. The twist to it is that students perform the exam! Now, no worries,…read morethey are in their final year of their Masters degree, so don't fear having a hipster undergrad diagnosing you, things are fairly serious. I have always had very thorough exams here, regardless of the student in charge. Of course, they always check with their supervising doctor before prescribing your lenses or glasses. While that is reassuring and quite normal, it can lengthen the consultation time a bit. Their waiting times can be downright astounding, as per usual make sure to call a month in advance for anything. A little cold calling doesn't hurt tough and I have scored an appointment for the very same day (once). Their telephone consumer service is pretty hit-or-miss tough, fingers crossed! The prices on the frames and glasses are alright and you get a 15% discount if you're a student! Should you choose to have your glasses made on site, you can wait in their spacious lobby (or go to the library nearby, shop at American Apparel ..) and leave an hour later with your new goggles! Their selection is quite good, they have a little bit of everything for everyone, from classic frames to high-end brands, hipster spectacles and downright weird stuff. For the times when crap happens, just drop in and they'll do their best to help you: at some point my mom even got her frame welded there. This is definitely a place where your bespectacled self can feel right at home!

It's not just eye charts anymore. Choosing frames is also a great experience here. The residents here really aim to please and will help you choose frames which suit your facial features and shape of your face as well. Prices here are very reasonable. You can get cheapy plastic frames in the $100 dollar range all the way up to Gucci frames in the $400 dollar range. Your choice. People here are very friendly and extremely professional. they keep your prescription on file and all lenses and frames here have a 2 year guarantee, the amount of time you're normally supposed to check your eyes. They also provide insurance receipts.

I hadn't gone for an eye exam in a few years so I decided to make an appointment at this place. I…read morehad gone here before a few years ago so they already had a file on me. I made my eye exam appointment for a specific day/time. When I arrived here a few minutes early, I was seen almost immediately. After getting my eyes examined, I was told that my old glasses were no longer adequate. Since I work in IT, Dr. Tran also recommended a second pair of glasses for me to use for close distances when I was working in front of a computer. Up until that point, I normally only wear glasses for driving or for distance (like at a movie theatre or at a show/concert). Since the strength of my old glasses were no longer adequate, I decided to only get my "distance" glasses. After being seen by Dr. Tran, I was seen by one of the salespeople for my glasses. She asked me to pick a few frames that I liked. I picked ~4 frames and then sat down in front of mirror for a closer inspection before deciding on the frame that I wanted. The saleslady informed me what the frame included in terms of the options for the lens (anti-reflective and scratch resistant). One of my previous glasses were transition lenses (lenses would darken in sunlight and go back to almost clear indoors) so I asked if I could get transition lenses for this new pair of glasses. I was informed about the added cost for transition lenses and decided to go that route. Total cost of the glasses was $300 where 50% deposit was required. The eye exam was $75.00 so I paid $225 which comprised of $150 (50% deposit for the glasses) + $75 for the eye exam before leaving. It took ~11 days (7 business days) for me to get my glasses which I consider to be somewhat on the longer side as I was expecting it to be ready in 5 business days (1 week). Another negative (but this happened to me in almost all optometrist places that I've gone to in my life) is that there is a strong push to purchase your glasses at the same place. When I returned to pick up my glasses (and pay for the remainder of the balance for my glasses), I asked for a copy of the prescription for my glasses and one was provided to me without any fuss. After paying the remainder of my balance, along with my glasses (and case for my glasses), I was also provided with a complementary cleaning cloth and a bottle of cleaning liquid for my glasses. I thought that this place is only open during standard "office hours" which makes it somewhat inconvenient as it would mean taking a day off work (or partial day off work) for the eye exam and another day off work (or partial day off work) to pick up the glasses. However, they do close later on Tuesdays (at 7:00pm) which allowed me to get there in time from downtown after finishing work.

I read the excellent reviews about her so I decided to go there to have her check my eye irritation due to dry eyes and get new prescription glasses. Indeed the reviews are very true! The English mass is 12:15 pm and 7:00 pm, Mon - Saturday and 11:15 am on Sunday. Plan to arrive early, since the masses can get filled up. It is free to enter or look around, and you just pay for parking, tours, or for the museum. Although there are stairs, we took the several flights of escalators up to the Votive chapel floor where the Crypt church was. The Votive chapel is a hallway lined in flickering votive candles. I really enjoyed the English mass; the cantor, who sings the prayers you repeat, had the most beautiful voice I ever heard in church. Afterwards, we walked around the large gift shops, Brother Andre's tomb, enjoyed the beautiful view of the city, poked my head into the Basilica but did not go in since the French mass was going to be be held, saw the original small chapel (no pictures allowed), and walked around the Garden of the Way of the Cross which has larger than life statues depicting the stations of the cross. I found them particularly moving, since the sorrow, struggle, and pain was depicted in the faces so large and more realistically than looking at small paintings. At the end, there were a number of stairs to walk down or I think you would need to backtrack to take the paths back to the start. Really a special place and you can feel the peace and prayers here in spite of the hundreds of people.

There's construction ongoing on the premises to build an elevator and making it easier to navigate between the floors.
