When my last gym discontinued circuit training classes last December, I started a new search. I compiled a list of gyms to try that offered group exercise classes focusing on strength training and conditioning. I tried five of them and became a member of one for about a month. I decided it wasn't a good fit: the trainer was constantly on his cell phone and wasn't paying much attention to the class, and the workouts weren't varied enough for me so I kept looking. A friend of mine recommended Rockingham Crossfit in Londonderry, NH. I have been going there for about six months now, and I love everything about it.
I was new to CrossFit and wasn't familiar with a lot of the movements so I was apprehensive at first. I was quickly put at ease by the coaches who are very knowledgeable, attentive and focused on correct form and movement. The workouts change from day to day and include high-intensity conditioning, weightlifting, and gymnastics movements. Of course, no one expects you to do a handstand on your first day, and there are many variations to each movement that you learn and master first before moving up in difficulty. The key is to go at your own pace and not to compare yourself to others since everyone's skill level is different. All the classes are super fun, and everyone, including the coaches, as well as all the members, are incredibly supportive and encouraging. Group sizes are small so the coaches are able to give everyone tips and correct their form. In addition to great workouts, Rockingham Crossfit offers an incredible atmosphere and organizes many fun events for their members throughout the year. I very highly recommend Rockingham Crossfit if you live in the area and are looking to take your fitness to the next level! read more
