One day the office told me to come get him because he was misbehaving. I found him in a room, by himself (he was only 5), crying. His shirt was off and his things were piled by his feet. They had cleaned out his cubby, apparently. I got him home, realized he was sick and found he had a fever. They were so incredibly neglectful. I never took him back. Side note, some parents really love Haven. I think if you fit in their mold then you might have a good experience. But they aren't great with kids that are different. I had a local psychologist that worked with the school occasionally tell me to get my kid out because it was like the Stepford Wives in there. Be careful if you choose this school.

They keep parents updated with weekly notes and photos, provide thoughtful individualized care, and make learning fun through age-appropriate activities. We also love all the special events throughout the year--from pumpkin patches and water days to Donuts with Dad, Muffins with Mom, and the Christmas performance. The teachers are truly involved with the kids, the facility is clean and secure, and the administrative side is easy and well-managed. Most importantly, we feel confident knowing our son is safe, cared for, learning, and having fun every day. We highly recommend Abundant Life Preschool!

They have been so sweet to us and our kiddos, as they grow. One of our babies is kind of... a curious destroyer. Elsa has just rolled with the punches, even as our kiddo tried to tear up the floor. She updates us every day on the new happenings (like a few days ago, how one of them pulled up to standing!) and is always coming up with new things for them to do and be interested in. And mainly I just feel really solid that they are in a loving, nurturing place that is helping them grow into sweet small humans. I'm so excited that they are moving to this new location and expanding.

I went to preschool and kindergarten at the Sunnyside campus, elementary school at the Switzer Mesa campus, and I just graduated from this school. I know I am fully prepared for high school, my fist job, and many other challenges in life. I was a CFO of the pizza business, "Ellie's Pizza Party", in which we sold pizza to the Switzer campus to raise money for our annual San Juan River Trip, which taught me how to manage a business. We went on community connections to help our community, going-outs for fun, and immersions, to bond. And finally, we went on the end-of-year River Trip, where we bonded for four days and three nights on the river. My favorite part of this school, though, is that the teachers and students always allow you to be yourself, and will always accept you for who you are. -Madison, age 13

Huge thank you's to Tynkertopia's creator, because what she has made, will leave such a legacy in so many kids, and families lives!!! It was our first time in, and will not be our last. My little boy had so much fun crafting with free run of endless loose materials. Something about the place and it's wonderful staff just calms the nervous system, and lets you know you are in a safe space where everyone is encouraged and accepted. The way the staff reacts when your child asks a question, or asks for materials that are not out amongst the thousands that are visibly available is with willingness and kindness. They even went out to the shed to bring in stuffing for the craft my kiddo decided to make as a Christmas present for me. He felt so valued and respected...like his voice mattered inside of Tynkertopia, even though he's a kid. Another thing they do when you walk in the door that was so unique and adds to the feeling that you are welcome there is to give you a tour of where everything is and what's available to do. They introduce you to their fascinating Honey Ant colony, and you can even spot the Queen! Honey Ants are beautiful creatures. Tynkertopia offers nutritious snacks for hungry little tummies. The way they bring you in to this wondrous space makes you feel so at home. This is a non-profit and apparently they just won a couple of awards for (I think it was ) best things to do with kids, and best non-profit and they absolutely deserve both of those. Thank you, thank you for being so kind to us and selling my son the 3D printed spiral fidget for a kids price; because he...is...obsessed with it!!! We had the most fun ever, and are still in disbelief that a magical, yet so humble a space like this, exists. My kiddo says he wishes he could be there every day. To be honest...I could be there every day myself.

Brand new when I joined, full of high quality equipment, the gym has everything you need for free weight and machine lifting, stretching and independent cardio. If you are looking for morning (before work) group workouts, this is not the place, but if you have your own workouts and a set of headphones you can use the spin bikes, fancy treadmills, elliptical and stationary cycles. The gym opens early- and the staff are friendly. They recognize all of the morning patrons after just a week or so of attendance. I never used personal training, daytime or evening classes. I also have never had an opportunity to use the climbing wall due to limited hours. All of these are offered as part of the monthly fee, and there are pay for classes and leagues just like other YMCAs. I recommend the Flagstaff YMCA. It's lost some polish over the years, but the Y remains an old standby for my strength and cardio. I think you would like it too.

During this time, a piece of ice struck my son on the back of the head, forcing his head forward into his forehead and breaking his glasses. The teacher attempted to fix his glasses but did not seek medical attention for him or notify me. CPS/DCS personnel were present at the school and also failed to ensure he received care or that I was informed. I only learned of the incident later that evening when my son told me what happened. A few days later, he developed a high fever that required medical attention. I asked if it could be related to a possible concussion from the impact, but no diagnosis was made. Fortunately, antibiotics were given to prevent infection. This shows a complete lack of common sense and duty of care.
