They really take the time to get to know your child and your family. Which I appreciated very much. Academically, I couldn't be happier. My daughter learned how to read, write, math (addition, multiplications, subtraction and even division!). They also have NAU professors come and teach the children about insects, bones, the weather... they also expose the children to essential practical life skills. They also learn about geography, different cultures around the world and their traditions. Fun field trips. Cooking lessons. This was the perfect start to my daughter's journey in education. I highly recommend it! We will miss this school.

She updates us every day on the new happenings (like a few days ago, how one of them pulled up to standing!) and is always coming up with new things for them to do and be interested in. And mainly I just feel really solid that they are in a loving, nurturing place that is helping them grow into sweet small humans. I'm so excited that they are moving to this new location and expanding.

I went to preschool and kindergarten at the Sunnyside campus, elementary school at the Switzer Mesa campus, and I just graduated from this school. I know I am fully prepared for high school, my fist job, and many other challenges in life. I was a CFO of the pizza business, "Ellie's Pizza Party", in which we sold pizza to the Switzer campus to raise money for our annual San Juan River Trip, which taught me how to manage a business. We went on community connections to help our community, going-outs for fun, and immersions, to bond. And finally, we went on the end-of-year River Trip, where we bonded for four days and three nights on the river. My favorite part of this school, though, is that the teachers and students always allow you to be yourself, and will always accept you for who you are. -Madison, age 13

The school continues to be accommodating of my vegetarian children and I am grateful that it's a nut free school because my daughter (in the class) has peanut and tree nut allergies. She has been attending this school, on and off, since late 2023 and loves it. There has been some staff turnover (which is not unusual for daycares) but many long term staff remain and are wonderful to her, as are her new teachers. As a working parent I love the live feed, which I can watch between meetings, and the daily updates with photos. It really helps with the separation. Joanna is still the Director and remains a wealth of knowledge. She continues to support our family by accommodating our schedule (we mostly attend school from May - Sept).

They're rambunctious, receive special services, and are fully supported by Pine Forest's nurturing environment. I've seen some reviews mention that Pine Forest's curriculum isn't as competitive as other public schools, but I completely disagree. Pine Forest follows the same Arizona state standards as every other public school. The difference lies in how those lessons are taught--through developmentally appropriate, hands-on experiences that help children truly understand what they're learning. Waldorf education is deeply connected to nature and largely screen-free. I have a master's degree in educational technology and I love this balance. Waldorf's emphasis on creativity and curiosity builds the essential foundations for success in technology and beyond. Children at Pine Forest aren't falling behind because of less screen time; they're developing the focus, imagination, and problem-solving skills needed to use technology responsibly and meaningfully when the time is right.

One day the office told me to come get him because he was misbehaving. I found him in a room, by himself (he was only 5), crying. His shirt was off and his things were piled by his feet. They had cleaned out his cubby, apparently. I got him home, realized he was sick and found he had a fever. They were so incredibly neglectful. I never took him back. Side note, some parents really love Haven. I think if you fit in their mold then you might have a good experience. But they aren't great with kids that are different. I had a local psychologist that worked with the school occasionally tell me to get my kid out because it was like the Stepford Wives in there. Be careful if you choose this school.

Probably because the facility is under staffed daily which leads to having to scramble and accommodate all the kids, constant shifting around. There was never anyone at the front desk at drop off or pick up. I showed up for pick up one day and the door was wide open. Her AM teacher was telling me about a conversation she had with her boss about how my child was gonna have a rough first two weeks adjusting and she said to me "damn" all disappointed, like that was gonna be a bummer for her. The communication is very poor overall or non existent at pick up, unless it's on the app(which not everything is specifically documented)- like that my child didn't eat lunch or why the outfit was changed - came to find out she had the runs and a fever the next day after only being there 3 days. They chose not to tell me, had me questioning if they even gave the lunch I brought... or when I asked the pm director I noticed her outfit was changed did something happen and all I got was a "Yep" for whatever reason. Everything looks perfect on paper though for documentation purposes on their end. My first experience with a daycare was extensively negative and I choose to not lay it all here. It wasn't a good fit for us, not accommodating to our needs nor was my child comfortable here. I would not recommend for a transitioning child's first time into daycare. Don't get sold on the pitch like I did, nothing was what I was told. I feel bad for the few very sweet teachers who care, actually show up everyday and have to deal with the chaos. Kudos to them. *Edit, Update: 10/3 Just got a tip from someone who worked there that says they have a registered sex offender working there that has there children there and a teacher. Something about the place and it's wonderful staff just calms the nervous system, and lets you know you are in a safe space where everyone is encouraged and accepted. The way the staff reacts when your child asks a question, or asks for materials that are not out amongst the thousands that are visibly available is with willingness and kindness. They even went out to the shed to bring in stuffing for the craft my kiddo decided to make as a Christmas present for me. He felt so valued and respected...like his voice mattered inside of Tynkertopia, even though he's a kid. Another thing they do when you walk in the door that was so unique and adds to the feeling that you are welcome there is to give you a tour of where everything is and what's available to do. They introduce you to their fascinating Honey Ant colony, and you can even spot the Queen! Honey Ants are beautiful creatures. Tynkertopia offers nutritious snacks for hungry little tummies.
